Last time you looked, Tony, did you see a cross of ashes on your forehead?
I don't know, some of those priests seem to get pretty creative. I swear some of the ashes I saw today looked like swastikas. Most look like smudges. My forehead just looks dirty.
I rode over to the noon service today, but it was so packed I didn't even park. Who knew being reminded you're going to die could be so popular.
It's really pretty hilarious ... there are plenty of folks who don't go to Mass on Sunday (which is obligatory), but would never miss getting their Ashes on Ash Wednesday (not obligatory, totally voluntary). My parish had 5 Masses today to meet every time need (6:30am, 9am, Noon, 4:30pm, 7:30pm). Sheesh.
