short and interesting meeting with FEMA, State of Florida Highway Engineer, Levy County Manager, Inglis and Yankeetown Supers, Fire Chief, and Duke Energy official. my idea of Assessment Team apparently offended the locals with the way they've always done things. was called a POS NYer who ought to go back north, and a few other unkind words. I refused to get into a pissing match and calmly as I could explained my plan. apparently they cater to the 'rich' people first, and let the 'poor' wait. I did have Duke Energy, the FD, and the State on my side, but looks like I will ride a desk inputting updates and answering phones as needed.
So who has last say in this clusterf*ck?
Truth is, that is part of the problem - nobody knows so everybody thinks they are. They contract some of us out to FEMA and loan us to the State DOT's for hurricanes and I have done plenty of them, it is a giant clusterfuck Brownie! I refuse to do it anymore after the Rita fiasco.
the local State Residencies and Duke Energy use assessment teams. the Township officials, commissioners, supers, claim autonomy, that they know what's best for their 'peoples'. it will be very interesting tomorrow morning. I just have to remember to keep my mouth shut and smile a lot.
fuckin' hicks.
Dean, Dean, Dean. One thing those who grew up in the South do not appreciate is yankees and Californians leaving their fk'd up states only to tell their new neighbors things should be done like they did them from whence they came. The fuckin' hicks just don't like hearing that.
It's not like it's the first time he's heard that....
my reputation always proceeded me in my duties with the Stste of NY, but I got the job done and the people eventually came around. besides, the tax payers demanded change, and they got it.
