Meet the Parents
-------------------------

One night a teenage girl brought her new boyfriend home to meet her parents, and they were appalled by his appearance: leather jacket, motorcycle boots, tattoos and pierced nose.

Later, the parents pulled their daughter aside and confessed their concern. "Dear," said the mother diplomatically, "he doesn't seem very nice."

"Oh please, Mom," replied the daughter, "if he wasn't nice, why would he be doing 500 hours of community service?"

In 1866, Tennessee became the first state to be readmitted to the Union after the Civil War.

In 1923, the Treaty of Lausanne, which settled the boundaries of modern Turkey, was concluded in Switzerland.

In 1937, the state of Alabama dropped charges against four of the nine young black men accused of raping two white women in the "Scottsboro Case."

In 1959, during a visit to Moscow, Vice President Richard Nixon engaged in his famous "Kitchen Debate" with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.

In 1969, the Apollo 11 astronauts - two of whom had been the first men to set foot on the moon - splashed down safely in the Pacific.

In 1974, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that President Richard Nixon had to turn over subpoenaed White House tape recordings to the Watergate special prosecutor.

In 1975, an Apollo spacecraft splashed down in the Pacific, completing a mission which included the first-ever docking with a Soyuz capsule from the Soviet Union.

In 1980, comedian-actor Peter Sellers died in London at 54.

In 1998, a gunman burst into the U.S. Capitol, killing two police officers before being shot and captured. (The shooter, Russell Eugene Weston Jr., is being held in a federal mental facility.)

In 2002, nine coal miners became trapped in a flooded tunnel of the Quecreek Mine in western Pennsylvania; the story ended happily 77 hours later with the rescue of all nine.

Ten years ago: Lance Armstrong won his seventh consecutive Tour de France (he was later stripped of all his titles after admitting to doping). Sir Richard Doll, the British scientist who first established a link between smoking and lung cancer, died in Oxford, England, at age 92.

Five years ago: A stampede inside a tunnel crowded with techno music fans left 21 people dead and more than 500 injured at the famed Love Parade festival in western Germany. Fourteen-year-old Jim Liu beat Justin Thomas 4 and 2 to become the youngest U.S. Junior Amateur champion at Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada, Michigan.

One year ago: Air Algerie Flight 5017, an MD-83 carrying 116 people, crashed in northern Mali, killing all on board; it was the third major international aviation disaster in a week. A psychiatrist's patient opened fire at a medical complex in Media, Pennsylvania, killing his caseworker and grazing his psychiatrist before the doctor pulled out his own weapon and fired back, wounding the patient. Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice received a two-game suspension from the NFL following his offseason arrest for domestic violence after an altercation with then-fiancee (later wife) Janay Palmer in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Door couldn't be fixed, unfortunately. He tried his best, but it wasn't the same issue as last time. Even door the inside of the door off, couldn't get it to latch. So that car is probably on its way out. But I did have a couple of smokes, so I guess there's that.

Subject:NJ Transit Alerts
The quality of your commute during the last several days has been unacceptable, and we share in your frustration.  We have been in contact with Amtrak at the highest levels, seeking  solutions. Again, our apologies.
isn't Amtrak still run by the Federal Govt? that could explain it.
NJT is full of shit.  They always blame Amtrak.  Wonder if Amtrak blames NJT.

Not at all, Amtrak is paid for by the Federal Government but run by the National Railroad Corporation which is a private "for profit" RR Company. Basically the worst of both worlds, RR and Government with all the "profit" being for the upper management.

Good Morning Mr. Mayor.  Back to normal commute today?
Nope.  Trains are fucked again.  They were actually fine yesterday.
Sure when I'm off to see the doctor, they run fine.  Good morning boys.
Almost time for a double sheesh.
Guess I need to make another long ass post, draw Scott out of the weeds.
LMAO, you get the door fixed and have time for a relaxing smoke afterwards?
Door couldn't be fixed, unfortunately. He tried his best, but it wasn't the same issue as last time. Even door the inside of the door off, couldn't get it to latch. So that car is probably on its way out. But I did have a couple of smokes, so I guess there's that.
Just weld the damn door shut and drive-on!   :)

Is LTG driving the General Lee?  You might want to remove that Confederate flag off the top.
Don't think they would take kindly to that in Cleveland.

The right of way belongs too and is maintained on the northeast corridor by Amtrak.  So going into NYC by the Hudson river tunnels is all Amtrak.  Our corpulent governor put the kabash on the proposed NJ transit tunnels.

Good morning gents!
WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK?
LALTS!
I was thinking of you last weekend, smoked the Tat Cojonu and the Melanio you sent me. Both were excellent...now GFY!
Awesome, love both of those sticks, especially those Cojonus!
The Cojonus are awesome and although I'm not the biggest Oliva "V" fan, I really like the Melanios
I must admit that I'll always prefer the V to the cojones.  But I'm not judging.

Way too early in the morning for Raz. :)

Hold on now... That CG!?! Well, hot damn! He musta tunneled from the commie camp just like Hogan.
The difference is Hogan often ended up with a hot blonde fraulein.  Shaun emerged here. Perhaps he made a wrong turn on his way to the Meat Shop.

Shoulda made a left in Albuquerque... Hey, Bean. How goes the DPG quest?
He's slow and cheap, need I say more?

Slow and cheap... like one of those old rides at the grocery store. Weeeee!

Racist and/or offensive... seemingly, doesn't even need to be proven in most cases. And more knee jerk reactions anymore today than arm chair quarterbacks on a Monday morning.

been a few shooting and decomposing alien body links today, so i thought i'd post something positive that came out of the Baltimore riots.  My son is a Dj and Baltimore Music director for WTMD in Towson MD and he was approached by someone in the local music scene about a song written by some Baltimore youth and an idea to produce it along with a video. He contacted some local Baltimore bands and they agreed, actually jumped at the chance to help.  the link is the news story, but about mid way through it there is a video box that has the news story that ran on Wednesday which includes bits of the song and the back story along with a short interview with my son.  Song's catchy.  Enjoy if you're so inclined.

Very cool.
You raised your son right Sam.
Thanks Mike, I appreciate that!

Nice!  I have a Walmart model Brink. (haven't gotten real serious about it yet)  don't think I've smoked anything heavier than 4 or 5 lbs yet.  You've got me thinking though.  (usually dangerous, expensive or worst case, both)

Today everything is racist until proven otherwise.

Racist and/or offensive... seemingly, doesn't even need to be proven in most cases. And more knee jerk reactions anymore today than arm chair quarterbacks on a Monday morning.
As a Monday morning quarterback, I find your post offensive.

Broke into a box of 107 toros and they are tasty.  Ran across a clearance deal for some torpedoes that showed up on the porch today.  OTT vs aged - a world of difference.  Age brings out the subtleties and complexities.  Nice smoke.
