Just sat through an hour seminar on retirement planning and the city's
Deferred Compensation Plans (457, 401K and IRA's).  Sheesh so many off topic
questions, guy had to run through last 10 PowerPoint slides in 3 minutes. Whoever
said there is no such thing as a stupid question, needed to be in that room.

Sounds like in just an hour, you got about 3 days closer to death.

amazing how many people, don't want to put money away tax free for retirement. they say
" I would rather have a Roth account, then I won't have to pay taxes when i take it out!"
#1 do you plan to be making more money at age 70 then you are now?
#2 You would rather pay taxes now, then saving money now pre tax?
#3 Saving $10K annually post tax cost 3-4K now in taxes and lowers take home by $13K versus
$10K pretax with a 7k hit to take home pay.

I plan to be dead by 70. And it'll be bacon related.

Either eating too much, or trying to take a piece from my wife. ;)

Really depends on a lot of factors, including how and how much one is compensated now, and how much one expects to profit on the investments in the Roth.  With a traditional IRA you're presumably taxed at lower rate when you retire because you won't be making as much money.  But it all gets taxed, including capital gains, when you withdraw it.  With the Roth, the capital gains aren't taxed.  Generally speaking, Roths slightly edge traditional IRA's in terms of net return, when all factors are considered.

Good afternoon, everyone. CI has 23% off $99 orders for 23 hours. Too bad they don't have any decent deals on the better cigars to begin with. And of course, no FS. Am I wrong? If so, please let me know.

But I am sure, Gurkha's are 75% off MSRP's.... 8)
who would buy Gurkha's at MSRP, then again some folks voted for the current guy in the White House....
