lady bought a PPK380 a while back because she could rack the slide easily on the display model. when the new one came in she couldn't rack the slide, she paid $600 I believe. now she's looking at swapping it for a S&W hammerless .38.
PPK's are notorious for being tough to rack. Not much slide to grip, and they have a frame mounted safety. If the display model was easy to rack, it's because they put in a lighter recoil spring - which would not be good for actually, y'know, shooting.
Those S&Ws are great little guns. But I'd recommend trigger work. The DA pull can be a bear unless she does a lot of dry practice.
