Prize Bull
-------------------------

Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette, inherit the family ranch. Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble. In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull so that they can breed their own stock.
The brunette balances their checkbook, then takes their last $600 dollars out west to another ranch where a man has a prize bull for sale.

Upon leaving, she tells her sister, "When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I’ll contact you to drive out after me and haul it home."

The brunette arrives at the man’s ranch, inspects the bull, and decides she does want to buy it. The man tells her that he can sell it for $599, no less. After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news.

She walks into the telegraph office, and says, "I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I’ve bought a bull for our ranch. I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home."

The telegraph operator explains that he’ll be glad to help her, then adds, "It’s just 99 cents a word."

Well, after paying for the bull, the brunette only has $1 left. She realizes that she’ll only be able to send her sister one word.

After thinking for a few minutes, she nods, and says, "I want you to send her the word, ‘comfortable.’"

The telegraph operator shakes his head. "How is she ever going to know that you want her to hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send her the word, ‘comfortable’?"

The brunette explains, "My sister’s blonde. She’ll read it very slow."

Nice weather here today but a touch chilly at 51 right now and 76 for a high.  Wonderful forecast through the weekend with sunshine and low 80's.  Waiting on insurance adjuster to give me a report on the roof, pool repair service coming Friday and waiting on the dentist to get my new crown.  All is lovely!

He had some personal and pest control issues which made him skip a huge cigar event and attempt to unload his ticket?
GFY!   And now they moved my San Antonio business to tomorrow which is even worse.
What? What did I say? I wasn't necessarily referring to you
GFY Again for not being honest in your reply :)

Breakfast and Cigars. Just packed up some irons I sold for a buddy on eBay to ship and heading over to Markers in a little bit. You?
Just trying to make it through work before the fun begins. 5 more hours to go.
Gonna be a slow week/weekend on the banter I see guess Tex and I will have to keep this thing afloat

Hey Dave, didn't get to ask you yesterday, how do you think Cleveland is going to hold up without Love?
I'm not optimistic. For all the problems he's had fitting in this year, he's a huge part of what they do on offense. He spaces the floor nicely. Without him, the Bulls (probably) will be able to clog the middle, make us earn it from the outside. It's definitely a harder road to walk now.

Very good. Nice morning walk with the dog, sushi for lunch, ran some errands, she got a pedicure, then had some drinks and food outside at 2 different restaurants. She loved it-nice it wasn't a high maintenance birthday.

I still think they'll beat the Bulls, but Lebron has shied away from a lot of that play this year, trying to keep himself fresher. I'll be curious to see how much he plays that spot.

That said, do you think it's time we cover some final food details or just let it go where it may?
Talked to Charlie yesterday and he was going to slow cook a pork shoulder.  I've got tons of burgers and dogs.  I wouldn't go too crazy.  Plus you guys have another night or two there so...
Got enough cheese, onions condiments?  Should I bring some Swiss and mushrooms?
i figure on bringing a cooler of beer to.....someplace, sometime.
I thought you left your cooler in Somerville  ;D
It was empty, need to get a full one.  I'll be sure there are a few Natty Lights in there for you.   ;)
What, no Schlitz?

Someone will get the Schlitz at some point. I believe post burger was the frontrunner.

Morning, CFesters
Not saying it's out of the realm of possibility but I've never gotten a complaint on my burger.  If a case of the shits is the price one has to pay to eat it, so be it!

True, but when they are younger than your daughter, the line has to be drawn.
Phew. Good thing I don't have a daughter.

True, but for a one day, Hamburg is a bit of a trek in the other direction.
Isn't the regular super store about the same distance from Split Rock?
Yes, but on the other side, so it's on the way for me.  Picking up "other" John and not John at Lehigh as well.
Gotcha, understandable.

But we're only talking about for the Friday morning/early afternoon.  We'll still have time to hang out afterwards at "The House".  By the way, do John, John and non-John have regular CF tickets, VIP, or CigarNut?

Ok, super duper store is about 20 minutes farther away. Not too bad for 2 stories and 2 fully stocked bars, IMFO. Also, we'll have already been at the super store Thursday. Haha.
The SoA event is at 4 pm at the "Split Rock Galleria", WTF that is.  But sounds like y'all are going to the Bethlehem store on Thursday.  Is that earlier in the day?  FML.

The galleria is where CF is actually held, at the resort. It's a fancy word for 1/4 of the CF floor. Nate and I will be at the super store on Thursday early afternoon for the Perdomo event, then into downtown Bethlehem for lunch, then to The House to drop our stuff off and onto the SoA event.

Realistically, we'll probably get there around 11.  Charlie has to drop off his kid at school first and won't get to my house before 8:30.  I'm figuring 9 plus a two hour drive... Voila!

So we barbecue the pacific islanders?  What kind of sauce would work best, something like a KC semi sweet or a NC vinegar?   Maybe a SC Mustard base as it is not worth a crap on anything else.

I don't talk to the ladies in this office cause there are none and i don't talk to the old bitches because I would soon get sued as several others already have.  Additionally, I would probably puke if one of these ugly monsters did wear such!

Unfortunately I've been tracking it and there's no change so let's just call it. Even if it's not raining it'll only be in the low 40's which doesn't sound too fun. I'm heading to Hamburg for 9AM opening time

Unfortunately I've been tracking it and there's no change so let's just call it. Even if it's not raining it'll only be in the low 40's which doesn't sound too fun. I'm heading to Hamburg for 9AM opening time
Good deal. One less thing to haul out there.

Indeed.  The sun is up, definitely morning time.  Hot as hell out here this week, high 90s.
We've got a gorgeous day here today too.  It's supposed to get cold, windy and rainy starting tomorrow.  Gonna have to sneak in a cigar again after work today.  Enjoyed the Perdomo Reserva Champagne Sun Grown yesterday and a Four Kicks the day before.

I went with a Padron 2000 maduro last night.  One of those cigars that I always forget how much I actually like it until I smoke one.
Morning Joe, that's one of those old staple cigars that tend to be forgotten with all the new stuff out

Mama might should have beat him about the head!

Police in Louisiana want to talk to an LSU football star projected to be selected in the first round of Thursday's NFL draft, after a pregnant woman linked to him was shot and killed in her home on Friday.

La'el Collins, a three-year starter and by some accounts the best offensive lineman in the draft, has not been named as a suspect in the shooting of Brittney Mills, 29, Friday night in the doorway of her Baton Rouge home, but police in Baton Rouge say they want to talk to him. Collins, 21, is believed to have been romantically linked to Mills, but it is unclear if the baby, who survived, is his.

Morning Chip, Dave, Dave, Dean, Mr. Mayor, Dogfish and Yellow star!  Good humpday to ya.
Morning Dave. You're going to the Bethlehem store on Friday?
No, probably the Superstore.  What time do you anticipate being at the house?
Hamburg?
No, the Superstore is in Bethlehem
Been there.  Most of us were talking about giving the super-duper store a try this year.
True, but for a one day, Hamburg is a bit of a trek in the other direction.
Isn't the regular super store about the same distance from Split Rock?
Ok, super duper store is about 20 minutes farther away. Not too bad for 2 stories and 2 fully stocked bars, IMFO. Also, we'll have already been at the super store Thursday. Haha.
The SoA event is at 4 pm at the "Split Rock Galleria", WTF that is.  But sounds like y'all are going to the Bethlehem store on Thursday.  Is that earlier in the day?  FML.
Charlie and I planned to be in Hamburg until 1ish when we leave for the Split Rock event on Friday.  Ticket allows us to enter at 2:30 and this is our 9th time so we're not so eager to be the first in line.
Any idea what time you'll plan to get to Hamburg on Friday?
I'll be perched at the doorstep when they unlock the place, more than likely a couple bloody's under my belt
Not sure when we'll be there, but Nate is coming, so there's that. We'll shoot for early, I'm sure we'll beat Tony.
An hour or so drive, make it work Sally

Yes, but on the other side, so it's on the way for me.  Picking up "other" John and not John at Lehigh as well.
But we're only talking about for the Friday morning/early afternoon.  We'll still have time to hang out afterwards at "The House".  By the way, do John, John and non-John have regular CF tickets, VIP, or CigarNut?
No tickets this year.

Well isn't that special.  Did you ask the ladies in your office where their grass skirts and coconut shell bras were?
I don't talk to the ladies in this office cause there are none and i don't talk to the old bitches because I would soon get sued as several others already have.  Additionally, I would probably puke if one of these ugly monsters did wear such!
Ha, suspected as much but had to ask.  Time to go drive around some in Central NJ, BBL.

Nice.  I'd be at home smoking but I'm at the office waiting on a delivery.  Should've just had it sent to the house and hoped to be there to sign for it.
Wouldah, shouldah, couldah.
Might set the record for time in the office this year!

Yeah, it's getting a little ridiculous.  C'mon, UPS, hurry up!

But we're only talking about for the Friday morning/early afternoon.  We'll still have time to hang out afterwards at "The House".  By the way, do John, John and non-John have regular CF tickets, VIP, or CigarNut?
No tickets this year.
I misunderstood.  Thought you got shut out but they got theirs.
Nope, we both screwed up.  As we've been a number of years, not really a concern.  Figured we'd make a day of it anyway with a visit to CI then an afternoon herfin' and cooking at the House of Fish.

Yes, but on the other side, so it's on the way for me.  Picking up "other" John and not John at Lehigh as well.
But we're only talking about for the Friday morning/early afternoon.  We'll still have time to hang out afterwards at "The House".  By the way, do John, John and non-John have regular CF tickets, VIP, or CigarNut?

So you leaving them outside when you go in?
Just going to run it get my bag and head over to the Delta Sigma Fish house.
We'll have to get all the stuff for the guy that couldn't join us, since we have his ticket. I think I'll let Nate handle that, since he's his friend.
Sounds easier to just sell his ticket and use the money to pay his portion of the rent

Yo, Bret... tried that Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso last night.  Initial impression is that it's OK.  Didn't blow me away.  Very heavy sherry influence, didn't seem like the underlying whiskey had much of a backbone.  Only had the one pour of it, though, and didn't add any water, so maybe that will change it a bit.  The cigar also overpowered it.

Wish UPS would show up.  I didn't bring a lunch, now I'm hungry.  Liquor store might be closed by the time I get there at this rate.
Yea, I'm sure that's going to happen....and if it does, guess you won't have ANYTHING in the house to hold you over.

Yo, Bret... tried that Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso last night.

I'll have to give a second impression of it after trying it without a cigar.
So far, sounding like my impression of the regular Nadurra.  I'm not sure what they're trying to accomplish with these.

I don't generally prefer sherry finishing.  Port finishing yes, but not sherry.

No, I'm stuck here until at least 4:45 PST.

Oh, hey Joe...did you catch my post the other day that I visited Costco to see if there was a deal on Lagavulin 16?  There wasn't.  Eighty-something bucks for it, and with the state penalties added up to over $100.  Sheeeeiiiit.

I did see that, yes.  That seems like a terrible price.  It's cheaper than that at our grocery stores.  Think the Vons/Safeway chain sells it for $70ish.

Yes, but on the other side, so it's on the way for me.  Picking up "other" John and not John at Lehigh as well.
But we're only talking about for the Friday morning/early afternoon.  We'll still have time to hang out afterwards at "The House".  By the way, do John, John and non-John have regular CF tickets, VIP, or CigarNut?
No tickets this year.
So you leaving them outside when you go in?
Just going to run it get my bag and head over to the Delta Sigma Fish house.
Dave, what about your ticket book (50+ samples/80% yardgars, but 20% good)?

Welcome Flip and Sly.
Hey Tony & Flip.  I am so far behind ... got a lot to take care of besides packing.   How are you doing?
I've got to get outside for a walk, so I'll bid you adieu for now.  We'll be leaving NoVA a little later than planned, but NoVA Dave & I will go up to Baltimore to pick up CiL Gene (I think we'll go north around the West side of the Balto. Beltway, instead of through the city like we did last year!!!) and maybe make the end of the SoA event.  Planning to go to the Pete Johnson event Friday morning before our 2:30pm entry time for CFest.  Spending the night and heading out Sat. AM.  Looking forward to the BOTL BBQ Friday evening.

My reply was in response to him saying he was just going to run in and get his (swag) bag, then head over to the fish house, which sounded like he was going to skip the trick or treating portion, which would be a shame.

Two cigar B&Ms in the area Bean.  One on Rt. 1 next to Olive Garden in Lawrenceville (Tobacco Leaf), and one in downtown Princeton, (Little Taste of Cuba).  Both have modest seating.  Lots of good restaurants in Princeton.

Decent brew pub (and decent food) on Nassau St. in Princeton called Triumph Brewing.  Rather inconspicuous entrance, but most anyone can direct you there.  If you go into Princeton, easiest to park in the parking towers a block behind Nassau (there are two), rather than trying to find street parking and continuing to feed the meter.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I'm still not done working and too f'n tired, though.  I'll save my cigar smoking mojo for the pending cigar bacchanal.  Probably going to hit Panera Bread.  Woohoo!

Motorcycle's done (for now). $840.
Ouch.  Sounds like they had to get deep into the guts of it.
Not really.  Routine 5000 mi maintenance, carb rebuild, fork oil, and a couple of wiring fixes.  Still needs base gaskets done and new tires, but those will have to wait a couple of months.

No, just an advocate of new or don't bother.

I'm into cheap and sleazy.

I got the bike for $4500. Adding in all the maintenance and customization done to date, figure I'm in $6000, grand total, for a Harley Fatboy with 24000 miles on the odometer and a 6-speed transmission. Compared to buying a new Harley? I'm money ahead.

If I drop another $3k on paint, tires, a better seat, and a fairing, the bike will be cherry, and I'll still be money ahead, compared to my friends who are all running around buying new bikes for $26k+

It's a 1993. 24k miles in 22 years. Clearly the bike did a lot of sitting. So the seals were shot.

The one by David's Bridal on Rt. 1?  You were right around the corner from a good B&M AND a good liquor store (Joe Canal's)

Also, next time in the area, for a better burger, just two miles up Rt. 1 on the southbound side in Princeton Marketfair (mall) there is a Bobby's Burgers.  Reasonable and very nice flavors.

Yeah, and the funny thing is, she gets complements. I was sitting at a light in Tacoma, guy pulls up alongside on a gorgeous, blacked-out custom bike, looks my bike over and signals me to put my face mask up. "Nice looking bike!" He says. And I'm thinking to myself, "Uh, what?"

Dave, what about your ticket book (50+ samples/80% yardgars, but 20% good)?
He was referring to his buddy that doesn't have a ticket and will wait outside if Barry can't work his magic.  Otherwise, NJDave DOES now have a ticket and will be trick-or-treating with the rest of us.
My reply was in response to him saying he was just going to run in and get his (swag) bag, then head over to the fish house, which sounded like he was going to skip the trick or treating portion, which would be a shame.
P.S. Tony, do you still have the same cell number ......87?  In case we need to stay in touch, find out where everyone is, latest news (did LTG Dave cut himself again?), etc.
I wasn't planning on doing trick or treating.  If I can catch up with you you are welcome to the book.
Thanks, Dave. Hate to see it go unused.

He was also probably hoping for a complement on his bike, too.
