Post by: CigarBanter on February 23, 2015, 12:00:03 AM
Friggin Monday already?  At least Dean's happy.  The rest of us may find solace in cigar deals found on the various internet sites.  Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something along the way.  Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour a drink and welcome aboard!

I wasn't going to retire, but they kept making my job more and more hell.  Then when they made me an offer I just said the hell with it and retired.  As it happened, my granddaughter was born 5 months later and I've been babysitting ever since.  Oh well...!

Alaska
-------------------------

Sam has been in business for 25 years and is finally sick of the stress. He quits his job and buys 50 acres in Alaska as far from humanity as possible. He sees the postman once a week and gets groceries once a month. Otherwise it's total peace and quiet. After six months or so of almost total isolation, someone knocks on his door. He opens it and there's a big, bearded man standing there.

"Name's Lars ...Your neighbor from forty miles away....Having a birthday party Friday ... Thought you might like to come. About 5...

"Great," says Sam, "after six months out here I'm ready to meet some local folks. Thank you."

As Lars is leaving, he stops. "Gotta warn you...There's gonna be some drinkin'."

"Not a problem... after 25 years in business, I can drink with the best of em."

Again, as he starts to leave, Lars stops. "More'n'likely gonna be some fightin' too."

Sam says, "Well, I get along with people. I'll be there. Thanks again."

Once again Lars turns from the door. "I've seen some wild sex at these parties, too."

"Now that's really not a problem," says Sam. "I've been all alone for six months! I'll definitely be there. By the way, what should I bring?"

Lars stops in the door again and says, "Whatever you want, just gonna be the two of us".

I am hoping I am over it.   Magnum is doing great after a week.  Everything is good and far ahead of schedule for his recovery. Will get his stitches out later this week.

When I left the 'house' to go start the car Sunday morning and came back inside I honestly felt nauseous...
Can't say I didn't warn you about the ventilation system
The smell of beer and farts was enough to kill a man...then add in 11 guys who hadn't showered in 40hours
Why do you think we were busting your balls about this?

Mornin gents!
Morning, IceHoleShaun.
These new 2D, enhanced with shading, stars look nice Tony.  Mornin Dave!
He's really spoiling us now.
Feels weird being back in civilization - not sure if I like it  ;)
Everyone make it out of the ice house alive and no less sane than when they entered?
Everyone lived - 2 people puked Friday night, 2 puked Saturday, 2 puked Sunday morning, 1 guy shit is pants Sat night(no joke - at about 4am(wasn't Ben)) ;)  Ben stayed pretty sober after Friday, he didn't look too good Saturday
Oh lord, good times  :o  And what about our man Shaun?  Hopefully you brought a change of underwear.

Oh that's right. Ice holes. I forgot. Sorry.

I spent the weekend in a haze. Had to play two gigs, leg and shoulder got to hurting bad, and I'm off the opiates. So I medicated with hydroxyzine and whiskey to knock the pain back. The brain isn't awake yet.

And which one is Ben? Nobody put some sense into him... some friends.  ;)
Ben is the tall skinny one reaching onto the table

If I had to guess, I'd say the one on the far right.
Good call, he has a funny look on his face already. I mean how does a full grown adult shit his pants?
He is known to pee the bed when he gets sloppy - this was just a combo of not shitting during the day and trusting a fart, gone horribly wrong!

Got an e-mail from iHavanas that included a guest review of some H. Uppman robusto.  It contained this quote:

"Right now, it is smoking between an 88 and 90, but with age I believe it will be at a level between 92 and 94."

So...might be a 93.629584903?  Or maybe a 92.66666666666?

OK, we've all seen how not to do a boys weekend, now let's see the flip side. The attached link is where LTG and I, along with 3 others will be staying during CigarFest this year and hosting a Friday Fiesta Grande like it's our job. This place comes complete with real beds, gas grill, indoor plumbing and is located right across the lake from Split Rock

later Dave, I may be gone when you get back, heading north today, Bronson, Chiefland, and Gainsville 'home' hunting, south is VERY expensive.
I believe Richard on the Howard Stern show said he lived in a storage unit for 2 years in Florida. They have storage units for cars and campers, so ya could just pull your car, close the door, and I guess no one would know.  Come up with a way to handle the heat, and I bet it could be done...?  I think I'll surf the net on, "how to live in a storage unit."  Sorry, just trying to think outside of the box for a change.. :)

not really, I bid what i wouldn't mind paying, sometime I only keep the bid for an hour, sometimes a day.
like $19 for a 5 pack of Papas fritas($22), or $13 for a fiver of  My father Le Bijou it went for $37.  $13 for five packs of 3 different size Oliva V's ($40, $20 & $24).  but i did win a lot of Gurkha at $2 a stick plus shipping.

if there was too much celebrating last night, you need a bit of the hair of the dog that bit you.  so a screwdriver or bloody mary might have been called for.  I remember putting some Harveys Bristol cream sherry in a big glass of ice water with aspirins would do the trick in my college days, but that was the late 70's.

first 1/3 was a solid good Connie, the 2nd 1/3 is starting out with a wonderful transition, more flavor and the draw burn and construction are flawless.

Not sure if it's the fermenting or adding of chemicals - I've never had a cuban tar up on me while plenty of NCs have across many brands.

Coincidently, smoking a LGC Serie R and getting some tar.  Use the Xikar 11 mm punch which leaves a recess and the tar is accumulating on the exposed filler in the recess which is at least 1/4 inch below the head.

Hiya Mike.  I've had that happen to me with punch more than any other cut.  When it does occur, I usually take a guillotine to it and the problem goes away.  By the way, I have absolutely had that happen to me with a Cuban cigar.

I get the feeling that tar occurs when the tobacco was not cured long enough.  Gots to ferment the tar and nicotine out of the tobacco.  Oh, good afternoon Tony.

Agreed - maybe what I Was getting at was more of the chemicals that are used on NCs. Like Drew Estate uses a 'fermenting juice' they have some name for that they spray the leaves with, essentially a fermenting liquid and a dye.

Afternoon all.  Sick as a dog and out of town ain't that fun!  Thought I was better when I left home this morning but thought I was going to die when I got here.
if there was too much celebrating last night, you need a bit of the hair of the dog that bit you.  so a screwdriver or bloody mary might have been called for.  I remember putting some Harveys Bristol cream sherry in a big glass of ice water with aspirins would do the trick in my college days, but that was the late 70's.
That is definitely not the problem, 2 beers on Saturday was the last thing I drank.

Ah-ha! That explains it, not enough beer
Brilliant!  Great diagnosis, doctor!
Yeah, I'm pretty good at it

I'll call a nurse.  Blonde, brunette, or redhead?

Well, I ordered up all three.  But like I said, this is Obamacare.  So instead of one of each, you're getting a 300 pound brunette with blonde and red highlights.  Her name is Helga.

That sounds an awful lot like my wife.  She's been wanting to go to Texas... Enjoy, Dave!

See?  Obamacare is reducing the cost of healthcare.  Tony will happily pick up the cost of a one way ticket for his wife to come pump beer up your ass.

Oh, and here, Tex.  This will make you smile.  Somali terrorist group al-Shabab has called for a terrorist attack on Mall of America, which is in Minnesota which boasts the largest concentration of expat Somalis in the US.  We shouldn't worry, though.  MOA has banned guns on its premises.

That was definitely a nicer van than the Odyssey I drive.  Especially if it comes with Gurkhas.
