Half-Wit
-------------------------

A man owned a small ranch in Montana. The Montana Work Force Department claimed he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to interview him.

"I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them," demanded the agent.

"Well," replied the farmer, "there's my farm hand who's been with me for 3 years.. I pay him $200 a week plus free room and board.

"The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $150 per week plus free room and board.

"Then there's the half-wit. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally."

"That's the guy I want to talk to ... the half-wit," says the agent.

"That would be me," replied the Rancher

Yeah, and you rarely see them on much of a special of any kind.  That is one of the big pluses for the Page, they have so many specials on things never on special.  Just hope they keep that up after the new wears off.

TxDave's been vying for that title lately as well, though I think his purchase volume might disqualify him. One must shop but not actually purchase because it's still too expensive.

Burn It Down Again?

BALTIMORE (Reuters) - City officials and schools in Baltimore, a city hit by rioting earlier this year, braced for the possibility of more violent protests as a jury on Tuesday deliberated the case of a police officer charged in the death of a black detainee.

Officer William Porter, 26, is on trial for manslaughter and other charges in Freddie Gray's death from a broken neck suffered in the back of a police van. Gray's death in April triggered protests and rioting and intensified a U.S. debate on police treatment of minorities.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said she was opening an emergency operations center and pleaded for calm.

Police have canceled all leave in light of the imminent jury decision.

"Whether you agree or whether you disagree with the jury's ultimate verdict, our reaction has to be one of respect in Baltimore's neighborhoods," she said.

Was he dealing drugs, robbing a store, did he try to take the officers weapon?  Were the cops, shooting at someone else, and was the kid just in the wrong place at the wrong time?  Most 8 year old children, tend not to be such a threat to a policeman.  Have these officers been in trouble before, with excessive use of force on young children, is there a pattern here? ::)

SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - A Texas plumber whose company pickup truck with logo and name clearly visible appeared in a photograph of a militant wielding an anti-aircraft weapon in Syria has sued the dealer he sold it to, saying the harassment it generated has damaged his business.

Mark Oberholtzer, the owner of Mark-1 Plumbing of Texas City, said he sold the pickup in October 2013 and was shocked to see the photo on social media.

Mark Oberholtzer said in a lawsuit seeking $1 million damages that he has been forced to carry a gun for protection and was grilled by investigators from the Department of Homeland security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The photo was tweeted in December 2014 by a group called the Ansar al-Deen front and describes the truck as being used against the Syrian government in Aleppo, the lawsuit said. The precise affiliation of the participants at the time of the photo was unclear.

"By the end of the day, Mark-1's office, Mark-1's business phone, and Mark's personal cell had received over 1,000 phone calls from around the nation," said the lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in Harris County State District Court in Houston.

The lawsuit said the largely harassing calls contained threats of violence, property damage, injury and even death. Some callers sang in Arabic and others yelled obscenities at whoever answered the telephone, it said.

The lawsuit said the plumbing company had sold up to 10 pickup trucks to different dealers in Texas with the common practice of removing decals or decorative stickers before their sale.

Oberholtzer's lawsuit said he sold the pickup to Charlie Thomas Ford, which does business as AutoNation Ford Gulf Freeway in Houston. Dealer representatives told him they would take the stickers off because they had a better system for removing them without damaging the paint, it said.

Instead, the pickup was sold with decals and all and shipped to Turkey where it was obtained by militants, the lawsuit said.

A representative from the dealership did not immediately respond to inquiries about the suit on Monday. A spokesman for the parent company AutoNation responded on Monday.

"We feel it is very unfortunate that the customer is going through this," the AutoNation spokesman said. "This vehicle came to us, and was sent to the auction and the markings should have come off at the auction. That did not happen. We feel this is unfortunate."

The fact of the matter is that the Police are a martial organ of the state.  The only real shift here is that the opacity of the Blue Line has eroded, and people are forced to confront the fact that their notion of the Heroic Cop was mostly myth and propaganda - as much so as the idea of the Heroic American GI.  For every heroic cop or soldier, there are at least as many, maybe more, cowboys or monsters dressed in blue or green.  And in between the two spectrums are a lot of guys just getting through the day and trying to make it to the pension.

Not that I'm anti-cop, quite the opposite.  One of my closest friends is president of the Seattle Police Guild, and we have discussed this on a number of occasions.  The police, by definition, are an arm of the state and therefore a potential threat to liberty.  The automatic assumption that cops are the "good guys" is as dangerous as the assumption that the guy in the handcuffs is a "bad guy."

On both sides of the political spectrum, people refuse to confront the reality that life simply isn't as civilized as we want to believe it is, and it simply cannot be made so.  The poor we will always have with us...and the criminal, and the terrorist, and the bad cop, and the troubled soldier, and the mass killer, and the corrupt politician, and the tyrant...and the fool.

Sorry, I'll quit preaching.

Morning, muchachos.

good morning all.
What's so damn good about it?!?  GFY!  (Hi, Sam.  Just trying to stir the Tuesday pot)
That's exactly what I asked the warden when she wished me a good morning...she answered that I was able to talk to her, so it had to be a good morning.  since I have to live there, had to agree...since I don't live here, GFY!!  >:(       LOL, pot stirred!
If a tree falls in the woods...
I had a GREAT morning, and what little of the afternoon has been VERY REWARDING.
Is TWSS?
she's speechless.
She can't find the words to express her disappointment?
She's restrained with a ball gag in her mouth?
this is dean, not Bad Dad!

I have a 1978 FJ40 Land Cruiser for transportation when I retire.  Had the body restored 12 years ago but needs mechanical restoration.

Pre-train part of the commute. Unfortunately the cigar was a little too aged. It had a fragile Connecticut wrapper and a poor draw.  It smoked too quickly too; 7" salomon in less than 75 minutes.  All I got was cedar.  It proves that not all sticks age well.
