Today is Wednesday, April 6, the 97th day of 2016. There are 269 days left in the year.
Today's Highlight in History:
On April 6, 1896, the first modern Olympic games formally opened in Athens, Greece.
On this date:
In 1830, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized by Joseph Smith in Fayette, New York.
In 1886, the Canadian city of Vancouver, British Columbia, was incorporated.
In 1909, American explorers Robert E. Peary and Matthew A. Henson and four Inuits (IH'-noo-wits) became the first men to reach the North Pole.
In 1917, Congress approved a declaration of war against Germany.
In 1945, during World War II, the Japanese warship Yamato and nine other vessels sailed on a suicide mission to attack the U.S. fleet off Okinawa; the fleet was intercepted the next day.
In 1954, a month after being criticized by newsman Edward R. Murrow on CBS' "See It Now," Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy, R-Wis., was given the chance to respond on the program; in his pre-filmed remarks, McCarthy charged that Murrow had, in the past, "engaged in propaganda for Communist causes."
In 1965, the United States launched Intelsat I, also known as the "Early Bird" communications satellite, into geosynchronous orbit.
In 1971, Russian-born composer Igor Stravinsky, 88, died in New York City.
In 1980, 3M introduced its "Post-it Notes," a re-branding of a product formerly known as "Press 'n Peel."
In 1996, actress Greer Garson died in Dallas at age 91.
In 1998, country singer Tammy Wynette died at her Nashville home at age 55.
In 2014, actor Mickey Rooney, 93, died in North Hollywood.
Ten years ago: At the death penalty trial of al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui (zak-uh-REE'-uhs moo-SOW'-ee), former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani described his own harrowing experiences in lower Manhattan on Sept. 11, 2001. U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., apologized for an altercation in which she'd entered a Capitol building unrecognized, refused to stop when asked by a police officer and then struck him.
Five years ago: Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi appealed directly to President Barack Obama in a letter to end what Gadhafi called "an unjust war"; he also wished Obama good luck in his bid for re-election. Portugal became the third debt-stressed European country to need a bailout as the prime minister announced his country would request international assistance.
One year ago: The Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at the University of Virginia announced it would "pursue all available legal action" against Rolling Stone, saying a Columbia Journalism School review showed the magazine acted recklessly and defamed its members by publishing a discredited article that accused them of gang rape. Kenyan warplanes bombed militant camps in Somalia after a vow by President Uhuru Kenyatta to respond "in the fiercest way possible" to the massacre of Kenyan college students by al-Shabab militants. Kentucky coach John Calipari and Spencer Haywood were among 11 new inductees named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Duke scored a 68-63 victory over Wisconsin for the program's fifth NCAA national title. Character James Best, 88, best known for his role as Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane on "The Dukes of Hazzard" comedy show, died in Hickory, North Carolina.

Also Room 101 Connies on CI Kung Fu Panda. Prices very decent at $75 a box, but only Torpedo and Churchill as the line fades into the sunset.

I don't know of one myself but has there ever been a "new label" cigar that was as god as what it replaced? Most recent disaster I tried was the Fallen Angle.

Other cigars of the La Jugada line have gotten positive reviews. Didn't do anything for me, so had no real interest in trying the NunChuck. Not bad, just not in my profile.

That's probably the only Espinosa (after the split) cigar I like...so of course it costs twice as much as his others.

I was shocked to see a Perdomo reviewed in CA this month. I had to go back and make sure I hadn't seen that wrong. I was talking to Nick about it once, and he said they never review his sticks, since he doesn't advertise with them. Even went through the whole magazine, to see if there was a Perdomo ad anywhere. Lol
-
While definitely not a Cheapy Cheapo deal, Warped cigars on sale at CDM Cigars. Very enjoyable and unique cigar line to my tastes. The following sampler may be a good introduction:

You're not inferring that CA shows possible bias to those that advertise heavily in their magazine are you?

Not sure if there are any Viaje fans out there, but the new releases in the Zombie line: Antidote, Super Shot, Green and Red are available at Atlantic starting at 11:00.

yes.
😉
was going up north to see my kids last week of this month, then they changed it to 1st week in May, then Mother's Day, then last week in May, now around Father's Day in June. everything with my girls is subject to change without notice. I have always been a second class citizen to them. if they can decide when they have time for me I'll drive up. if not they know where I live.

We've done once in October and this will be twice in April. Weather good both times so far, and the forecast for next week is looking pretty good.
And most of the kiddies are still in school in April, so lack of hot, sweaty, crabby kids and their even more so parents is a big advantage.
-
Oh good laughs this morning. Probably best I take my nap now. Take care guys...
Later Rick. Glad you got the hang of the tapatalk app, the extra star, and the turd emoji, we're just so damn proud of you.

Agreed. Disney has done a good job in promoting "off dates" so there are fewer really light days left, but September, October, November (except Thanksgiving week), first two weeks in Dec., latter half of January and Feb (minus Presidents week), April (except for Easter week) and even early May. are reasonable for temps. and crowds. Jan/Feb the most iffy for temperatures (at least on the revised Dean scale)

Used to be a more regular visitor and have a number of friends that are either regular or employed there. The issue always comes up in chat rooms ect. when people expect Disney to warn them. I'm generally more bothered by cheerleaders and Pop Warner football week in December. But yea, I know pretty much the full official and unofficial Disney calendars.

I went to Disney in August of 2013 it was awesome.
when my wife & I got married, we honeymooned in Disney, along with an au pair, my two kids from my first marraige, and my father in law. Boy was that fun. the "au pair" was one of my wife's childhood friends, who years later in a few email exchanges, tried to get me to meet her for dinner, but don't tell Nadine. not sure if my wife had really shitty friends or was just testing me, I printed out the email chain and gave it to her. Stephanie is no longer a good friend of my wife.

Yeah, it ranked up there with either too good to be true, or
maybe they cooked this up as a test. No, I figured that out when she said, "That bitch, tends to go after married men!"

I think it was the observing how well i treated my wife, back then, first hand.
live karaoke singing presented other problems, women wouldn't believe I was married, and my wife would let me
go out alone. I told them i was available for duets, but not allowed to go home with them, and cook them breakfast, after.

No, that would definitely be a trap.

Or we could be veering into a BD story....

Probably wasn't a test, then. Though, I would've thought the same thing. Lol
Test or no, you sure as hell don't want to come home to find the mistress on the couch with the wife having a sobbing fit of conscience while they plot how to divide up your assets.

Yeah, it ranked up there with either too good to be true, or
maybe they cooked this up as a test. No, I figured that out when she said, "That bitch, tends to go after married men!"
It was probably the karaoke CD which did the trick.
LMFAO!

One of my colleagues is going through something similar, as we speak. Unfortunately he doesn't have emails to back up his position (or lack thereof). He thinks the bitch is crazy enough to sabotage his marriage and say he did it, even if he doesn't. Lose/lose.

He better begin to address the situation/lack of situation first. If any of this dialog starts from another source, he's done.

Too hot then, for me.
We've done once in October and this will be twice in April. Weather good both times so far, and the forecast for next week is looking pretty good.
And there's always May 31 - June 6, 2016 for you progressive types.
I love how you knew those dates right off the top of your head...
Hey, some of my best friends are jewish, black, women, gay.
A gay jewish black woman would be a quadruple threat.

Sad day for country music!
One of the most iconic voices in country music, Merle Haggard, died today at the age of 79.
The singer, best known for songs like “Mama Tried” and “Okie from Muskogee,” had recently canceled scheduled concerts in April in to recuperate from a fight with double pneumonia
