Now let's not get carried away. Afternoon Duke.
Ok...lets just leave it that he is a damn fine grill master....an opinion based on CF 2011....
Ah for some tailgating.  Talk is to make the tailgating the main event making CF just an excuse to get together.  Bailed out this year.
I may rejoin the fray this year....And it only cost me a few Louie Viton purses to get the wife's mind right.....lol....
How many opportunities does one have to have a fish, a bearb, a denali and a CB all stacked like cordwood in one motel room??

The two things Dean didn't mention are free medical (although some are now required to pay some), and retirement.
Paying retiree's basically the same as when they were working AND continuing their medical coverage  is about as good as you could hope for....and it's what's bankrupting states...
Yep, sounds like a lot of cities too and almost every fire & police agency.   South Carolina has a deal way better than that though.  They can retire one day then get rehired the next day at the same job for their same pay and collect retirement pay and current job pay both.  I got several friends doing it now.
I can't lie...I am more than a little envious of those who can double dip....fiscal responsibility not withstanding....
Damn right, me too!

Double dipping.  You'd almost have to be a fool not to take advantage of the system.  Not good for society as a whole though.
Would that be a win-win?  If you can be brought back as a contractor without the benefits that you keep as a retiree, already trained but still cheaper than what a fully loaded (with benefits)new hire would be?....food for thought.....
In SC they are not brought back as contractors, they are employees with full benefits and can retire again.

Off for the afternoon/evening at a friends, pool, hot tub, stocked beer fridge, fine dinner on the grill and cigars with whiskey afterwards.  @TexDave...now that is the way to enjoy a pool!

I may have to hang the dumb-assery label on the administrative / HR function of SC in that case.....

It hangs solely on the necks of the corrupt legislature.  It was supposed to be for school teachers to try and retain the older ones that knew WTF they were doing but the corrupt legislature slipped in language so it applied to every state employee.

I may rejoin the fray this year....And it only cost me a few Louie Viton purses to get the wife's mind right.....lol....
One of the reasons I did not go this year is the solo drive in terms of time and of money.  As to the purses, as long as you don't have to carry one for her, not a bad trade off.
