NOAA blew it again - as of this time yesterday only a disorganized system with development not expected.
Tropical Storm JULIA
This system produced locally heavy rainfall and wind gusts between 45 and 55 mph near the northeastern coast of Florida during Tuesday evening. The strongest wind gusts from Julia will shift to the coastal areas of Georgia and South Carolina through Wednesday.
"Winds of this strength could bring down small trees and produce sporadic power outages.
The strong winds will produce rough seas, minor coastal flooding and beach erosion from north of Jacksonville to Charleston, South Carolina, into Thursday.
Heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding from portions of Florida to South Carolina. Areas at greatest risk for flash flooding will be those hit hard by Hurricane Hermine during early September.
"The heaviest rainfall is expected between an area just north of Jacksonville, Florida, to near Charleston, South Carolina.

Don't know too much about the Red Head, Lady Friend was previously the Biker Lady, they decided a couple of months ago there was no more relationship so now he just treats her like all the other deadbeats- free work .......... Who knows about any fringe benefits you will have to ask DAWG about that I guess.

Come now, it's pretty simple. Lady is the one with the new house and screened in patio. Redhead is the one with the nice boat. Both are getting the dawg treatment. Admittedly there are sub-chapters, addenda, and footnotes, but that's the Cliff Notes version.

pouring rain out. no golf today.
for clarification: the lady was the biker lady but she's no biker. we are just friends with benefits, lots of benefits. no commitments. I still spend a lot of time with her getting her new house the way she'd like it. the redhead is an independently wealthy lady that likes to spend time with me when she wants, usually involving a few days to take her boat out for extended excusions.

Today is Wednesday, Sept. 14, the 258th day of 2016. There are 108 days left in the year.
Today's Highlight in History:
On Sept. 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the poem "Defence of Fort McHenry" after witnessing the American flag flying over the Maryland fort following a night of British bombardment during the War of 1812; the poem later became the words to "The Star-Spangled Banner."
On this date:
In 1715, Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Perignon, credited with advances in the production of champagne, died in Hautvillers, France, at age 76.
In 1829, the Treaty of Adrianople was signed, ending war between Russia and the Ottoman Empire.
In 1861, the first naval engagement of the Civil War took place as the USS Colorado attacked and sank the Confederate private schooner Judah off Pensacola, Florida.
In 1901, President William McKinley died in Buffalo, New York, of gunshot wounds inflicted by an assassin; Vice President Theodore Roosevelt succeeded him.
In 1927, modern dance pioneer Isadora Duncan died in Nice (nees), France, when her scarf became entangled in a wheel of the sports car she was riding in.
In 1941, Vermont passed a resolution enabling its servicemen to receive wartime bonuses by declaring the U.S. to be in a state of armed conflict, giving rise to headlines that Vermont had "declared war on Germany."
In 1954, the Soviet Union detonated a 40-kiloton atomic test weapon.
In 1964, Pope Paul VI opened the third session of the Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican, also known as "Vatican II." (The session closed two months later.)
In 1975, Pope Paul VI declared Mother Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton the first U.S.-born saint.
In 1982, Princess Grace of Monaco, formerly actress Grace Kelly, died at age 52 of injuries from a car crash the day before; Lebanon's president-elect, Bashir Gemayel (bah-SHEER' jeh-MAY'-el), was killed by a bomb.
In 1986, President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy, appeared together on radio and television to appeal for a "national crusade" against drug abuse.
In 1991, the government of South Africa, the African National Congress and the Inkatha (in-KAH'-tah) Freedom Party signed a national peace pact.
Ten years ago: Authorities advised people to avoid eating bagged fresh spinach, the suspected (later confirmed) source of an outbreak of E. coli illnesses that killed three people. Three men became the first rabbis ordained in Germany since World War II during a ceremony in Dresden. Actor-bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay, husband of actress Jayne Mansfield and father of actress Mariska Hargitay, died in Los Angeles at age 80.
Five years ago: President Barack Obama urged enthusiastic college students at North Carolina State University to join him in his fight to get Congress to act on his new jobs bill. A government panel released a report saying that BP bore ultimate responsibility for the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history.
One year ago: Ahmed Mohamed, a 14-year-old Muslim boy, was arrested after bringing a homemade clock to MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas, that was mistaken for a possible bomb; police declined to seek any charges against the teenager. Rowan County, Kentucky, clerk Kim Davis returned to work for the first time since she was jailed for defying a federal court and announced that she would no longer block her deputies from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump renewed his campaign against illegal immigration, telling a cheering crowd of thousands at the American Airlines Center in Dallas that "it's disgusting what's happening to our country." At least a dozen people were killed in flash floods that struck in Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Arizona, along with seven hikers who drowned in a narrow canyon in Zion National Park and a man from Hurricane, Utah. Fred Deluca, 67, the Subway co-founder who turned a sandwich shop he started as a teenager into the world's largest fast-food chain, died in New York.

Travelled around a bit for sure. Started out as "Blended by Don Pepin Garcia, La Sirena is the first full-bodied creation to come out of Miami Cigar’s partnership with My Father Cigars." When the partnership went separate ways, production was moved to La Zona. Not sure how Miranda was involved, but his name is associated with it as well. Maybe call it a Dean cigar for a convoluted as the relationship is...

Mermaids started out as an internet only brand, and were not discussed as part of La Sirena as they officially are now. Weren't very good then, don't expect much out of them now.

The only "real" La Sirena blends are the Merlion and Oceano. Both are pricy and neither measure up to the original IMHO.

Last year I picked up a box of those from the devil, but they were the simple brown box, not the fancy treasure chest looking box. They have good flavors, but I think every one burned f'ked up. Maybe smoked 5 and put the others to bed. Hopefully they will improve, but don't expect much. Either way I only gave $55... so, lesson learned.

The odd thing is that, in their history on the website they never mention production at La Zona, which I would consider to be a positive for the product if it were made there. They went from My Father to Miranda which is maybe not so good, that's where the Mermaids were produced, I believe. That said their latest cigar (Porthole) was very good, a gift from Tony awhile back

Air Bender is on the milder side of LFD's but don't confuse that with being a mild cigar.

None of that chit at my place - YET! I don't think we even have any gay or transgender S in our office right now but we have had quite a few lezbo's before and I think only one obvious fruit-loop.

He will appeal and get some money out of the dumbasses.
With the plethora of "training" you get every year I expected by now you had your LGTB indoctrination. Got any transgender restroom signs yet?
None of that chit at my place - YET! I don't think we even have any gay or transgender S in our office right now but we have had quite a few lezbo's before and I think only one obvious fruit-loop.
Are those official terms used in your training? ....lol

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Round Rock police are investigating an attempted kidnapping of a child on his way to school Tuesday morning.
The child was riding his bike when he was approached by several men in a truck on Grove Drive around 7:52 a.m. The men told the student to get into their truck.
That's not far from the shop. But something smells fishy about this story. We'll see.
Ya think Fish has been hanging out in RR? :o
I was just trying to get to the school :o

BTW, an interesting note to the La Sirena conversation from last week. I have a box of the original robustos (The Prince) at home and the factory stamp on the bottom is La Zona
Wonder if that bodes well or not for the Mermaids or not, which are still available in the clearance section, now.
The odd thing is that, in their history on the website they never mention production at La Zona, which I would consider to be a positive for the product if it were made there. They went from My Father to Miranda which is maybe not so good, that's where the Mermaids were produced, I believe. That said their latest cigar (Porthole) was very good, a gift from Tony awhile back
Haven't been able to find more of those.

Some general info:
The Porthole was an exclusive project, for B&M stores only, small production of 800 boxes in a Connecticut wrapper and Oscuro wrapper. Made out of Erik Espinosa’s La Zona factory, where the original La Sirena was produced.
Note: Connecticut is the Toro, the other two vitolas are Habano Oscuro.
Still available at Pipes and Cigars http://www.pipesandcigars.com/cigars/95780/porthole-by-la-sirena/

In one blunt 2014 email with Democratic donor Jeffrey Leeds, Powell had this to say of Clinton:
"I would rather not have to vote for her, although she is a friend I respect. A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not [sic] transformational, with a husband still dicking bimbos at home (according to the NYP)."

Former secretary of State and retired four-star general Colin Powell called Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump "a national disgrace" and "international pariah," and said "Hillary's mafia" was trying to drag him into Clinton's email scandal in personal emails that were leaked by hackers, according to online news organizations BuzzFeed and The Daily Caller.
Powell made the remarks about Trump in a June 17, 2016, email to Emily Miller, a journalist who once worked under Powell as a deputy press secretary at the State Department. In the email Powell said Trump, "is in the process of destroying himself, no need for the Dems to attack him," according to BuzzFeed. "Paul Ryan is calibrating his position again," Powell said of the speaker of the House who had only recently decided to endorse Trump at the time of the email.
"In an Aug. 21 email, Powell told Miller, "the whole birther movement was racist," according to BuzzFeed. "That's what the 99% believe. When Trump couldn't keep that up he said he also wanted to see if the certificate noted that he was a Muslim."
So he's pretty much right on all accounts.

It wasn't anything spectacular but I would definitely revisit. It had leathery notes and a very short finish. Construction was very good. Apparently this Don Benigno is extremely well known in Costa Rica. I'd be curious to try the maduro of the same stick.

Think you're right.
Try anything new at Ballast Point yesterday?
Yeah, but most were R&D unreleased. Started with an R&D Schwarz bier, then Ginger Big Eye, Cinnamon commodore and a disappointing cofree Sculpin.
I had the Pineapple Sculpin and the Orange vanilla fathom last weekend... Preferred the fathom. Overall, I think I still favor the grapefruit or the standard sculpin the best of the IPA's. fru-fru, blah-blah. :P
Did you take a look at the Ballast Point link I posted earlier....pineapple, grapefruit, melon, mango, watermelon.

Time to shut down here and head over to meet up with Mr. JWacky, and possibly Mr. Dan. Enjoy the company of some BOTLs, have a few cigars and malt beverages at Churchills.
Maybe a nice walk on the beach later.

I just heard about this stick for the first time yesterday. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

What are you saying? I was hoping to pull together an NJ Herf on the 28th but not sure I can make it yet. Which is why I didn't advertise it. Will you be in town?
