Holy crap, is it cold out there. And we'll be hard pressed to find any warm cigar deals on the various internet sites to help us get through it.  Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something about cigars along the way.  Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour a dirty martini and welcome aboard!

Today's Highlight in History:

On Jan. 8, 1815, the last major engagement of the War of 1812 came to an end as U.S. forces led by Maj. Gen. Andrew Jackson defeated the British in the Battle of New Orleans. (Given the slowness of communications at the time, the battle took place even though the United States and Britain had already signed a peace treaty.)

One year ago: Emails and text messages obtained by The Associated Press and other news organizations suggested that one of New Jersey Gov. Books
-------------------------

I'm reading an incredibly interesting book about antigravity.
"I just can't put it down."

I am reading a book on the paranormal, I didn't buy it it just appeared....

I just *know* someone is going to post about the psychic's book...

I was going to buy "The power of Positive Thought", but what's the point..

I heard about a great book concerning how to deal with apathy but I
couldn't be bothered to go to the store and buy it.

I tried reading a book about natural fertilizers for your garden
but it was full of crap.

I was going to buy a book on curing procrastination but I put of until
tomorrow....or maybe the day after.

I tried to read a book on curing insomnia, but I kept falling asleep.

Turns out I picked a great day to travel by car to our NJ office.  Just got this text, "Subject:NJ Transit Alerts
NJT trains may experience intermittent system wide cancellations and delays, due to weather related issue."  Received another stating that my usual train was CANCELLED today.  How is it that the Russians get trains in and out of Siberia without a problem but  NJT can't get you into the city because it's cold?

makes no sense, businesses depend on public transportation, but when the weather is too bad that the public transportation cannot/will not run, the businesses demand the public transport themselves. governmental thinking at one of it's finest moments.

My neighbor behind me as two German Shepherds. They bark allot, but if they are barking it's usually at squirrels, other dogs and cats, and people.  I sort of appreciate it, since they keep an eye on my backyard.  If they raise too much noise, I normally check to see what's up. Normally it's a squirrel. :)

Door #3 at the sis is a good buy and a great corona.  Just sayin'.
Mmmm, Diesel Corona's..  I've thought about those.  But I ended up getting a 10 pack awhile back of the Unholy Cocktails for about the same price.  Last year everyone seemed to have liked the Unholy Cocktails, that's why I bought some.  But this year everyone seems to be turning up their nose to them, and going  for other Diesels such as the Hair of the dog I think..?  I guess I need to get a Diesel sampler so I can figure it out... :)

The Diesel samplers are priced pretty well on CBid - good idea to try the 5 or 6 new blends they have put out the last 2 years.

I haven't had any of the new ones.  My rule of thumb is smoke the cocktails ROTT(fresh) as I think they get bland when they age and rest the Unlimiteds or smoke them ROTT(fresh) - they are great either way, but they get really smooth with a couple years down on them.

Well, you can try this:  http://www.cigarsinternational.com/samplers/72014/diesel-introductory-sampler-2/#p-125788 or this:  http://www.cigarsinternational.com/samplers/76238/diesel-sampler-6-pack-gift-set/#p-136502  or wait on the full sampler that only seems to be available on Jams and on the Devil.  Believe it's called the Underground Sampler.

Hair of the Dog is the tamest of the group, but with nice flavor.  Wicked and Delerium are way overpriced IMHO.

+1 on the recaps.  It's not warm enough here for a smoke but that's what I enjoy about driving to work.  Charlie gave this to me about 10 years ago and he probably had it for 10 years before that in his cabinet.  This is one of those cigar boom cigars from the 90s...  Probably older than Shaun.  It wasn't great but it served its purpose.  Lots of cedar.

no wonder Bluecollar Rick doesn't post anymore, he's buried:

In western New York, where the Buffalo area got slammed with more than 7 feet (2.13 meters) of snow in an historic November storm, 12 inches (30.5 centimeters) fell on Tuesday. Thursday night and Friday could bring up to 10 inches (25.4 centimeters) more, weather forecasters say.

Morning, Tony.  Little chilly at the moment but it's supposed to be mid 70s today.
Good morning Joe

Hey there, Scott.  Been on a whiskey kick lately but I've really started to like the Green Flash Double Stout, if it's something you have by you.  Tastes like a chocolate or coffee flavor stout but isn't.
Beer is a little less enjoyable when it starts to freeze in the bottle while you're drinking it.
Same problem here.  Beer fridge in garage keeps beer warmer than the outside temp...

I know I'll regret asking but what's the temp there today?  Good morning, Joe.

Ha! Very true, not to mention I'm trying to shed a few pounds before this procedure so beer is an enemy at the moment, have to stick to spirits  :D

I'm definitely having another dirty martini tonight.  I slept great last night.  Even considering buying some vermouth to make it legit.

Could stand to use a few holiday season pounds myself but I do find myself preferring spirits in the winter.  Still cold out here, relatively speaking.

I haven't developed a a palate for single malt scotch yet.  I like a lot of the stuff finished in port of sherry casks, as the finish seems much better than when done with bourbon.  Balvenie Double Wood is tasty... Just hard to get past the price of the better stuff.  If anything I've become a bit more interested in rum, since the flavor profile of the older ones is a bit more like bourbon.

Don't start JWacky....we've already sent you down enough roads of obsession.  Beer whiskey (much of it) and cigars  are all more reasonable that that slippery, smokey. peaty scotch road.

Ha, very true... easier to just stay away.  Got enough at home to not need to look for anything else to drink.  And the scotches I like most from various tastings I've gone too are WAY too expensive to be every day drinkers.  My main problem is that one drink usually turns to three... can't be downing the pricey stuff.

She would remove my hand from her ass while we were making out and I'd put it right back... 10 minutes later she'd realize my hand was on her ass again and remove it.  She didn't want me to think she was easy.

Sadly, I never found out.  Sadder, even with the horrible alcohol breath, that little bit of tit and ass grab was all I needed to get off.  It still is.
Very sorry to hear that...

LMFAO!  I'm gonna put the o/u at 10.
Solid line, that's >2 per week. Hmmm
Needs more tuna and motorboating IMO, GFY, etc, etc, etc

Dirty Martini reminds me of this girl I used to know...  Martini was really her last name.  I can't remember for the life of me what her first name was.
Sounds like you were close
I remember what her tits looked like.

They felt like bags of sand, I'm sure...
I was 16 and she was 18 and drunk off her ass.  I think her name was Pam.  She was a butter face but she had great tits.
Great but could she suck the color out of a marble? That's what we want to know...Sorry Pam, no offense, GFY!
Sadly, I never found out.  Sadder, even with the horrible alcohol breath, that little bit of tit and ass grab was all I needed to get off.  It still is.

Why?  It seems to be working for me.  And it leaves me more time to complain about not smoking cigars.
