Today is Wednesday, Nov. 23, the 328th day of 2016. There are 38 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Nov. 23, 1936, Life, the photojournalism magazine created by Henry R. Luce (loos), was first published.

On this date:

In 1765, Frederick County, Maryland, became the first colonial American entity to repudiate the British Stamp Act.

In 1804, the 14th president of the United States, Franklin Pierce (puhrs), was born in Hillsboro, New Hampshire.

In 1889, the first jukebox made its debut in San Francisco, at the Palais Royale Saloon. (The coin-operated device consisted of four listening tubes attached to an Edison phonograph.)

In 1903, Enrico Caruso made his American debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, appearing in "Rigoletto."

In 1910, American-born physician Hawley Harvey Crippen was hanged at Pentonville Prison in London for murdering his wife, Cora. (Crippen's mistress, Ethel Le Neve, was acquitted in a separate trial of being an accessory.)

In 1914, the seven-month U.S. military occupation of Veracruz, Mexico, ended.

In 1945, most U.S. wartime rationing of foods, including meat and butter, was set to expire by day's end.

In 1959, the musical "Fiorello!" starring Tom Bosley as legendary New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia, opened on Broadway.

In 1963, President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed Nov. 25 a day of national mourning following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

In 1971, the People's Republic of China was seated in the U.N. Security Council.

In 1980, some 2,600 people were killed by a series of earthquakes that devastated southern Italy.

In 1996, a commandeered Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 767 crashed into the water off the Comoros Islands, killing 125 of the 175 people on board, including all three hijackers.

Ten years ago: Car bombs and mortar rounds struck a Shiite slum in Baghdad, killing 215 people. Former KGB spy Alexander Litvinenko (leet-vee-NYEN'-koh) died in London from radiation poisoning after making a deathbed statement blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin. Death claimed Broadway librettist Betty Comden at age 89; jazz vocalist Anita O'Day at age 87; and French actor Philippe Noiret at age 76.

Five years ago: Yemen's authoritarian President Ali Abdullah Saleh (AH'-lee ahb-DUH'-luh sah-LEH') agreed to step down amid a fierce uprising to oust him after 33 years in power.

One year ago: The White House urged its allies to step up their contributions to the campaign against the Islamic State, as President Barack Obama faced pressure to show the U.S.-led coalition would intensify efforts even without a major shift in strategy. Blue Origin, a private space company, landed a rocket called New Shepard upright and gently enough to be used again, a milestone in commercial aeronautics. Cynthia Robinson, 71, a trumpeter and vocalist who was a key member of Sly and the Family Stone, died in Carmichael, California.

Thought for Today: "I'm a realist and so I think regretting is a useless occupation. You help no one with it. But you can't live without illusions even if you must fight for them, such as 'love conquers all.' It isn't true, but I would like it to be." - Marlene Dietrich, German-born actress (1901-1992).

Just lookin' to put it on cruise control today. Hopefully get to make an unnoticed early exit. Traffic was extra light this morning, so I already had a good start. I expect it to be a little more frantic later with the expected folks heading out of town. Gas is down to $2 a gallon here, so I'm sure many will be travelling the highways today.

That's the issue with most of those older entertainment centers. They were just not designed for the widescreen format. Had to do the same for the one I had.

And the used furniture consignment places will not even take them.  I put mine on the patio for pool towel storage, etc.... and put the TV on top of it.  Will put it in the dumpster when we do the final cleanout.

Yikes. No building here, but the Mrs is constantly checking the real estate listings for something new. I keep telling her that the bigger the house, the more crap we'll accumulate. Try cleaning sometime and see how much space we already have. As you might imagine, that goes over like a pube in bowl of Cheerios.

Morning boys.  At work but have to head out later to meet with another home builder with the warden.  Not quite sure how I'm still going to be married at the end of this process.   ::)
Yikes. No building here, but the Mrs is constantly checking the real estate listings for something new. I keep telling her that the bigger the house, the more crap we'll accumulate. Try cleaning sometime and see how much space we already have.
Hey, if you're not gonna lay the pipe to her, at least let the woman dream about bigger housing. ;)

"Final Clearance" of MC 2's at Holts if anyone still needs any.  $65 with FS for Lanceros (20) and $120 FS for Papi Chulo's (50).

Seems like we might have bought those cheaper along the way though.

Just smoked another one yesterday. Still have 90% of the box. Great little stick. Preferred it over the Mi Querida I had afterwards. The latter had nice flavors but was a bit too much of a powerhouse for me.

why she called me first and not the FD is beyond me. her husband is a lazy assed dumb fuck and wants nothing to do with anything other than hobble to his bike and ride, preying on sympathy because he has a walker and cane the doctor told him to quit using months ago.

This should be pleasant for thousands of United Airlines turkey trotters:

Flights grounded at Houston George Bush Intercontinental due to storms
Glad I'm not travelin'.
Bean's future flights into Bush are in danger of being grounded if he doesn't watch it
Speaking of such, dishwasher project go smoothly, warden happy?
More importantly, how did the 45 seconds of hell go?
Very satisfied on both

Bean was going to be back in 45 minutes, guess that did not work out so well for him.

You'd have to start a spreadsheet so you could remember which cubby you put what smoke in.

Found something to use my $10 CI Gift Card Code on, La Herencia Cubana Core's jamming now at the usual 10/$37.50 and I don't have many of those at all.
Enjoy the chisel's (or dagger) version of them.

Or maybe you were too big a pussy for it. ???

MC 2's are really good and best of the 3 IMFO.
Probably true, but it was after a big meal and I was still feeling it. I preferred the Sobremesa.
Have you tried the Mi Querida yet?  I think it's even better than the Sobremesa.

Well that is a lot of info in a concise space, hope the trailer did not burn down.

Morning Dean, lot of cigars there.

Let's just say it was a long afternoon, though I did work in a VSG on the patio while discussing the kitchen layout for the 1000'th time.  Guess that's how she figured to corner me.

Still waiting for something to add for FS, though have hardly been attentive throughout the day.  These are a nice smoke, but not a CCB approved deal.
