Twice this week I bought what I thought was naturally flavored carbonated water and it turned out to be soda, with tons of sugar substitute in it. WTF?
maybe the sugar substitute was that natural stevia crap....
NOT! The problem is that when I see "0 calories" and "Naturally Flavored Water Beverage", I don't bother to read the ingredient list. The key is "Beverage". Fuckers tricked me again!
Truth is that my eyes aren't as good as they used to be so I should have been wearing glasses to see the list of ingredients. I don't even know what half this shit is:
Filtered Water, Citric Acid, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Phosphoric Acid, Natural Flavor, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Citrate, Sucralose, Calcium Disodium Edta -
It's not like I'm all about healthy eating or anything but don't fucking deceive me.
RANT OVER
Study up Bill Nye
http://sci-toys.com/ingredients/soft_drinks.htmlPhosphoric acid gives the bite to soda (that we think is a result of the carbonation)
Citric acid and Sodium Citrate are flavoring
Sodium Benzoate is a preservative
Sucralose is a non nutritive sugar aka Splenda made by the chlorination of sucrose.
Calcium Disodium EDTA - preservative and flavor/color/texture enhancer
Sodium Hexametaphosphate - thickener, emulsifier and texturizer
Note: both EDTA and Sodium Hexametaphosphate bind heavy metals, so add the (unintended when it comes to soda) benefit of fixing heavy metals decreasing toxicity and aiding removal.
So you're all good.
