Tropics are heating up!
TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
200 AM EDT TUE AUG 2 2016
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
A strong tropical wave over the central Caribbean Sea, located about
150 miles south-southwest of Kingston, Jamaica, continues to move
quickly westward at about 20 mph. Recent satellite data indicate
that the system is producing winds of 40 to 45 mph, but that it
still appears to lack a closed surface circulation. Environmental
conditions are expected to be conducive for additional development,
and a tropical storm is likely to form later today. An Air Force
Reserve Reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the
system this morning. Regardless of development, locally heavy
rainfall and gusty winds, perhaps to tropical storm force, will
continue over portions of Jamaica this morning and reach the Cayman
Islands later today. Interests in these areas and elsewhere in the
western Caribbean Sea should continue to monitor the progress of
this disturbance. For additional information, see High Seas
Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...80 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent
High Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service can be
found under AWIPS header NFDHSFAT1, WMO header FZNT01 KWBC, and on
the Web at http://www.opc.ncep.noaa.gov/shtml/NFDHSFAT1.shtml.

Today is Tuesday, Aug. 2, the 215th day of 2016. There are 151 days left in the year.
Today's Highlight in History:
On Aug. 2, 1776, members of the Continental Congress began attaching their signatures to the Declaration of Independence.
On this date:
In 216 B.C., during the Second Punic War, Carthaginian forces led by Hannibal defeated the Roman army in the Battle of Cannae.
In 1873, inventor Andrew S. Hallidie (HAH'-lih-day) successfully tested a cable car he had designed for the city of San Francisco.
In 1876, frontiersman "Wild Bill" Hickok was shot and killed while playing poker at a saloon in Deadwood, Dakota Territory, by Jack McCall, who was later hanged.
In 1909, the original Lincoln "wheat" penny first went into circulation, replacing the "Indian Head" cent.
In 1923, the 29th president of the United States, Warren G. Harding, died in San Francisco; Vice President Calvin Coolidge became president.
In 1934, German President Paul von Hindenburg died, paving the way for Adolf Hitler's complete takeover.
In 1939, Albert Einstein signed a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt urging creation of an atomic weapons research program. President Roosevelt signed the Hatch Act, which prohibited civil service employees from taking an active part in political campaigns.
In 1943, during World War II, U.S. Navy boat PT-109, commanded by Lt. (jg) John F. Kennedy, sank after being rammed in the middle of the night by the Japanese destroyer Amagiri off the Solomon Islands. Two crew members were killed.
In 1964, the destroyer USS Maddox suffered light damage during a skirmish with North Vietnamese patrol torpedo boats in the Gulf of Tonkin. (This and an alleged second incident two days later led to congressional approval of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution that propelled America deep into war.)
In 1974, former White House counsel John W. Dean III was sentenced to one to four years in prison for obstruction of justice in the Watergate coverup. (Dean ended up serving four months.)
In 1985, 137 people were killed when Delta Air Lines Flight 191, a Lockheed L-1011 Tristar, crashed while attempting to land at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
In 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait, seizing control of the oil-rich emirate. (The Iraqis were later driven out in Operation Desert Storm.)
Ten years ago: Five days after being pulled over by police, actor-director Mel Gibson was charged with misdemeanor drunken driving, having an elevated blood-alcohol level and having an open container of liquor in his car. (Gibson later pleaded no contest to drunken driving under a deal in which he received three years' probation, paid a fine and agreed to attend alcohol rehabilitation classes.)
Five years ago: The Senate passed, and President Barack Obama signed, legislation to avoid an unprecedented national default. New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira (teh-SHEHR'-uh) set a major league record when he homered from both sides of the plate for the 12th time in his career during a 6-0 win over the Chicago White Sox.
One year ago: The International Olympic Committee said it would order testing for disease-causing viruses in the sewage-polluted waters where athletes would be competing in the 2016 Rio Games, days after an Associated Press investigation revealed high counts of viruses directly linked to human waste in the waters. Inbee Park of South Korea rallied to win the Women's British Open to become the seventh women to win four different major championships.

Well after yesterday we had to get some Policies and Procedures for the monthly office meeting. Hopefully I played a roll in that when I lost control of the worlds most powerful retractable ink pen and it shot like a titan missile halfway across the conference room hitting the opposing table. Unfortunately it did not hit the person sitting in the seat behind it.

Yup, after you start setting policies and ground rules for meetings, you are guaranteed not to get anything accomplished at them.

traveled to Staten Island on Sunday, was instructed to return with two items:

2.) New York bagels....
beat the rain back, but it came down in droves as I went to leave the legion,
sat back down and finished my beer. Some streets were flooded on the short ride home.

Lol, that's pretty much Star Trek in a nutshell. They have a tendency to do that at the end. "Maybe if I just boost this, ok, problem solved."

Ooh... hurried end. So a 2 hour movie (which some say "seems" longer) tries to wrap up in a few minutes... cliff hanger? Forget it. Don't say anything. haha

I wouldn't say hurried. But this movie spends more time on a personal level with the characters, I think. So the action at the end seems like it could've gone longer. TWSS?

That actually sounds good. Was worried it may go too over the top with the action. A concern I believe you had as well. Character development is always good... although, we pretty much know these. Just not as younger versions. Glad he showed some restraint and didn't make a 2 hour chase scene.

Yea, always.
Just thought there were too many twists, reveals, discoveries, events thrown out there all at once. Nothing really as a teaser/cliffhanger like Marvel movies. Most likely one new character to be joining the cast as a regular.

Some movies can be good, wall to wall action. A movie like John Wick, and I'm not a Keanu fan, can be good... if you're okay with that much violence. ;)

Georgia Man, 55, Busted After Raging At Wife Over Too Cheesy Grilled Cheese Sandwich
A Georgia man is facing criminal charges after raging at his spouse for making a grilled cheese sandwich too cheesy, cops allege.
According to an Athens-Clarke County Police Department report, James De Paola, 55, began “shouting and cursing” at his wife Michelle during a confrontation last Wednesday afternoon in the couple’s Athens home.
The unemployed De Paola became incensed at his 51-year-old spouse due to her “using three slices of cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich.” De Paola told cops that he had told the victim she “could make a grilled cheese sandwich with two pieces of cheese instead of three.”
De Paola’s wife told police that he was shouting in her face and that his spit hit her in the face. She added that her husband “has a history of violent and abusive behavior” that includes a prior arrest and the issuance of a restraining order.
During the incident, De Paola’s wife directed the couple’s nine-year-old daughter to dial 911. But De Paola subsequently yanked the phone cord from the wall and slammed the device on the ground. The couple’s 12-year-old daughter then used her mother’s cell phone to summon police.

I think unemployed is the key word in that article.

Plus, he's 55, and has a 9-year-old. Someone who probably is a little pissed at life all the time anyways, then extra gooey cheese to top it off! Also, he lives in GA, so... ;)

Well, a dew point of @75 for the past two weeks has been pretty miserable. The thick morning fog has been a clear indicator of the days events. Need Bean to confirm the numbers, but 70 +/- degrees @ 70 +/- dewpont = f'kn sauna.
