AWOL
-------------------------

A sailor was caught AWOL as he tried to sneak on board his ship at about
3 am. The chief petty officer spied him and ordered the sailor to stop.
The officer ordered the sailor, "Take this broom and sweep every link on
this anchor chain by morning or it's the brig for you!"

The sailor picked up the broom and started to sweep the chain.

Just then, a tern landed on the broom handle. The sailor yelled at the
bird to leave, but it didn't. The lad picked the tern off the broom
handle, giving the bird a toss.

The bird left, only to return and light once again on the broom handle.
The sailor went through the same routine all over again, with the same
result.

He couldn't get any cleaning done because he could only sweep at the
chain once or twice before the silly bird came back.

When morning came, so did the chief petty officer, to check up on his
wayward sailor.

"What on earth have you been doing all night? This chain is no cleaner
than when you started! What have you to say for yourself, sailor?"
barked the chief.

"Honest, chief," came the reply, "I tossed a tern all night and couldn't
sweep a link!"

Think I've only mowed once in the last month. Been too hot, with too little rain, grass has just about given up on life.

I still have some large areas that I could cut every 3 days if I had the time, both sides of the bayou still grow like crazy and that alone is about 6 acres, I can't wait for the first freeze.

It's not like he's drinking fru-fru beers or anything.
Only because Yellowstar seems to have bought the market out on fruit beers
No worries, there are plenty more.  Besides, chocolate is not a fruit.
Fruit can have other meanings. ;)
No wonder I wasn't a math major. Had no idea that Shaun + gay beers = NJMark
Common Core Math
Common core math is WAY more complicated. Haha.

Spinach & Smoked ham wrap with Jalapeno Cream Cheese.   Damn good!
knew after a week of good Ole boy cooking, wanted me some NY food, got a chicken cutlet hero, then walked across the street to the falafal truck and got a lamb gyro.  gonna put the chicken hero in the fridge here at work,
and am enjoying the gyro, although they added some gardinere to it.  a crisp vinegar carrot just doesn't seem to be in the flavor profile.

Heading to Savannah/Tybee Is. for Labor day weekend. The rest is just a low key stay-cation on the lake. Just have to pressure wash and re-seal the deck between cigars and cocktails.

Sounds good.  Don't schedule too much on Saturday, football starts.  Don't know who you follow, but Georgia vs. ULM at 12:00, Clemson vs. Wofford at 12:30, Tech vs. Alcorn St. at 7:30, and a couple of real games, TCU vs. Minnesota at 9:00, Louisville vs Auburn at 3:30, Arizona St. vs Texas A&M at 7:00, Texas vs. Notre Dame at 7:30  and  Wisconsin vs. Alabama at GerryWorld at 8:00.

Can't wait for Saturday!  Thursday night technically.  Real deal is Monday night... OSU vs VaTech, in Blacksburg!
You're right, actually Georgia Tech and TCU games are on Thursday.  There are also three Friday games.  And yea, I left the Monday game for you.

If our delusions of a BCS bowl appearance are gonna get shattered, may as well make it week one.  But ya never know... we beat 'em last year.  Night game, at home, there's a chance.

Afternoon, all. Super-duper Monday for me so far.  :-\

Weekend was very good, and after this week, I'll be off until the 15th. So, I have that going for me... which is nice.
Got anything special planned?

Heading to Savannah/Tybee Is. for Labor day weekend. The rest is just a low key stay-cation on the lake. Just have to pressure wash and re-seal the deck between cigars and cocktails.

Ah, yeah. I'm ready. Couple good matchups, but typically week 1 has the cream puffs on the schedule for the bigger conferences... but football is football!
And some are not even quality cream puffs!

why go to all that trouble packing the beer, and mailing it out.  Just drink it, and tell him what it tasted like, hell call him up and burp in the phone. :P

Historical River area is a neat place.  We are going to Hilton Head for a few days in early November.

We go to Hilton Head quite a bit as well. Although, not this year... yet. ;) We stay at the southern end. Guardhouse entrance keeps site seeing traffic down to a minimum. Lot's of bike riding paths too... or horses if you prefer.
We went there regularly when we lived in SC but have not been in a few years.  We are actually doing some preliminary looking at places to retire on this trip then up to Myrtle Beach for our Son's' birthday.

We like it a lot. It's not as ultra exclusive as Kiawah Is. (S. of Charleston), but is very private. We have been the only people on the beach at times.

Good morning, all!  Had to do some work on the computer this morning, figured I'd sign in and say hello.  Mondays off, gotta love it.  El Triunfador robusto going...

Hey there, Joe. How's the good life?

At least put it up for vote, ya know?  Slip it in somewhere on the ballot.

'Tis a different life, that's for sure.  No drinking or smoking at work, can't leave because I feel like it and I don't have anything else to do.  Taxpayers sure are demanding with where their money goes, sheesh.

Ha. The nerve.

Damn, forgot how to use this site...

I don't know... you got 2 posts out of it. So, the pwing still has potential.
Doesn't look like he missed a step, does it?

We have waited till this trip to go to HH in order to avoid the major tourist crowds, place is the chits in the summer when school is our or at spring break, wait a minute though every place including here is the chits for spring break now. Made a few visits to Kiawah and it is a really nice place,  would  luv to retire there but with the low end being $500,000 for a 1000 sq ft bungalow in the swamp it is out of my budget.

And speaking of GA and the Ryder Cup:

PGA golfer and 2016 U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III, who last week became the third-oldest tour winner with a victory at the Wyndham Championship, has listed his home in St. Simons Island, Ga., for sale at $5.15 million..

Known as Sinclair Farms, the equestrian estate sits on more than five acres with a 10,253-square-foot main house, a horse barn, stables and 354 feet of marsh frontage.

As for San Diego Beers.....how about Rip Current Hazardous Hazelnut Porter, Zumbar Dark Chocolate Imperial Coffee Stout, Ayinger Oktober Fest-Märzen, AleSmith Anvil Ale ESB,  The Lost Abbey Avant Garde, The Bruery's Autumn Maple,
::)
Those all sound Bean-approved
There is no amount of time I could spend in NJ which would cause me to start drinking beers beverages such as those.
Garage Brewing Marshmallow Stout was one of my favorites from my SD trip
Should pair nicely with a Kuba Kuba Cigar
I'd have to ask Dad, those aren't in my arsenal of cigars :)

Who'd you call an arsenal?  ;)

The BIL told me that Traveler was a Sam Adams product... not one of the many he distributes. I could get it, but would feel shame for "taking bread out of his kids mouths". haha
LALTS!  Well add it to the list of SA beers I like then, haha.

Oh, I did get to try the Lazy Magnolia Pecan Nut Brown you mentioned the other day. It was good, but didn't really do much for me. I'm partial to the Sam Smith. Good suggestion though.

The Toro was the top ranked size when the LC14s came out, for what that's worth, followed by the robusto.  The CG probably gets my vote and is the one I am waiting for as well.

I have a guess that Dave will say the toro. He seems to prefer that in many offerings. Something about most blends use that size as the 'base'... if I'm remembering correctly.

Are you going Atlantic, Shaun? Think Dave said $142 VIP? Seems about the most reasonable.

As for San Diego Beers.....how about Rip Current Hazardous Hazelnut Porter, Zumbar Dark Chocolate Imperial Coffee Stout, Ayinger Oktober Fest-Märzen, AleSmith Anvil Ale ESB,  The Lost Abbey Avant Garde, The Bruery's Autumn Maple,
::)
They're not all so fru-fru Bean.....the Ayinger Oktoberfest is a standard offering, the Alesmith is a classic English Bitter.  Nothing really left coast about them, as a matter of fact, they're both far right coast.
Real beers not foofoo suds?

Bud, Bud Light, Bud Ice, Bud Dry... remember dry beers? sheesh

AtlanticDave, what was the preferred vitola for the La Imperiosa? I'm thinking CG, but gotta save a couple weeks... gotta wait for stock to come in anyway.
Actually, La Imperiosa is very nice to offer a four pack sampler of the different vitola's to help you with that conclusion for only $26.  For this one, yes, my first choice is a toro (6 3/8 x 50) followed by the corona (5 5/8 x 46)

Yes. The sampler is what I'm 1/2 through. Just looking for some other feedback. My palate might be off after all those flavored beers.

ROBERTO Esquivel Cabrera has just set a world record for having the longest penis.

The 52-year-old Mexican measured in at a whopping 18.9 inches (48.2cm), with a tip circumference of 10 inches (25cm), at certification by World Record Academy officials yesterday.
Mr Cabrera had been hoping for recognition by Guinness World Records but had to settle for the less famous certifier after Guinness confirmed it had no category for penis size.
The World Record Academy stepped in after Mr Cabrera shared his story with a local journalist in an interview that was picked up by the world press over the weekend.
He told how his massive member had ruined his life, preventing him from having a relationship and even getting a job.
“Look where it is, it goes far below the knees,” Mr Cabrera said.
“I cannot do anything, I cannot work, and I am disabled so I want authorities to declare me as a disabled person and give me support.”
Women were too frightened to have sex with him, so he had never had a long-term girlfriend, let alone a wife.

So damn typical

The father of the young female reporter killed by a black gay former colleague obsessed with serial killers and imagined racial slights has announced that he is going to make gun control the focus of his life’s work… right after he buys one.

The father of slain TV reporter Alison Parker says he thinks he will have to buy a gun now that he has decided to be an outspoken advocate for tougher gun laws.

Adam Parker made the remarks Friday outside the station where his daughter worked. He said he currently doesn’t own a gun, but believes he will now have to buy one because his mission will be tougher gun laws.

Look on the bright side. Maybe he'll realize it isn't as easy as he thought, and maybe he'll become a gun enthusiast. It could happen.

Jayzus, what are yuz, an immigrant or somethin'? Charlie was the North Vietnamese Army.

People often use Charlie and "gook" interchangeably to describe the Viet Cong and the NVA, but I'm advised that the early advisors in Vietnam used "gooks" and "VC" for the Viet Cong and "Charlie" for the NVA.

I wouldn't know, personally. I was in fourth grade when the Vietnam War ended.
