Doctor's Visit
-------------------------

A woman went to the doctor's office, where she was seen by a young, new doctor.

After about 4 minutes in the examination room, the doctor told her she was pregnant.

She burst out, screaming as she ran down the hall.

An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was, and she told him her story.

After listening, he had her sit down and relax in another room.

The doctor marched down the hallway to the back where the first doctor was and demanded,

"What's the matter with you? Mrs. Terry is 59 years old, she has four grown children and seven grandchildren, and you told her she was pregnant?"

The new doctor continued to write on his clipboard and without looking up said:

"Does she still have the hiccups?"

A dry well is an underground structure that disposes of unwanted water, most commonly stormwater runoff, by dissipating it into the ground, where it merges with the local groundwater.

We just use the local creek or bayou for our runoff, we do have a little bit more rainfall every year than most though.

no, has to be done this week, final inspection and approval is Friday. taking her to the golf course tomorrow, wildlife preserve and boating Thursday, diving school and swimming with manatees Friday, and she flies out Friday late afternoon. I should have the dry well done in a few hours, then the beach.

Dry wells are a common thing. If you had an area in your yard that was low or collected rain water and was difficult to dry you simply dig a hole and fill the bottom in with stone to allow the water to have a place to go. They all come in different shapes and designs but that's the basic concept, eliminate standing water

Still confused about that well....most places in Florida don't have basements, so why would you have a sump?  And with Florida water tables (except where there are sinkholes) wouldn't you get more ingress than egress?

Understood, but sometimes I think following code is just going through the motions.  The college up the street is doing new construction and had to build a retention basin as part of that.  The retention basin is next to a lake....WTF?

Pretty hard to dig a dry hole down there!  Now over here it normally pretty tough to drill a hole with water in it but right now you can hit water in as little as 1000 feet.

Yeah seems odd but you never know. Sometimes the township "piggy backs" certain upgrades onto contractor's projects, like "if you want to build this, you're going to include "XYZ" as part of the project".

May be the only way they can get the displaced ground water controlled without affecting the lake

The detention pond is to protect the lake from the nasty polution and silt contained in the runoff that would spoil the lake or kill the fish and turtles if the runoff from the improvements ran in there..

Absolutely, Warden made our son some Thanksgiving Dressing and packed it all up with ice and mailed it priority to him in SC a few years ago when he could not get home.  Took 5 days to get there and he did not even dare open the box.

A couple of decent beers I had a few weeks back.  The middle one is a really cheap Italian beer but better than most cheap shit beers I've tasted.

County starts new hires at the start of a pay period, which is a Friday.  So I'll go in Friday, then recover from the full day of work for the first time in almost a year with a nice three day weekend.

One more month of school, but it's just a pass/fail recap type of class.  I'm told it's guided discussions related to cases in auditing.  Sounds exciting, doesn't it?  I had the graduation ceremony last week, though, I'm just taking this last class over the summer.

good morning Chip. running around with my daughter is wearing me out, but we're having a good time. hitting the beach today after I dig and install a small dry well for the bikerlady.
Can't that wait until next week?  Daughter time is precious.
no, has to be done this week, final inspection and approval is Friday. taking her to the golf course tomorrow, wildlife preserve and boating Thursday, diving school and swimming with manatees Friday, and she flies out Friday late afternoon. I should have the dry well done in a few hours, then the beach.
Still confused about that well....most places in Florida don't have basements, so why would you have a sump?  And with Florida water tables (except where there are sinkholes) wouldn't you get more ingress than egress?
washing machine discharge.

A while because my dentist retired and i put off finding another one but shit is just all getting old and coming apart, crowns (some 30 years old) have small cracks in them and need new ones, old fillings are tired and loose, that sort of stuff.  Expensive things but as to the true dental health status not major.   Blood pressure back up is really what is most concerning by far, that means no more beer just whiskey and wine along with going back to my Mediterranean lifestyle.

Mediterranean lifestyle? you combing the beach for mussels, eating fresh caught seafood with olive oil?  wearing striped shirts and gondola hats?  hello everybody...

Well what part of me will fall apart next, oh yeah it already did my blood pressure was way too high which has not been an issue for 4 or 5 years.   Blame that on the fuk'n swimming pool pissing me off.    Final tally is 4 fillings, 4 crowns and some incidentals.  $5,814.00 with 7 visits 4 of them 2-3 hours.   Insurance will help but it exceeds the annual policy limit.
Yikes, how long has it been?

Happy Tuesday, all, my last one here.  Start the new gig Friday.  I was told yesterday that my day off will be Mondays (4/10 schedule), which is great because if one of the many government holidays falls on a Monday, I get an extra day to take off during the year.  Woohoo!
So you start, work one day and then get a paid day off?
Sounds like you're in the right place.
County starts new hires at the start of a pay period, which is a Friday.  So I'll go in Friday, then recover from the full day of work for the first time in almost a year with a nice three day weekend.
And the following weekend is a four-day weekend?
Yeah, it will be.  Off Friday for 4th of July, then off the Monday after.  I'm actually out of town all next week, same Florida trip we took last year to visit my grandma.  So one day of work, whole week off, recovery day after getting back to San Diego on Sunday.  It'll be unpaid, though, since I won't have accrued any time off yet, but whatever.
Even better, start job, work one day, then vacation day, work four then vacation week.
How did I do it so wrong....?
Correction...work one day then weekend, then four days (probably all orientation) followed by four day weekend, then four day vacation....
How about I just let you know when I actually start working...
Hell, I may be retired by then.
Naw, he'll be a good boy for the first few weeks, get some good government production (oxymoron?) under his belt before the beer and cigar talk draws him back.  Shaun has blazed the trail in that regard.

Yes, he delighted all three of his fans.  RIP, though.

When they get done emptying machine guns into you, you'll smoke like crazy.
Plus you have to procure a conforming coiffure.
You can do it yourself...but you still have to pay the Great Leader for the privilege of wearing his haircut.  And if you don't wear his haircut, they cut off your head.

LOL, I know all about that problem
On a slightly different topic... Before the meeting I'm currently in, I went to congratulate a secretary on her promotion (list was posted today on the Intranet) and found out the rest of her team got laid off yesterday.  So I'm happy that she got promoted but who will she be administratively assisting?  What an ass backwards company.  Sheesh.

Not really, I just had to get home, pick up the brown boxes from the front, light up a MOW Skull Crusher and open a Sam Summer Ale.  Now just waiting on the last bits of Bill to rumble through our area in about an hour.

I got 1 hour 30 minutes to go today but I am OFF tomorrow!
So you're saying it'll take you 90 minutes to get off?
I'm impressed.  90 seconds here.  But it's about quality and not quantitties.
How long have you been saving that one up for?
That stroke of genius just came to me.  I swear.
