Online shopping pushes UPS to add Saturday delivery
Saturday deliveries will begin this month in 15 metropolitan areas, including New York, Chicago and Boston, UPS said. That builds on test operations that started in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Los Angeles last year. Coverage will expand to 4,700 cities and towns by November and to 5,800 in 2018, UPS said.

Today is Tuesday, April 4, the 94th day of 2017. There are 271 days left in the year.
Today's Highlight in History:
On April 4, 1968, civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., 39, was shot and killed on a balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.
On this date:
In 1818, Congress decided the flag of the United States would consist of 13 red and white stripes and 20 stars, with a new star to be added for every new state of the Union.
In 1841, President William Henry Harrison succumbed to pneumonia one month after his inaugural, becoming the first U.S. chief executive to die in office.
In 1859, "Dixie" was performed publicly for the first time by Bryant's Minstrels at Mechanics' Hall in New York.
In 1864, President Abraham Lincoln, in a letter to Kentucky newspaper editor Albert G. Hodges, wrote: "I claim not to have controlled events, but confess plainly that events have controlled me."
In 1887, Susanna Madora Salter became the first woman elected mayor of an American community: Argonia, Kansas.
In 1917, the U.S. Senate voted 82-6 in favor of declaring war against Germany (the House followed suit two days later by a vote of 373-50).
In 1933, the Navy airship USS Akron crashed in severe weather off the New Jersey coast with the loss of 73 lives.
In 1949, 12 nations, including the United States, signed the North Atlantic Treaty in Washington, D.C.
In 1958, Johnny Stompanato, an enforcer for crime boss Mickey Cohen and the boyfriend of actress Lana Turner, was stabbed to death by Turner's teenage daughter, Cheryl Crane, who said Stompanato had attacked her mother.
In 1975, more than 130 people, most of them children, were killed when a U.S. Air Force transport plane evacuating Vietnamese orphans crash-landed shortly after takeoff from Saigon. Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In 1983, the space shuttle Challenger roared into orbit on its maiden voyage. (It was destroyed in the disaster of Jan. 1986.)
In 1991, Sen. John Heinz, R-Pa., and six other people, including two children, were killed when a helicopter collided with Heinz's plane over a schoolyard in Merion, Pennsylvania.

Ten years ago: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (ah-muh-DEE'-neh-zhahd) announced the surprise release of 15 captive British sailors and marines. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad over White House objections. Radio shock jock Don Imus outraged some of his listeners by disparaging the Rutgers University women's basketball team as "nappy headed hos." (Despite an apology, Imus was fired by CBS Radio and cable network MSNBC; he was hired elsewhere by year's end.)
Five years ago: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney unleashed a strong attack on President Barack Obama's truthfulness, accusing him of running a "hide-and-seek" re-election campaign in an address to newspaper editors and publishers. A federal judge sentenced five former New Orleans police officers to prison for the deadly Danziger Bridge shootings in the chaotic days following Hurricane Katrina. (The verdicts in the case were later set aside by the judge, who cited prosecutorial misconduct; the officers pleaded guilty in 2016 to reduced charges.)
One year ago: The Supreme Court, in Evenwel v. Abbott, unanimously endorsed election maps that bolstered the growing political influence of America's Latinos, ruling that states could count everyone, not just eligible voters, in drawing voting districts. A tourist helicopter crashed and burned in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in eastern Tennessee, killing all five people aboard. Kris Jenkins hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Villanova to the national title with a 77-74 victory over North Carolina in one of the wildest finishes in the history of the NCAA Tournament. Allen Iverson, Shaquille O'Neal, Tom Izzo, Sheryl Swoopes, Yao Ming and Jerry Reinsdorf were elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Sheesh Again!
Another federal worker was caught watching pornography on the job.
Internal investigators with the Commerce Department said they found 300 pornographic images and videos on a hard drive used by a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office employee. The agency's internal web filters blocked access to a site suspected of hosting child pornography, they said.
They declined to say which trademark office location was involved. There are several across the country.
The worker resigned and moved before the agency could take some type of disciplinary action. He'd previously been disciplined in a prior case.
Earlier this month, the News4 I-Team reported about 100 cases in recent years in which federal agencies found employees watching egregious quantities of pornography.
Formal investigations into the behavior were launched, and the House Oversight Committee approved new legislation to make it illegal for federal employers to surf porn on the job.

It's never the motivation I need, it's the time and the money. But hopefully, if my dad stays away from car accidents that break his back and his ribs, then perhaps I'll golf a bit more this year. Lol

So the house behind us, older people, were moving down to NC to be closer to family. Tried selling the house and just couldn't get it done. Finally rented it out. New people are loud as hell, always arguing, they have a dog they leave out all the time that's constantly barking.
Well, wife comes back from dropping the kids off at school today and there's a big black SUV parked next to the house (we live on a corner). She pulls in the drive, the SUV pulls in next to her. Fucking US Marshalls, asking about our new neighbor. Apparently, shit's about to go down. Lol

ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Twitter that Romo's plans come even as the Cowboys were set to release him. That would have freed him to negotiate a contract with another NFL team.

I didn't think your salutations were all that good today until I saw Scott's reply. Well done.

Taco Tuesday for lunch today! 8)

Lol
Let us know when the marksman sets up post in your bedroom...
Get the video going I want to see the bullet hit, oops it is the government so will probably miss.
Been too many years since Waco for them, could be quite the show going down behind Golf's house.

A Washington state man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder after police said he shot and killed an intruder who was showering inside one of his residencies.
Bruce Fanning, 59, of Mason County, discovered a stranger showering in one of the two residencies that he owns Saturday at around 8 a.m., Mason County Sheriff’s Lt. Travis Adams said. Adams added that Fanning runs a business out of the second property.
Fanning told investigators that he first fled the scene, grabbed a gun and then returned where he opened fire on the intruder, court documents said. Fanning told police he thought the stranger was drunk and became afraid when the stranger made threats toward him.
Police said Fanning fired four shots through the shower curtain, killing the intruder, according to the New York Times. Fanning called authorities after the shooting.
The victim was identified as Nathaniel Joseph Rosa, 31, of Bothell. Rosa had worked at Woodmor Elementary School in Bothell and was described as a “compassionate educator,” according to Q13 Fox.
Police said there was no indication that Fanning was threatened by Rosa and that the facts did not support Fanning’s right to self-defense. According to Washington state law, “no person in the state shall be placed in legal jeopardy of any kind whatsoever for protecting by any reasonable means necessary, himself or herself, his or her family, or his or her real or personal property.”
Authorities were still trying to determine why Rosa inside the property.
Fanning’s bail was set at $250,000.

Howdy, Tex. All my friends were jumping on that S&W deal over the weekend. I was sorely tempted, but my next 9mm is going to be a Glock 19, and I have enough Cabela's points that it'd cost me the same cash outlay as the Shield. So I managed to resist temptation.

The Shields best price range 6 months ago was $379-399 so that is a great deal. One of the better feeling guns for its small size. I scream BS on Bean's suggestion of jamming being a wide spread issue, I have read a dozen or more professional reviews and not a single one indicated any significant issue regarding function, one did bring one up but found the damn thing had never been lubed and was dry as a bone. My son has fired a few hundred rounds through his and never a failure to cycle, only feeds it Speer Ammo. That said every maker has a bad one get out once in a while and as long as they take care of it then that is just real life. S&W actually has a pretty damn good warranty program.
I bought a brand new Colt .357 Python back in the late 70's and the damn thing had a .38 special cylinder in it. Colt was quite embarrassed but took care of it, just wish I had not gotten bored with it and sold the damn thing.

Yeah, I wasn't concerned about potential operating issues. But just couldn't see much real purpose to buying it beyond "it's a great deal." I know, I know...bizarre manifestation of rational behavior.
Everyone who ever owned a Python is kicking themselves for letting it go. I've lusted for one for a long time but since I turned 21 back in the 80's they have always seemed to cost more than I could or wanted to pay. They are beautiful guns, although I'll blaspheme and say that if I had to fight with a revolver I'd prefer a Smith. The Colt cylinder release spooks me.

People pay stupid amounts of $ for them these days, I have had a Python and multiple model 27's and now doubt prefer the 27's thus still own one.
I would have bought a Shield at that deal but it is a 9mm and that is just not really my thing, nor do I have any need for another carry gun ::).

Sure as hell did, was a girl.
FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The death of a 20-year-old college student who competed in a pancake-eating contest last week in Connecticut may have been the result of choking or a food allergy, among the many dangers associated with competitive eating.
Caitlin Nelson, a junior majoring in social work, died Sunday at a New York City hospital, three days after participating in the contest at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, The Associated Press reports.

Lol

we may think it's Tuesday, but NJ Transit thinks it's Saturday...
trains once an hour, except during late rush hour, when there isn't any....
My bartender picked me up at Newark Penn Station, last night, when the delayed 6:51 train,
which left after 8pm decided it was not going to stop in Secaucus. Train crew wanted
to rush to their relief crew, at Newark Penn Station. Next train heading back to Secaucus
was cancelled, and the following one just sat there. Got off the train & called Shadow.
He wouldn't take any Uber fees, but I bought him a couple of drinks. 8)

You don't have to worry about a lot of bullet holes unless the Marshalls have to bring in the FBI. The Marshalls serve warrants. If shooting starts, they call in the FBI and go for coffee until the FBI has killed or cuffed the suspect. ;-)
I always thought being a Marshall would be the kind of LEO career I'd choose, if I'd ever wanted to be a LEO.

Lol
Let us know when the marksman sets up post in your bedroom...
Get the video going I want to see the bullet hit, oops it is the government so will probably miss.
Been too many years since Waco for them, could be quite the show going down behind Golf's house.

Just made me think of the little pond that had previously been dried up on Johnny's property that he used to always talk about during the drought.

Didn't some college kid just die choking on pancakes during an eating contest? Crazy sumbitches need to learn how to chew!
Don't chew when you're trying to beat the clock or shove down a couple of pounds of food , just bite and swallow.

(RNN) - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo plans to leave football and go into broadcasting, according to a report Tuesday.
ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Twitter that Romo's plans come even as the Cowboys were set to release him. That would have freed him to negotiate a contract with another NFL team.

I read a fatal crash report today where the driver lived and passenger died, toxicology report said he was .21 blood alcohol, full of meth and some traces of marijuana
Driver said he was blinded by the sun and did not see the curve in the road causing him to go straight and hit an oncoming car head on.

I guarantee I'd rather discuss house plans with the warden than deal with work. So "pour" is the word.
And anything that punches Dr. Pepper up a notch or three is okay in my book.
