The two things Dean didn't mention are free medical (although some are now required to pay some), and retirement.
Paying retiree's basically the same as when they were working AND continuing their medical coverage  is about as good as you could hope for....and it's what's bankrupting states...

His search continued until he finally reached a brothel where the Madame said,
"Why yes, this is a union house."

"And if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?" he questioned.

"The girls get $80 and the house gets $20."

"That's more like it!" the man said. He looked around the room and pointed to a
stunningly attractive redhead. "I'd like her for the night."

"I'm sure you would, sir", said the Madame while gesturing to a grotesque woman
in her seventies in the corner, "but Ethel here has seniority."

typical NY State employee:

22.75 days vac per year
13 sick leave per year
13 holidays per year
5 personal days per year

43 days benefits
104 weekends

147 days off

365 days per year
147 days off
218 days of work÷365=

57.7% of the year working.
Was this post supposed to make any Fuk'n sense to anybody?
Idk, it did to me. govt workers nake a good living hardly working.
You should know you worked for the State of NY so why did you retire if it was so good?

So WTF does that have to do with a brothel?

Yep, sounds like a lot of cities too and almost every fire & police agency.   South Carolina has a deal way better than that though.  They can retire one day then get rehired the next day at the same job for their same pay and collect retirement pay and current job pay both.  I got several friends doing it now.

Double dipping.  You'd almost have to be a fool not to take advantage of the system.  Not good for society as a whole though.

I can't lie...I am more than a little envious of those who can double dip....fiscal responsibility not withstanding....

Ah for some tailgating.  Talk is to make the tailgating the main event making CF just an excuse to get together.  Bailed out this year.

Would that be a win-win?  If you can be brought back as a contractor without the benefits that you keep as a retiree, already trained but still cheaper than what a fully loaded (with benefits)new hire would be?....food for thought.....
