Let's remember Barry, whose funeral was scheduled to be on Monday.
I was stunned to hear of Barry's death. Thanks for all who posted info & links Would've like to have been at his funeral to pray for his soul, pay my respects & hear good things about him. He was one of the hardest working guys around: teaching school, taking care of his kids, making sure they did well in school & in hockey, surviving abandonment by his wife, rebuilding the old farm house, harvesting asparagus, helping everyone at Cigarfest , getting only 3-4 hours of sleep ... maybe he just wore out/// RIP, Barry! Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all of the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen. Good man.

September 20 is … National Punch Day
The word punch means five, originating from the Hindustani word panch. Punch Day sadly isn’t an excuse to drink five glasses of punch; rather, it celebrates the traditional punch base recipe of five key ingredients, which most punches still use – alcohol (usually spirits), lemon (or other fruits), sugar, water, and tea (or other spices, e.g. cinnamon).

As Raz mentioned yesterday, don't feed your kids Eggo's this morning! :o. NJ & OH are two,of the state's.
Leggo that Eggo, folks.
Kellogg announced Monday that it has voluntarily recalled about 10,000 cases of Eggo waffles in 25 states due to potential listeria contamination.
Listeria can cause serious health issues in children, pregnant women, elderly people and individuals with weakened immune systems. Kellogg said it has not received any reports of illness, but is recalling boxes of frozen waffles out of caution.
Customers who have purchased 10-count boxes of Kellogg’s Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles with a UPC code of 3800 40370 and a Best If Used By Date of Nov. 21, 2017, should discard the items immediately. The company is offering refunds for discarded products.

Today is Tuesday, Sept. 20, the 264th day of 2016. There are 102 days left in the year.
Today's Highlight in History:
On Sept. 20, 1946, the first Cannes Film Festival, lasting 16 days, opened in France. Among the films honored with the Golden Palm were "The Lost Weekend," ''Brief Encounter," ''Rome, Open City" and "Pastoral Symphony"; "The Battle of the Rails" won the International Jury Prize.
On this date:
In 1519, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan and his crew set out from Spain on five ships to find a western passage to the Spice Islands. (Magellan was killed en route, but one of his ships eventually circled the world.)
In 1870, Italian troops took control of the Papal States, leading to the unification of Italy.
In 1884, the National Equal Rights Party was formed during a convention of suffragists in San Francisco; the convention nominated Belva Ann Bennett Lockwood for president.
In 1911, the British liner RMS Olympic collided with the Royal Navy cruiser HMS Hawke off the Isle of Wight; although seriously damaged, the Olympic was able to return to Southampton under its own power.
In 1947, former New York City Mayor Fiorello La Guardia died.
In 1958, Martin Luther King Jr. was seriously wounded during a book signing at a New York City department store when he was stabbed in the chest by Izola Curry. (Curry was later found mentally incompetent; she died at a Queens, New York, nursing home in 2015 at age 98.)
In 1962, James Meredith, a black student, was blocked from enrolling at the University of Mississippi by Democratic Gov. Ross R. Barnett. (Meredith was later admitted.)
In 1973, in their so-called "battle of the sexes," tennis star Billie Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, at the Houston Astrodome. Singer-songwriter Jim Croce, 30, died in a plane crash near Natchitoches, Louisiana.
In 1976, Playboy magazine released an interview in which Democratic presidential nominee Jimmy Carter admitted he'd "looked on a lot of women with lust." The historical drama series "I, Claudius," starring Derek Jacobi as the fourth emperor of Ancient Rome, began airing on BBC Television.
In 1984, a suicide car bomber attacked the U.S. Embassy annex in north Beirut, killing at least 14 people - two Americans and 12 Lebanese. The family sitcoms "The Cosby Show" and "Who's the Boss?" premiered on NBC and ABC, respectively.
In 1999, Lawrence Russell Brewer became the second white supremacist to be convicted in the dragging death of James Byrd Jr. in Jasper, Texas. (Brewer was executed on Sept. 21, 2011.) Raisa Gorbachev, wife of the last Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, died at a German hospital after a battle with leukemia; she was 67.
In 2000, Independent Counsel Robert Ray announced the end of the Whitewater investigation, saying there was insufficient evidence to warrant charges against President Bill Clinton and first lady Hillary Clinton. Former Soviet cosmonaut Gherman Titov died at age 65.
Ten years ago: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez (OO'-goh CHAH'-vez) repeatedly referred to President George W. Bush as "the devil" during a speech to the United Nations. The African Union announced it would extend the mandate of a peacekeeping force in Darfur through the end of the year. Nationalist Shinzo Abe (shin-zoh ah-bay) became head of Japan's ruling party by a landslide. Oscar-winning cinematographer Sven Nykvist died in Stockholm, Sweden, at age 83.
Five years ago: Repeal of the U.S. military's 18-year-old "don't ask, don't tell" compromise took effect, allowing gay and lesbian service members to serve openly. A suicide bomber posing as a Taliban peace envoy assassinated former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani (boor-HAHN'-uh-deen ruh-BAH'-nee).
One year ago: Pope Francis met with Fidel Castro after urging tens of thousands of Cubans to serve one another and not an ideology during a Mass in Havana's Plaza of the Revolution. The CEO of Volkswagen apologized and VW customers said they felt duped after the Environmental Protection Agency revealed that the German automaker had skirted clean air rules by rigging emissions tests for about 500,000 diesel cars. Good morning Daves, back to work after a day in the Children's Hospital in Morristown for a planned test
Morning Scott, Dean. Hope the test results were favorable.
No results for 10 days, my son is very small for his age, always at the bottom or below the growth curve for his age. After a couple trips to the endocrinologist and a nutritionist we are now making sure there's nothing blocking his production of growth hormone. They stimulated that yesterday and took blood every 30 minutes for 4 hours. No other health issues and he's a good athlete so as long as it's normal for him to be this size we won't pursue any other treatments (growth hormone).

That's relatively good news. You feel helpless in those cases. Glad nothing was found.

Amen. Good man.
Amen.

It's funny but my daughter is petite also, not that it's right but just seems more acceptable for girls than boys. They are 2 years apart and he's barely bigger than she is

That would be sad considering the time and cost it takes to develop a nice collection and that we know what it meant to him

The later teen years can bring dramatic changes. My son's nickname on the cross country team in middle school was "Tiny". Now he's 6 ft tall.

Work or not, that trip will be made.
So you can plan your travel I mean Work it will be sometime between January 18 and March 4
You and Bean agree on some dates and I will make it happen. January probably not best as I have to have some medical procedures scheduled.

My brothers son was smal for his age, and the recommend the HGH for him. He's in college now, doing fine.

You were away for 12 days, and you only got 241 emails. I get a huge number of
machine generated emails, (alerts, problems, warnings, & the I'm still alive emails), it is
not uncommon to have 900 or so emails awaiting me after a weekend.
12 days away, and i would have thousands... How many of the emails were from cigar sites?
good morning boys...

Good point. My guess is 150, with another 50 junk mail, 30 webinar invites, leaving 11 emails to which he had to respond.

Been there and lived through that but always good to make sure there are no other underlying conditions, GoodDadsfish. My mother never gave up trying to "fatten" me up. Finally caught up with me in my 30's.
I don't understand.
I was very thin as a young child. they used to joke, that I would eat one piece of pasta,
and throw up two. The best was when I was young, (about 3) they would impress the in-laws by pointing to
something yellow and asking: "che colore è questo?" to which I would proudly answer,
"giallo!", find some else yellow, and point to it, ask the question, my reply; "giallo!".
then they would pick something red or blue and ask the question, and again, my reply: "giallo!".
I was traine4d to answer that question with that one answer, i was not a bilingual prodigy. Although
I understood Italian well enough, because all my grandparents spoke it.

If I got cigar emails here it would have been about 241,000 the way they send out crap. Mine is 98% office related though which means just as worthless as spam.

From Victoria, Texas - Best Obituary I have seen in quite a while!
A man named Howard Wayne Neal from the tiny town of Lolita near Victoria has one of the best obituaries of the year.
Neal, 74, died on Sept. 11 and the obituary placed in the Victoria Advocate last week evokes equal parts Ron Swanson and Charles Bukowski.
“Wayne Neal has exited his rickety old body, having lived twice as long as he expected and way longer then he deserved,” the obit states in the first paragraph. “He often wished in his later years that he had not treated his body like a Tavern.
“Wayne never met a man he didn't want to Indian leg wrestle, or play mercy with. Mainly because he was an ornery ole bastard,” it continues.
Neal was a contractor in life, “the best concrete contractor in all of Texas,” according to the obit. His wife Carolyn died before him (“mainly because she had enough of his shenanigans,” his obit says) and he survived by one son, plus another unnamed one. Wonder what the story is there.
“He had a passion for old cars, scotch, his construction company, scotch, travel, and oh yeah scotch. Did we mention scotch?” Neal’s obit declares.
Neal’s funeral service was on Sept. 17 at the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna.
One of Neal’s grandchildren is Christie Neal. The 35-year-old works for the family’s Lolita-based Mirage Industrial Group.
She remembers her grandfather for his eccentric ways and assures the Houston Chronicle that everything in the obit is true. It was written in part by one of his sons. She only wishes that it would have mentioned his fondness for arm wrestling at the bar.
“Everything in the obit is real. He was eccentric because he could be,” she says. After he retired he spent his time driving across the country taking in the sights.
For the record his favorite scotch was Chivas Regal.

For the record his favorite scotch was Chivas Regal.
honesty is always best. maybe I'll write my own.
Don't worry, we'll write it for you. And we'll be REALLY accurate. ;)
And we will not leave out your trusty and faithful DAWG either!
No way, that guy's gonna take up 3/4 of the obit!

Leaving early sounds good, meant to open a bottle of vino yesterday,
ended up drinking iced tea instead. Note to self, corkscrew is in the draw by the sink,
or use the rabbit contraption on top of the fridge. pick wine from wine rack first, it might have
a screw top....

Yeah, hopefully the last week of this schitt for the year. Enjoying an El Centruion with coffee in the cool, smoke exhausted confines of the office while filling out a laborious pre-qualification on-line form. At least it's not a diversity webinar.
