HAPPY FRIDAY!!! Hopefully you'll get to start the weekend early. Otherwise, perhaps some cigar deals will help ya get through to tomorrow. Share what you know in this forum and perhaps learn something about cigars along the way. Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike. Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin. If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour your favorite beverage and welcome aboard!

Thought I'd get a chance to banter but been busy on this conference call/implementation. We began at 10 and still have about an hour to go. Sheesh.
-
And I'm on call, waiting for maintenance to finish so I can restart systems.
-
In the end, I bowed to the Wisdom of Tex.

I didn't think anyone would be around to play so I didn't even bother looking back. Hi Bret, if you're still around. I'm still here working but we're about 90 minutes ahead of schedule. Hoping we can wrap it up very shortly.

Hi backatcha, T. Glad it's going well. I'm done, just hanging for a few minutes to make sure everything stays running.

Just poured myself some bourbon, so I'm gonna stick for a while. Figuring out the all the nuances of operation of my newest firearm.

Hiya, Chip!

Good morning guys.
Good morning, Chip. Betcha didn't think you'd already see a page of posts. Although you probably thought there'd be a jam. Sheesh.
-
I really thought there would be a jam, Friday jams always did the best but I really don't think CI is in it for sales anymore.
-
2700, and I have nothing witty to say. Not even in Spanish. Maybe I'm a commie.
But we'll get post 2700 out the way, anyway.
-
I really thought there would be a jam, Friday jams always did the best but I really don't think CI is in it for sales anymore.
Which begs the question...what are they in it for?

You guys need to see if you can work at Natives company, it sounds like his guys have it pretty easy and I bet they don't work at night.

Daylight Savings is good for me because I go to work in the dark year round either way so at least I get more light after getting home with the change.

It is a nice computer gig but we have had a nationwide firing freeze for almost a year and probably last at least thru June or longer. We got one that will retire in a couple of years but I doubt they will replace him. For Tony OR Raz it would take either one of them about 30 minutes per day to replace both of those ass clowns and do 10 times more. Very rare night work and you get comp time.

Before the days of smoking bans, Bob Atchisson and a group of gentlemen gathered at Sam's Steakhouse in Grantwood Village once a month for cuisine, conversation and cigars. The group regularly sat at table 36, and the staff knew when they were coming.
"People based their car insurance budget and things like that on our night out," Atchisson said, referencing the bill and tip the group left for their usual waiter. "Then the smoking ban happened and we were moved out. The owners hated it."
The crew couldn't smoke their cigars at the restaurant because the 2011 countywide ban barred smoking inside public workplaces and businesses whose sales of food amounted to more than 25 percent.
While the bans may be rooted in public health, Atchisson, who founded and presides over local cigar distributor Table 36, said laws that ban smoking in public negatively affect not only the cigar industry, but also small businesses.
Without places to light up, Atchisson said fewer people turn to the habit, which in turn affects the stores, restaurants or bars they would have patronized. That's why he and fellow cigar enthusiasts decided to recognize March 6 as National Smoke a Cigar Day.

That's the main reason - if it's a good one, someone will post it :)

Good mornin all!
Morning CG. Golf starts at noon today. :)
I will be watching that - weather is getting nice here, highs in the 40s and 50s in the next 10days!
It's sad what qualifies as 'getting nice' these days. Morning Shaun.
Agreed! It's a dismal time of year!
Beautiful sunrise here right now but 28 degrees with a heavy frost covering the ground.

I think I need to scale back the cigar emails, it's a little out of control ;) I don't think half of the companies I have ever purchased from either...

23 I think but can't tell from pic if a Gen 4. I got both 22 & 23 but 23 is the better choice. 22C was my first Glock, I do like the C much less recoil.

Finishing up today on the devil, Hairy Dog churchill box at $37 and Fighting Cock Toro box at $22

It would have been nice if they'd sent an email out warning us that there had been a fire in the building yesterday and all the elevators are out of service today. I might have chosen to work from home again today. Sheesh. The good news is that I got my exercise for the month out of the way by the 6th.

well we do work in NYC, some of the buildings here have a few floors. I work on the 6th, I will occasionally walk down, but probably would work from the lobby, if there was a problem with the elevators.

Now I got to wait to hear the story because I am surprised, but those Commie Austrians make good guns. :)
Not much of a story. The deal was better on the Glock than the Springfield, the ergonomics of the Springfield were not sufficiently better than the Glock to sway me, they didn't have the Springfield package I wanted, and the ubiquity of Glock means cheaper and more plentiful aftermarket accessories. It was a bang for buck decision.
The simpler manual of arms for the Glock also appealed for the sake of the warden. It's a weapon she can just point and shoot. That means a greater chance she'll kill me outright, rather than wounding or disabling me.
Also, the Croats who manufacture the XD's are more commie than the Austrians.

Good morning guys.
Good morning, Chip. Betcha didn't think you'd already see a page of posts. Although you probably thought there'd be a jam. Sheesh.
You guys need to see if you can work at Natives company, it sounds like his guys have it pretty easy and I bet they don't work at night.
Bonus! More time to banter! Do we have to move to Texas? Always said I wouldn't, but I'm getting a little sick of the commies up here.
Question is whether Tony could handle living in Texas...

Yeah, you don't want her to start thinking before popping you. :)
Yep lots of goodies! Put some quality night sights on it first though. Amazon has some good deals on Tru Glo's. Also you can use an X Grip adapter and use higher capacity G22 magazines in there perfectly. FYI if you did not know it the magazines for 22/23's are interchangeable with those for 31/32's. Also you can buy a G32 barrel and swap it out in about 3 minutes to shoot .357 Sigs.

We got one that will retire in a couple of years but I doubt they will replace him. For Tony OR Raz it would take either one of them about 30 minutes per day to replace both of those ass clowns and do 10 times more. Very rare night work and you get comp time.
Bonus! More time to banter! Do we have to move to Texas? Always said I wouldn't, but I'm getting a little sick of the commies up here.
Question is whether Tony could handle living in Texas...
He could do it, it would mean instead of enchilada sauce the burritos would have to be served ala parmigiana,
and you take the soft tacos, and you dip them in an egg batter then lightly fry them like mozzarella en carozza.

Good morning guys.
Good morning, Chip. Betcha didn't think you'd already see a page of posts. Although you probably thought there'd be a jam. Sheesh.

Just read in Nat. Geographic that Portland is the one city that voted against fluridating it's water, because people don't want chemicals in it....also one of the highest anti-vacc states. Commies for sure.
Commies, hell. Folks are just plain looney down there.

Morning, mucha-I mean, young men.

Very important consideration! Did you look at the FNS?
I did. And I decided I like the look and feel of the FNS. But the Glock was still $60 cheaper, and I actually have some shooting time with Glocks.
Price definite deciding point.
Here's a proper comparison...
My youngest with my FNS and his brothers Glock....(almost got us thrown off the range, but he enjoyed it.)

I see they now have some lots that are quick buy only, don't remember seeing that before, without the option to bid.

It is a G22 so doesn't need the extenders. And the ability to switch out to .357 Sig also factored in to my decision.
I still like the 23, compact without making me dangle fingers. So when I've recovered from this purchase I'm inclined to get a 23 to be the warden's gun.

It is a G22 so doesn't need the extenders. And the ability to switch out to .357 Sig also factored in to my decision.
I still like the 23, compact without making me dangle fingers. So when I've recovered from this purchase I'm inclined to get a 23 to be the warden's gun.
I have the 23 and can vouch for that choice. Don't know if she's planning to CC, but it may be a little large for that duty, for a woman at least.
Can't convince her to CC yet. Working on it. But she's a paraeducator in a classroom full of autistic kids, so even if it was legal to carry at school here, would not be a good idea. So she'd only be carrying for shopping trips and hanging with friends.

One that comes with the gun is useless crap which is why you can't figure it out. These really work and you can load 15 rounds quick and painless after about 5 minutes of practice.

I CC a G33. Looking at getting a G30S now that they are available again. You can X Grip adapt a 32 Magazine to a 33 which makes for a great 13 round carry. Also can adapt a 21 mag to a 30S for a 13 round .45 Carry.

It's related. When my buddy and I went to the IDPA match on Saturday, must have been 20 guys there smoking cigars. That factored into my decision to hurry up an purchase a new pistol.

That looks like fun but would definitely get you thrown off around here. I got a warning for not spacing my shots at least a second apart. Sheesh.
This is prick city for gun ranges, along with a lot of other pleasures like smoking cigars.
Despite the fact that the damn place didn't have warnings or barriers up to prevent me falling and busting up my leg, I like the range I go to. It's outside, the RMs aren't total assholes, and I can always go after hours and not have to deal with RM's at all. I just have to make sure not to fall in holes.

Damn good indoor one my son took me to in Charleston. They even had Machine Gun Fridays. All I got anywhere down this way is Reds overpriced total Prick indoor range.
-
Final gun post and I'll let the banter return to the regularly-scheduled lineup of insults and irony.
I think it was Mark that recommended the S&W M&P's. A lot of the M&P's I tried didn't feel right in my hand. I'm closer to JWacky-sized than to most of you mofos. But I did find one M&P last night that did feel right and came close to buying it. But the topography of the slide concerned me...seemed to me that there were opportunities there to grab wrong or tear up my hands in a competition setting. Still, I liked the pistol.
A'ight, I won't bore y'all with gun talk anymore. Tex can feel free to PM me info about gadgets and goodies.

Exactly. I go with a friend who's a member, but we're trying to get them to give me a free lifetime membership, since I haven't sued them (yet).

Bonus! More time to banter! Do we have to move to Texas? Always said I wouldn't, but I'm getting a little sick of the commies up here.
Question is whether Tony could handle living in Texas...
Tony could handle Austin. Real Texas, I don't know...
The flip side is can Texas handle Tony. I mean we've put up with a lot, but come on!
Sheesh. I thought everything was BIG in Texas? I'd fit in perfectly.

Tony could handle Austin. Real Texas, I don't know...
The flip side is can Texas handle Tony. I mean we've put up with a lot, but come on!
Sheesh. I thought everything was BIG in Texas? I'd fit in perfectly.
Waco awaits you.
Or are they awaiting a WhackO?
Either way. The wife mentioned it again the other day. I'd consider it if she were serious.
Have her start doing the shoveling and she will be ready to get out of there soon. ;D

In the end, I bowed to the Wisdom of Tex.

Morning, mucha-I mean, young men.
It is a G22 so doesn't need the extenders. And the ability to switch out to .357 Sig also factored in to my decision.
I still like the 23, compact without making me dangle fingers. So when I've recovered from this purchase I'm inclined to get a 23 to be the warden's gun.
I thought it was a 23. Glock makes a 30 round mag also that is fun to use sometimes. By the way as with most guns aftermarket magazines are not a good alternative.
Tell me. That's one advantage of the 1911, aftermarket parts are often better.
Damn Glock mags are tough to load when new though.
You have come to the right place for Glock Solutions! Can't use hi capacity mags of any kind without this little tool. About $25 at Amazon and worth a fortune.
http://www.maglula.com/product/uplula-9mm-to-45acp/
Something similar comes with the gun, but I never figured out how to use it. This one has more features than the simple plastic one included in the case.
Yea, took me halfway into loading the second of three mags to get the hang of the included loader. You have to push the stack down enough to get the new cartridge under the lips of the magazine, then release enough for the cartridge to slide in past the tongue of the loader.
Dear God...TWSS.
LuLu is operated by squeezing the handle and smooth as silk with a little practice.

LuLu likes her handle squeezed, does she?

my wife shovels the snow, I had to have a quad bypass first. yesterday I did use the snowblower, though.
did our driveway, and the neighbors driveway(they have us over for bar-b-ques and pool parties in the summer) only thought it was fair. Besides this is the 3rd or 4th year he is corning a fresh brisket for St. Patrick's day, that i will be cooking in beer and serving on the 15th. Unfortunately already have 11 people at the table, so can't invite any Botl's over. :(

I fell asleep with the tv on when I went to bed last night. It was on the science channel, and they were showing UFO and Aliens all night. OK if you can't find the frozen fish squares, i'm going to give you the benefit of my high school geometry education to help you out. Put one fish stick rectangle, next to another one, lining up the long sides next to each other, on the bun. if it looks like the Letter "T" or a long Letter "I", you have done it wrong. if it looks kinda square, congratulations. real fish fillet portions, which are batter dipped and fried, will work as well, but they will be annoyingly "fish shaped". I don't want to even know where you are getting square rolls from to begin with.

We used to be able to buy the same fish squares like they use at McDonalds. The fish stick seem to be more breading and less fish. If I wanted good fish, I'd have to stop being lazy and buy some cod from the deli and some Golden Dip Fish Fry to bread it with. yummy...!

I'm sure that happens to all you guys too..! Don't you hate it when that happens...?
you do know, most of what you see on the the TV, isn't real don't you? Unless you are watching the news, that is, unless it's FOX news.
And then only if it is not Giraldo Rivera, Jaun Williams, Kirsten Powers or Bob Beckel.
oh good, I was wondering if my microphone(keyboard) was live...
Looks like CB has killed the banter again.

We had a well documented UFO that flew from Alton, IL to Dupo, IL. From what people said, I've come to the conclusion that it was a military stealth blimp.

Went and grabbed lunch at local McDonalds, two filet of fish for $4, if I wanted one it would have been $4.19! Mother didn't raise any dumb kids that lived.
Haven't had a McFiletOFish in a looooong time. Howdy, Flip.
hey Tony, you getting ready for your trip downstairs yet, or have they fixed the elevators....
I think he has to start warming up.
They are bringing in a power chair lift for him.
I love McDonalds fish sandwich... You know, we can't find the frozen fish squares in the grocery stores any more, so we can't make fish sandwich's at home anymore.
If I wanted good fish, I'd have to stop being lazy and buy some cod from the deli and some Golden Dip Fish Fry to bread it with. yummy...!
there is your big mistake - I get bologna, roast beef, pastrami, and turkey & cheese at the deli or deli counter. try getting your fish at a fish market, or a fish counter in a supermarket. up North, we get deli stuff, from our delicatessen's! ::)

or as a famous comedian once said, why is it that UFO's never land by Harvard, or MIT, it always witnessed by two yahoos in a trailer park, who had been drinking moonshine!

Local parish has fish fry dinner followed by The Stations of the Cross ... they say they use flounder (real non-Chinese fish!) ... my parish has soup and bread, followed by the Stations ... the idea is you're doing penance, and offering up as a donation for the meal, what it would cost if you went out or ate at home ... the money goes to a worthy charity (Food for the Poor or something similar). One time they had broccoli cheddar which was unbelievably tasty ... didn't feel like a sacrifice at all ... they said they used the Panera recipe. Delicious. Meatless Italian Wedding soup with faux meatballs ... pretty good also ... but usually pretty plain ... which is okay ... one day a week ... one meal a week ... BIG sacrifice!!!

Hi SLY. Always great to see you.
Hi Tony! Turned into a really nice day, once the sun was out for awhile and warmed things up (in the sunshine, not shade). Hallelujah ... I just got the e-mail notification sent out to those on the CFest Friday waiting list ... didn't wait to leave the supermarket, I called the rep right away and secured two tickets for my blind CiL, Gene, and myself, and a hat for Gene. Yippee ... I'm now kosher/legit for CFest. My friend, Dave (VA Dave we'll call him), who drove last year, had scored his ticket on the original sale day. So, we're looking forward to "seeing" you guys last year. Gene, had such a blast, that within a short period of time, he was talking about wanting to return for 2015. You guys treated him so nicely ... I want to thank you, Charlie, Mike, Kirpal, everyone who was friendly to him ... he's got great friends at home in the Baltimore area that he herfs with on a regular basis and you guys made him feel right at home.

I want to thank you, Charlie, Mike, Kirpal, everyone who was friendly to him ... he's got great friends at home in the Baltimore area that he herfs with on a regular basis and you guys made him feel right at home.
Congratulations!

60 degrees and sunny, enjoying an Espinosa and a Beer Camp. Both Great!
Finally! Fish has been waiting patiently for your opinion.

If I wanted good fish, I'd have to stop being lazy and buy some cod from the deli and some Golden Dip Fish Fry to bread it with. yummy...!
there is your big mistake - I get bologna, roast beef, pastrami, and turkey & cheese at the deli or deli counter. try getting your fish at a fish market, or a fish counter in a supermarket. up North, we get deli stuff, from our delicatessen's! ::)
Pasta with white clam sauce for me today.
Hah, Panera Soups are made in a huge commercial food processing plant in Springfield, MO and shipped out frozen under many different names.
Really ... thanks for the info ... I have only been a few times, but I did like the broccoli cheddar soup. Dumb me, I thought they whipped it up in the store ... I think their soup recipes are available online ...
1. Broccoli Cheddar: 50 lbs. of Cheddar Cheese ... 65 lbs. of broccoli ... 25 gallons of water ... 10 lbs of salt ... yield ... 30 gallons of soup ... 480 cups of soup.

that's what the modify button is for....
I made a conscious decision to allow the modify. Always pissed me off on CI's site that I can't do that.
Modify is one of the two best features so you can fix things the autocorrect fuct up. Other top thing is posting pictures, despite a few of them.
Agreed. And I've made some changes that hopefully have made it a little easier to post a photo. But maybe too easy.

Thank you, TR. This is the third year I have struck out on the day of the sale, but all three times they've come through via the waiting list ... last year was a squeaker, I got two out of only 25 tickets available (people cancel, etc.). Felt very lucky. I felt a little anxious this year, since another person was dependent on me.
Are you planning to go, Tex?

First one I have tried but good stuff. He was worried because I bought 36 bottles based on his recommendation, or at least he thought that anyway. ;D.

I'm outta here, gentlemen. I meant to leave by 3:PM and got stuck with work. In fact, I'll probably be doing some over the weekend too. Hope the outsource company treats them with as much attention. And here's hoping you get warm enough weather to smoke something this weekend.

My Famous order with the Asylums and V Lanceros shipped yesterday. Apparently they threw in a Camacho Corojo and a Rocky Patel Nicaraguan. Always nice to get semi-free cigars.
I've had maybe two RP Nicaraguan torps and enjoyed them enough to order a 5 pack.

Yup. Glock 22 Gen 4. I'd been looking at a Springfield XD, and liked the ergonomics slightly better, but the deal on the Glock was irresistible.
Sorry to be slow responding. Had to drive home from the park & ride.

All good, Brett. Understood. I'm glad I live in a big small town and don't have a commute. You can get after market grips for the Glock.

I dunno that the Gen 4 needs much improving. The XD touts that it has the identical grip angle to a 1911. But in look and feel it's more like a Browning High Power. The Glock seems to borrow a page from the 1911A1, with the bulge in the handle subbing for a rounded backstrap. Since I carry a 1943 A1, both the Springfield and the Glock obviously fall in my ballpark. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
But I really like the stippling on the Gen 4. So I don't feel much need to tweak.

If I was shooting .45, I would opt for a 1911 style, but not for a CCW. Always looked at the 1911 as a "battle" weapon anyhoo. Never was a fan of having to add to a handgun to make it feel right either. More into having the the gun "feel good" and adapting my handling of it to that aspect of the gun. I've got an old 60's Charter .38 Undercover for my CC. Not a range weapon for sure. Not a battle gun either, but if I can't get myself out of trouble with 5 shots, I'm dead anyway.

Got the flat blackstrap on my 1911 simply because it fit better in my hand.
