The Lawn
-------------------------

A guy is trying to relax at home, but his wife keeps nagging him to mow the lawn. Finally, in between nags he blurts out, "Answer just this one question for me."

She pauses momentarily, and he takes this opportunity to say, "You know, a Deer, a Cow, and a Horse, all eat grass. But a Deer's excretions are pellets, while a Cow makes flat pies, and a Horse makes clumps...why is that?"

His wife says, "I don't know."

He replies, "Well then, how can you bring up the subject of the lawn, when it's obvious you don't know sh*t?"

Hurricane Joaquin is a major category 3 storm this morning.

At 500 AM EDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Joaquin was located near latitude 23.4 North, longitude 73.7 West. Joaquin is moving toward the west-southwest near 5 mph (7 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue today. A turn toward the west- northwest is forecast tonight, followed by a turn toward the north and an increase in forward speed on Friday. On the forecast track, the center of Joaquin will move near or over portions of the central Bahamas today and tonight and pass near or over portions of the northwestern Bahamas on Friday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 120 mph (195 km/h) with higher gusts. Joaquin is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some strengthening is forecast in the next day or so, with some fluctuations in intensity possible on Friday.

Most of the model guidance does forecast Joaquin to track towards the north, or possibly to the north northeast before making a left turn towards the mid-Atlantic coast this weekend somewhere between lower NC and NJ. There's still a slight possibility that Joaquin could move NE out into the open Atlantic as the EURO model (and now its ensembles) show a weakness in the central Atlantic which would allow the storm to miss the U.S. This is the least likely of the two scenarios as the EURO model has little to no support for a track out to sea. We will be watching that model closely to see if it shifts west with all the other models. It will likely take another 24-48 hours for the models to get a better handle on what the final track may be. Stay aware!

Stay aware!
Hopefully it will head out over open water, really glad he isn't headed into the Gulf.
Headed right towards us!
Looking that way.
Better stock up now guys before the panic buying gets to bad.

What a bunch of BULLSHIT!

United Airlines marked the five-year anniversary of its merger with Continental Airlines with an apology to customers who've dealt with the fallout from the rocky union.

"Simply put we haven't lived up to your expectations or to the promise and potential of that day" recently appointed president and CEO Oscar Munoz says in a full page advertisement in Thursday's Houston Chronicles and other major newspapers.

The chores do get old.  With the way home prices have appreciated in recent years in Austin, we've started thinking maybe an appt or condo setup sounds pretty good.  Just gotta be able to smoke a cigar on the balcony.

Ha. "Time Warner" and "Comcast" would have been that press release.  With the addition of "And we're sorry we had to raise our prices by 50%, but we're twice as big now, so it's really a discount, so GFY".

One difference would be TW and Comcast were horrible individually but Continental was the better of the airlines, bad but definitely the better of bad.

That pretty well sums it up.  After the merger, the airline definitely dumbed down to a United approach.  Some flight crews still identify themselves as Continental...and those are usually better flights.

Looks like Xikar wants to "unofficially" tap into the sports market by offering color combos for some of your favorite teams.  ;)

Without having to pay for official team colors or logos.  Morning all.

True, but thinking like a lawyer, it is more that coincidence that all of the color combinations provided are of NFL teams.  If they added a number of other color combinations, they could probably get away with it.

At 1100 AM EDT (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Joaquin was
located near latitude 23.0 North, longitude 73.9 West.  A turn
toward the northwest and north is expected on Friday, and a faster
motion toward the north is expected Friday night and Saturday.  On
the forecast track, the center of Joaquin will move near or over
portions of the central Bahamas today and tonight and pass near or
over portions of the northwestern Bahamas on Friday.

Reports from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate
that maximum sustained winds have increased to near 125 mph (205
km/h) with higher gusts.  Joaquin is a category 3 hurricane on the
Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.  Some additional strengthening
is possible during the next 24 hours, with some fluctuations in
intensity possible Friday night and Saturday.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the
center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles

You get resigned to having the thing on then you have to get accustomed to not having it there let alone the incision itself.  Can you drink heavily once it is removed?  Smoking yet?

Well I am used to worse than that so go for it :)

I am going to tell you though a 4" cut across the bottom of your skull is uncomfortable even though it is not all that painful.  You don't realize how much you move your head around and up-down.

Also read that a witness reported he walked into a classroom, asked people to state their religion, then opened fire.  LEO eventually dropped him, but long after he'd had his way with the sitting ducks in this particular gun free zone.
