It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

United Airlines Flights Resume Out of Newark Airport After Power Outage Causes Delays: FAA

United Airlines flights were resuming as scheduled at Newark Airport after a power outage at the airline's control tower there severely backed up outgoing flights, officials say.

The FAA says that some sort of equipment problem or outage caused delays of over two hours at Newark Airport Monday evening. Six United Express flights were also canceled, according to the airline.

The Port Authority says the United Airlines control tower at Terminal C experienced a power outage shortly after 5 p.m. Power was restored about 45 minutes later, but it went out again shortly afterward.
Power was again restored shortly after 7 p.m., and has since been running, and flights have resumed, the Port Authority says. There were no residual delays, according to United.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The NCAA has pulled seven championship events from North Carolina, including opening-weekend men’s basketball tournament games, for the coming year due to a state law that some say can lead to discrimination against LGBT people.

In a news release Monday, the NCAA says the decision by its board of governors came “because of the cumulative actions taken by the state concerning civil rights protections.”

Better have it straightened out by Friday.

Today is Tuesday, Sept. 13, the 257th day of 2016. There are 109 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Sept. 13, 1971, a four-day inmates' rebellion at the Attica Correctional Facility in western New York ended as police and guards stormed the prison; the ordeal and final assault claimed the lives of 32 inmates and 11 hostages.

On this date:

In 1515, during the Italian Wars, the two-day Battle of Marignano began as forces led by Francis I of France clashed with troops from the Old Swiss Confederacy. (The French succeeded in forcing the Swiss to abandon nearby Milan.)

In 1788, the Congress of the Confederation authorized the first national election, and declared New York City the temporary national capital.

In 1814, during the War of 1812, British naval forces began bombarding Fort McHenry in Baltimore but were driven back by American defenders in a battle that lasted until the following morning.

In 1911, the song "Oh, You Beautiful Doll," a romantic rag by Nat D. Ayer and Seymour Brown, was first published by Jerome H. Remick & Co.

In 1923, Miguel Primo de Rivera, the captain general of Catalonia, seized power in Spain.

In 1948, Republican Margaret Chase Smith of Maine was elected to the U.S. Senate; she became the first woman to serve in both houses of Congress.

In 1959, Elvis Presley first met his future wife, 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu, while stationed in West Germany with the U.S. Army. (They married in 1967, but divorced in 1973.)

In 1962, Mississippi Gov. Ross Barnett rejected the U.S. Supreme Court's order for the University of Mississippi to admit James Meredith, a black student, declaring in a televised address, "We will not drink from the cup of genocide."

In 1989, Fay Vincent was elected commissioner of Major League Baseball, succeeding the late A. Bartlett Giamatti (juh-MAH'-tee).

In 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur died at a Las Vegas hospital six days after he was wounded in a drive-by shooting; he was 25.

In 1997, funeral services were held in Calcutta (now Kolkata), India, for Nobel peace laureate Mother Teresa.

In 1998, former Alabama Gov. George C. Wallace died in Montgomery at age 79.

Ten years ago: Gunman Kimveer Gill, 25, opened fire in a cafeteria at Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, slaying one student and wounding 19 before killing himself. Former Texas Gov. Ann Richards died in Austin at age 73.

Five years ago: Teams of insurgents firing rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons struck at the U.S. Embassy, NATO headquarters and other buildings in the heart of Afghanistan's capital, Kabul. In New York City, Republican political novice Bob Turner scored an upset victory over Democratic state Assemblyman David Weprin in a special election to fill the House seat vacated by Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner over a sexting scandal.

One year ago: Germany introduced temporary border controls to stem the tide of thousands of refugees streaming across its borders. Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich) defeated Roger Federer in four sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, in the U.S. Open final for his 10th Grand Slam title. Basketball Hall of Famer Moses Malone, 60, died in Norfolk, Virginia. Miss Georgia Betty Cantrell was crowned Miss America at the pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

I'm starving. I hate working from home. No cafeteria here. Gotta make the GD coffee myself. WTF?
K cups.  Just sayin'…

Good morning, Mikey.

Ask your lovely bride to make you some breakfast
It's not worth the effort. I'd have to show her where the kitchen is. May as well just do it myself.
Plus you would need some gonads to ask anyway
Doesn't take gonads. Takes the will to carry on a conversation and I don't have that.

By the way, is that the hair drier I hear in the background?
No that is the leaf blower outsidei

Now have to go search out B&M's in the Georgetown area.  Know of a couple in Pawleys Island, but lets see....

Bourbon and Burnz looks promising....in Litchfield

Suck, Bang, Blow in Murrells Inlet

Seem to be only two actually in town....

The Humidor on Front Street , can't tell if it has a lounge
Tobacco Market on South Fraser St.  but no info on this available.

Need to evaluated these things when looking to move somewhere.

you need to stand behind the readhead and lady, Tony.....
I don't recall TxDave getting this invitation.
And after a nice dinner and gifts.....sheesh
just wait until November when he comes to pick up his boat.
I'm still confused as to which boat he's picking up from which trip.
as far as I know he bought a boat done here in Florida.
So he will have a wood custom cruiser and a fiberglass fishing boat?
no. just the fiberglass fishing boat.
Dean is correct and California Dave is confused.
And this is where it might live, historic Downtown Georgetown
other than all those stairs to climb and the closeness of neighbors it looks like a nice place.
You know  TexDave....a social butterfly, always has to have folks around him!
Being NC at least he won't have to worry about a rainbow flag sprouting from the porch next to him.

But this is SC.....don't forget they retired the Confederate Flag this year, and the closer he gets to Charleston, the more like Austin it will feel.

I am actually standing across the street from one but since I got more cigars than they have not much to see.  And since I go in a B&M about 2-3 times a year it is definitely not a high priority for me.  Having lunch with the mayor here later this week.  He loves he's fishing.

met inspector at gate and we introduced ourselves. he never looked over the outside other than walking into the screen room. he looked briefly inside, said it looked good, I asked if he needed to sign the permit, he did. as I walked him back to the gate I said it was a shame he had to drive over an hour to get here for 2 minutes of work, and he was gone. he asked no questions and I had no chance to complain about the permit process.
That would be like complaining to the cop about the traffic laws when you are pulled over.  But glad THAT's over with.  Should be relatively easy to get the gazebo permit now.
swimming pool and deck next for midnight swims.

Just what I need Page....a camo grill set.
this way you can sneak up on thos burgers, before you flip them.
Yeah, really had a problem with the wild game running away at the site of my stainless
steel tools with the black rubber grips.  The smell and heat from the grill, plus the smell of
grilled animal, spooks them something fierce.  8)

But in today's narcissistic world, who cares about the people behind you? So what if it takes you 8 hours to play a round? After all, you're retired.

well, the way I look at it, the screen room passed inspection, and the ceiling fan is part of the screen room. I can just add it to the Field Change section of the permit, now that it's signed.🤔
