It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

September 6 is … Fight Procrastination Day

“I never put off till tomorrow what I can possibly do -- the day after.” ― Oscar Wilde Procrastination can really be the bane of our existence,...

September 6 is the 249th day of the year (250th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. There are 116 days remaining until the end of the year. This date is slightly more likely to fall on a Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday (58 in 400 years each) than on Friday or Saturday (57), and slightly less likely to occur on a Monday or Wednesday (56).

COLLEGE STATION – Johnny Manziel is taking courses again at Texas A&M, but don’t expect to see him hanging around the Memorial Student Center, Kyle Field or anywhere else on campus.
Manziel is taking online courses from A&M and will continue to live in Los Angeles, according to close friend Billy Liucci, a co-owner of the A&M fan website TexAgs.com.

Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, apparently has been in College Station over Labor Day weekend squaring things away on the registration front.

Manziel is listed as a senior. He left A&M following his sophomore season of 2013, as he was eligible for the NFL draft because he had redshirted as a freshman in 2011. He was a first-round draft selection of the Cleveland Browns, but his career flamed out following continual problems off the field.

Today is Tuesday, Sept. 6, the 250th day of 2016. There are 116 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Sept. 6, 1916, the first self-serve grocery store, Piggly Wiggly, was opened in Memphis, Tennessee, by Clarence Saunders. (The store was set up to allow customers to hand-pick their groceries from shelves, rather than request them from a clerk standing behind a counter.)

On this date:

In 1861, Union forces led by Gen. Ulysses S. Grant occupied Paducah, Kentucky, during the Civil War.

In 1901, President William McKinley was shot and mortally wounded by anarchist Leon Czolgosz (CHAWL'-gawsh) at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. (McKinley died eight days later; Czolgosz was executed on October 29.)

In 1925, the silent film horror classic "The Phantom of the Opera," starring Lon Chaney, had its world premiere at the Astor Theater in New York.

In 1939, the Union of South Africa declared war on Germany.

In 1943, 79 people were killed when a New York-bound Pennsylvania Railroad train derailed and crashed in Philadelphia.

In 1954, groundbreaking took place for the Shippingport Atomic Power Station in western Pennsylvania.

In 1966, birth control advocate Margaret Sanger died in Tucson, Arizona, at age 86, eight days before her birthday. South African Prime Minister Hendrik Verwoerd (fehr-FOORT') was stabbed to death by an apparently deranged page during a parliamentary session in Cape Town.

In 1970, Palestinian guerrillas seized control of three U.S.-bound jetliners. (Two were later blown up on the ground in Jordan, along with a London-bound plane hijacked on Sept. 9; the fourth plane was destroyed on the ground in Egypt. No hostages were harmed.)

In 1975, 18-year-old tennis star Martina Navratilova of Czechoslovakia, in New York for the U.S. Open, requested political asylum in the United States.

In 1985, all 31 people aboard a Midwest Express Airlines DC-9 were killed when the Atlanta-bound jetliner crashed just after takeoff from Milwaukee's Mitchell Field.

In 1991, the Soviet Union recognized the independence of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Russian lawmakers upheld a decision by residents of Leningrad to restore the city's pre-revolutionary name, St. Petersburg.

In 1997, a public funeral was held for Princess Diana at Westminster Abbey in London, six days after her death in a car crash in Paris.

Ten years ago: President George W. Bush acknowledged for the first time that the CIA was running secret prisons overseas and said tough interrogation had forced terrorist leaders to reveal plots to attack the United States and its allies. Japan's Princess Kiko gave birth to a boy (later named Hisahito), providing the centuries-old Chrysanthemum Throne with its first male heir in more than 40 years. Anibal Sanchez threw a no-hitter in his 13th career start as the Florida Marlins beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-0.

Five years ago: A man with a rifle opened fire in an IHOP restaurant in Carson City, Nevada, killing three of five uniformed National Guard members and a woman having breakfast with her husband; gunman Eduardo Sencion also shot himself and died in the parking lot. Convoys of Moammar Gadhafi loyalists, including his security chief, fled Libya, crossing the Sahara into Niger.

One year ago: Guatemala held its general election; with no presidential candidate winning more than 50 percent of the vote, there was a runoff the following October between Jimmy Morales (who won) and Sandra Torres.

good morning guys. lady just left to work at the Women's Club rubbish sale. I have a gate post at the pool here to secure this morning for the park manager. just waiting for her to do her banking, then to flip the screen walls and finish painting so I can install them Friday and hang the screen door Saturday. sheesh, I'm tired already!
Short Story and coffee going. nice cool morning, 66° heading into the 90's, no sand gnats.

What happened to "if it wasn't for procrastination I wouldn't have anything to do tomorrow." ?
I don't think you'd know procrastination if it bit you on the ass.
hey, I put work off to Friday and Saturday didn't I?
Well, there was this hurricane thing going on... ???

I don't know where it came from but I drank a really nice summer beer last night. It was called Pinner Throwback IPA. It reminded me a lot of Founders All Day IPA but perhaps a bit more citrusy. Low in alcohol but would work well for a barbecue. I'd buy more if I found it.

I was getting ready to roast some jalapeños when #1 son suggested I should utilize the fresh chorizo I'd bought at the market.  So, I roasted the chiles, fried the chorizo, sliced the chiles in half, stuffed them with chorizo, topped with Colby Jack and Cotija cheese, and put them back under the broiler for a couple of minutes. Pure dynamite. Not for the faint of heart. Only try this if you have a pitcher of stout Margaritas handy.

Place I get them has them both ways and a few others, better without the bacon if using chorizo but much better with the bacon without chorizo and I prefer the bacon no chorizao with cream cheese over the other combos, but all are good..  There, that is my fuk'n opinion!

Morning, muchachos.
Good morning, Bret. How was the family outing?
Thankfully, not the epic blowout that Memorial Day was. Good food, good music, good conversation, minimal hassle.
Sounds glamptastic!
Sounds delicious, but you left off the bacon wrapping.
I like bacon wrapped everything but these sound good without. Only because I wouldn't want the bacon to overpower the chorizo. But I've been wrong before.
Place I get them has them both ways and a few others, better without the bacon if using chorizo but much better with the bacon without chorizo and I prefer the bacon no chorizao with cream cheese over the other combos, but all are good..  There, that is my fuk'n opinion!

So, bacon no chorizo or no chorizo with bacon... check!  :o
That is my preference, the bacon and chorizo combined sort of get in each others way.  I also much prefer them with cream cheese but others will certainly work.  The bacon does make them a bitch to cook on the grill though.

Here's the bottom line... I'd eat them no matter how they're prepared.
They punish you a second time come morning, but worth it.

Well I listened to the warden, and shifted the Karaoke BBQ from Sunday to Saturday,
because we were going to have weather on Sunday.  Less people showed up, we were down 3 singers,
but the five of us left, in the late afternoon, did kamikaze karaoke.  No, not with shots, but you would
put in a disk with 16-18 songs on it, and when it was your turn, you sang the next song.  You had one chance to
say nope, hit the next button.  that's how I ended up singing Papa Don't Preach.  And Yes, we did have weather on
Sunday, and it was great weather.  One guy, didn't get the message about the reschedule, and he showed up on
Sunday, we were having the neighbors over again, to help with the leftover food & booze, but I told him no singing,
you missed the one day a year Nadine allows karaoke at the house.  This year was the first year the police did not
show up, and we sang till 11pm.  but after 9:30 only ballads, no songs like Billy Idol's "White Wedding".

Yes, the weather was pretty stellar for a hurricane.  Not even a breeze!  Glad your even went well, even with reduced numbers.  One benefit to Saturdays, you usually are granted a little bit later with the noise restrictions.

Last year, due to a new noise ordinance the cops showed up around 7pm, apologized, and asked if we could lower it.  Seems if they get three different calls, they have to show up. We didn't have to stop, just lower it a bit.  this year, my buddy who showed up on the original day, didn't sing on saturday.  He sings 4 or 5 songs fairly well, but he does over a dozen across the 8 hours, screaming into the mike on some. It could also be the grouchy neighbors went away for the weekend.

FOX News if falling apart....
Sent Ailes packing just because he made some friendly offers to female staff,
agreed to 20 Million to make Carlson go away, paid off some of the others suing,
now Greta Van Susteren leaves.
"Fox News host Howard Kurtz reported that Van Susteren attempted to renegotiate her contract following Ailes' departure, but was unsuccessful. Van Susteren had a "key-man clause" allowing her to exit if Ailes were to depart, Kurtz reported, and chose to activate it when contract renegotiation's became deadlocked."
Don't know what Megyn's contract looks like, but expect her to try to cash in, or out, at the first opportunity as well.
She has an out also and rumor is the bitch  is going to CNN where she belongs.
Lol, not "fair and balanced" enough for ya?
Mostly because she is just an obnoxious snotty bitch.

I've never watched her, obviously, so I have no idea what she's like, but I kinda wish she was moderating one of the debates. That would be great tv.

CLEMSON  —

Former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault and battery, according to Greenville police.

Boyd was released on a personal recognizance bond.

According to a report from WYFF, the arrest stemmed from an incident at On The Roxx bar on South Main St. in Greenville in July.

According to the report, Boyd was told by a door man that he could not enter the bar due to it being at full capacity. Boyd is accused of then arguing and pushing the door man on the ground, causing him to knock over a female.

Police spokesman Gilberto Franco told the Associated Press the bouncer waited until the next day to report the incident, and it took investigators two months to investigate the encounter

Sounds like the classic, "Do you know who I am" sceario... no Tajh. Not since you graduated. You did graduate, right?  ;D
Yep, bouncer wanted to be famous...... pretty common.

Ha! Tajh Boyd's NFL career stats... zero. Two years in the NFL.  ::)
I figured Clemson Dave needed his clock wound a little today and this should give it a few turns.
He already had a bunch of things snatched from his cart, don't put too much on him!
Oh yeah, that's right, which also caused him to lose the Labor Day Sale discount on them..
No, still got the discount, just wasn't the same number of items I started with.

Yea, he did, but still thinks he can break into the NFL.  Time to move on.
Terry Bradshaw graduated too, with +/- 75 credit hours and an Honorary Degree in PE.

Why enjoying sex — and having a lot of it — might kill you

Sex can kill — or at least put some people’s health at risk.

Older men who have sex once a week or more are at nearly twice the risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular issues like hypertension than those who are not as sexually active, according to a study published Tuesday in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior. Furthermore, older men who say they find sex with their partner extremely pleasurable also had an increased risk of cardiovascular problems.

“Because older men have more difficulties reaching orgasm for medical or emotional reasons than do their younger counterparts, they may exert themselves to a greater degree of exhaustion and create more stress on their cardiovascular system in order to achieve climax,” says Hui Liu, an author of the study and an associate professor of sociology at Michigan State University.

For older women, however, frequent, good sex may actually improve their health. Indeed, women who have pleasurable sex are at a decreased risk of hypertension, the study revealed.

just finished that SIMPLE job. 3 hours and 2 trips to Home Depot 10 miles away. sheesh. should have been done in under an hour. but I did get a new cordless hammer drill out of it.
And the drill cost you how much?
a gift from the park. Ryobi 18 volt hammer drill, charger, 2 batteries and carry case. list price $99.
oh, and they paid me $100.
Sounds like time for a trip to the B&M....or an on line order.
I dropped $202 at the Page and $150 at CI the other day. cigars will be in tomorrow afternoon. will drop another $300 at the end of the month to get stocked back up. smoking more than are being shipped.
You should take some lessons from TexDave.  He has managed a nice retirement inventory.
Probably a 6 month supply for Dean
