lady bought a PPK380 a while back because she could rack the slide easily on the display model. when the new one came in she couldn't rack the slide, she paid $600 I believe. now she's looking at swapping it for a S&W hammerless .38.

PPK's are notorious for being tough to rack. Not much slide to grip, and they have a frame mounted safety. If the display model was easy to rack, it's because they put in a lighter recoil spring - which would not be good for actually, y'know, shooting.

Those S&Ws are great little guns. But I'd recommend trigger work. The DA pull can be a bear unless she does a lot of dry practice.

A vast majority of the monuments you mention weren't erected until the Civil Rights movement anyways, for obvious reasons. At the rate race relations are going in this country right now, I'm sure there will be plenty of monuments in 50 years. They'll just be of people from our time.
