How kids interprets what is said to them...   My 4 year old grandson ran up to his dad and said, "Will you hook up the Game Cube to your tv in the bedroom...?"  My son said, "It's an older tv and you have to unhook the 3 wires (RYW) from the back of the tv, then attach the same color wires from the game cube to the tv.  But I'm busy at the moment and can't do it...!  Grandson runs to mommy....  Mommy, "Daddy said you have to disconnect 3 wires from the back of the tv, and hook up the Game Cube...!"

A couple of months ago I had to go to the Dentist.  Ugh...!  1st visit.  Yes you have a bad tooth, make another visit.  2nd visit. You will need a root canal, or a root canal and a crown, or pull the tooth...!  Long pause.... Still long pause..... Still long pause.... Finally I said, "Are you going to suggest something...?"  Well, "It's up to you..."  Well, "What is best, I prefer not to have to pull the tooth...?"  Let's go with the root canal, and if you want the crown, you can get the crown.  So, make another visit for a root canal.  3rd visit.  Root canal started, and finished with some temporary filling.  Make another visit.  4th visit. Does root canal. Drill slips off the side of the tooth and drills into my tong.  He said it was my falt because I moved my tong in front of the drill.  But when I got home I realized he hadn't drilled into my tong, but drilled under my tong into that soft palet.  Places steel bar into tooth and applies temp filling.  Come back to replace the filling.  5 visit.  Removed temp filling, refills and I'm done.  But I say, "Well what about the crown...?  Ok, make another visit.  6 visit.  Drills off what he did except for the little steel bar and makes a cast.  Glues on temp crown.  Make another visit.  (temp crown fall off later that night..)  7th visit.  Glues in Crown. Finished.  One tooth, 7 visits...!  No wonder these Dentist are rich...!

Did the service light come on?  Honda doesn't go by timing or necessarily miles.  The sensors will tell you when oil change or other actions are needed.

Today is Wednesday, Aug. 24, the 237th day of 2016. There are 129 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Aug. 24, A.D. 79, long-dormant Mount Vesuvius erupted, burying the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum in volcanic ash; an estimated 20,000 people died.

On this date:

In 1572, the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre of French Protestants at the hands of Catholics began in Paris.

In 1814, during the War of 1812, British forces invaded Washington, D.C., setting fire to the Capitol (which was still under construction) and the White House, as well as other public buildings.

In 1821, the Treaty of Cordoba (kohr-DOH'-buh) was signed, granting independence to Mexico from Spanish rule.

In 1912, Congress passed a measure creating the Alaska Territory. Congress approved legislation establishing Parcel Post delivery by the U.S. Post Office Department, slated to begin on January 1, 1913.

In 1932, Amelia Earhart embarked on a 19-hour flight from Los Angeles to Newark, New Jersey, making her the first woman to fly solo, non-stop, from coast to coast.

In 1949, the North Atlantic Treaty came into force.

In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Communist Control Act, outlawing the Communist Party in the United States.

In 1968, France became the world's fifth thermonuclear power as it exploded a hydrogen bomb in the South Pacific.

In 1970, an explosives-laden van left by anti-war extremists blew up outside the University of Wisconsin's Sterling Hall in Madison, killing 33-year-old researcher Robert Fassnacht.

In 1981, Mark David Chapman was sentenced in New York to 20 years to life in prison for murdering John Lennon. (Chapman remains imprisoned.)

In 1989, Baseball Commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti (juh-MAH'-tee) banned Pete Rose from the game for betting on his own team, the Cincinnati Reds.

In 1992, Hurricane Andrew smashed into Florida, causing $30 billion in damage; 43 U.S. deaths were blamed on the storm.

Ten years ago: The International Astronomical Union declared that Pluto was no longer a full-fledged planet, demoting it to the status of a "dwarf planet"; Patricia Tombaugh, the widow of Pluto discoverer Clyde Tombaugh, called the decision "disappointing" and "confusing."

Five years ago: A defiant Moammar Gadhafi vowed from hiding to fight on "until victory or martyrdom" and called on residents of the Libyan capital and loyal tribesmen across his North African nation to free Tripoli from the "devils and traitors" who had overrun it. Steve Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple Inc.; he was succeeded by Tim Cook. Mike Flanagan, a Cy Young winner and part of the Baltimore Orioles' 1983 World Series championship team, was found dead outside his home in Monkton, Maryland; he was 59.

One year ago: U.S. Airman Spencer Stone, National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos, their longtime friend Anthony Sadler and British businessman Chris Norman were presented with the Legion of Honor by French President Francois Hollande (frahn-SWAH' oh-LAWND'), who credited them with tackling a heavily armed attacker and preventing carnage on a high-speed train headed to Paris. Driver Justin Wilson, 37, died one day after he was struck in the head by a piece of debris during the Verizon IndyCar Series race at Pocono Raceway.

More than 4,000 sex toys doled out for UT campus carry protest

It’s not every day that more than 4,000 sex toys get passed out on a college campus. Tuesday was such a day at the University of Texas, part of a protest against a new state law that allows handgun licensees to carry concealed weapons in classrooms and certain other areas of public universities.

Robaa Al-Najar, a sophomore double-majoring in psychology and neuroscience, picked up a couple of the toys that were shaped like an oversized male organ. How long will she be toting them around strapped to her backpack?

“Probably for just a day,” Al-Najar said. “Hopefully the message gets across.”

Nice, I have quite the order shipping today.  Had to make the shipping cost worthwhile.  Most of mine were not BeanO's but very good deals for LFD and Warped brands which are hard to find.  I did get that 5'r of Centurion Robustos for $11 though.

Pretty much sums it up.  Interesting, yesterday afternoon they had a news guy on campus asking them what campus carry mean, what open carry meant and what was the difference.  Correct answers to all = 0  Not a single one could answer any of the 3 questions correctly and several just said I have no idea.

I believe the comparison is between needing to walk around carrying a gun to having to carry a huge dick with you. The implication should be obvious.

Pretty much sums it up.  Interesting, yesterday afternoon they had a news guy on campus asking them what campus carry mean, what open carry meant and what was the difference.  Correct answers to all = 0  Not a single one could answer any of the 3 questions correctly and several just said I have no idea.
But by golly they're pretty upset about it nevertheless!
One female not appearing to be of American decent said she had now idea but it was about guns so she was protesting.
They should have handed out Gun Free Zone t-shirts and backpack stickers for them to wear while walking around campus at night.

Damn right, hit them where it hurts!   Now the drive-in line will only be a block down the street rather than 2 blocks down the street.  My son likes those, he may be boycotting too.

Chick-fil-A is getting boycott threats for killing its spicy-chicken biscuit

And here is why a Secretary of State guilty of violating the Rico Act and at least 10 other felony crimes does not seem to matter, if she had fuct with their favorite breakfast they would not vote for her.

"I feel violated," Crockett Gambrel wrote on the company's page. "I have been stopping at Chick-fil-A at least two or three times a week for years. I alternated between spicy chicken biscuits, and spicy chicken burritos, but my store has tossed both of them. Why would they do this to me??"

Lisa Reese-Gordon wrote: "When you took away my spicy chicken biscuit, you took away my reason to get breakfast. There is nothing better than a spicy chicken biscuit with honey on it! I will never have breakfast at Chick-fil-A again

Jack Chambers threatened to boycott Chick-fil-A, writing: "Won't spend another dollar for breakfast at Chick-fil-A until the biscuit is back."

At breakfast and lunch, I they have someone directing traffic at the one near me.  And if there is a high school nearby then it is really bad.

Morning Golf, Travellin Dave and almostonvacationFish.
Morning Dave, received my Famous bid order yesterday, (15) El Centurian Robustos and (5) Four Kicks CGs for >$60 shipped. CheapoBean approved deal
Nice, I have quite the order shipping today.  Had to make the shipping cost worthwhile.  Most of mine were not BeanO's but very good deals for LFD and Warped brands which are hard to find.  I did get that 5'r of Centurion Robustos for $11 though.
Having the Warped in the mix would make a cheapo deal analysis problematic.  Outstanding on the El Cents, though.
Well I bought a box of La Hacienda Robustos (25 cigars) for $120 and I don't think you will beat that anywhere.
About $25 better than I have seen.  Keep you eye out for Futuro's as well, you won't be disappointed.
But not a CheapyCheapo qualified purchase... ???

It’s not every day that more than 4,000 sex toys get passed out on a college campus. Tuesday was such a day at the University of Texas, part of a protest against a new state law that allows handgun licensees to carry concealed weapons in classrooms and certain other areas of public universities.

Robaa Al-Najar, a sophomore double-majoring in psychology and neuroscience, picked up a couple of the toys that were shaped like an oversized male organ. How long will she be toting them around strapped to her backpack?

“Probably for just a day,” Al-Najar said. “Hopefully the message gets across.”
What's the point they're trying to make?  Other than the obvious "we're idiots", of course.
I believe the comparison is between needing to walk around carrying a gun to having to carry a huge dick with you. The implication should be obvious.
What if you've got both?   (I'm asking for a friend)

Sure takes a long time for the sun to come up in Ohio... :-\
Come back in January, when it won't come up for 3 months.
On second thought, don't, cause it sucks here in January.
Been there, done that.
Also, stuff like this happens. Lol

Well, CB & Travellin Dave were both there so use your best guess as to which one it was.
GFY!  We were actually in Kentucky.
Yea, what he said!  and Lito will vouch for us.
The cigar event was in KY. Obviously, the after party was in OH.

Think I will take a walk down to Lavazza for coffee and a rack check.
Photos this time!  Just don't get arrested, perv.
Arrested as a pervert is the problem with photo ops but you should drop by one morning and have coffee while getting both eyes full!  Holy cow she has a beautiful set.
What about the customer from last week?  You seen her again?
Unfortunately no I have not because she was head to toe super hot, natural and young, the manager is a late 30 something and not bad looking but OMG what a rack!

LFD cigar tasting itch Zlitto Gomez hisself in attendance at The Beer Seller down on the Newport KY levee looking across the Ohio River at downtown Cincinnati.  Smokin' and jokin' with Traveling Dave.  Mild day for a change.  Litto is a personable guy who actually speaks English.  Apparently an intense fuss ball player.  Tall, skinny guy.  Commented on how lucky we were to have place like the Beer Seller to kick back and enjoy our cigars.  Oh, and the Reds beat the Rangers.

Been a while since I saw any news on this one.

Mom of 'affluenza teen' working at a Honky Tonk Woman Saloon in North Texas

Tonya Couch is awaiting trial on charges of hindering apprehension of a felon and money laundering.

Couch now works as a bartender at Honky Tonk Woman Saloon in Azle, a town with a population just over 11,000, WFAA 8 reported Wednesday. The bar’s owner and Tonya Couch’s attorney Stephanie Patten confirmed to the news station that she has been working at the establishment for about two months.

Pro-gun group approves of UT dildo-friendly protest

"If carrying a phallus to class helps you express yourself, go for it," they say

Students for Concealed Carry released a statement early Wednesday saying they embraced dildo use by University of Texas at Austin students this week, who are protesting the controversial campus carry law. The regulation took effect Aug. 1, 2016, and allows students and staff with concealed carry licenses to bring firearms to campus.

Ya know, if emails to her daughter is the worst shit they can dig up, this wild goose chase is more sad than I thought.

They got the Clinton Foundation, old Arkansas real estate boondoggles.  Why waste their time with this nonsense?
Well wtf is she doing emailing her daughter while in high level foreign policy meetings and during a terrorist attack????  Then there is that teeny little lie about the attack being from a video while she was right there telling her daughter it was a terrorist attack.  And if the purpose was not to deceive wtf was she using a fake name?  Explain all that to the family's of the 4 she got killed.
Lets not get carried away on her getting them killed at the embassy.  Most US Embassy's are underprotected and have been underfunded for years by all politicians.  Yea, Bengazi was a shitshow, but tons of blame to go around from SoS to Republicans to Dems. to military leadership.
Her circus, her monkeys, her shitshow. her presidential campaign.  We get to get carried away.  Mocking presidential candidates is not some grave injustice to good people.  Good people don't run for president.  Good people can't get elected president.  You run for president, we get to throw shit at you.  It's the American Way.

So where did all the money come from, husband?  Did they blow through it?  Is the tipping real good at that bar?
Seems more like a "white trash teen" over an "affluenza teen"
I don't think there ever was a sum of money that most would consider "rich or wealthy" but just enough to be white trash rich and it did not take them long to burn it up.
Hiding out in Mexico and attorney fees will do that, but quick.

No, it's politics. It's the nature of the beast.
Like why we're worrying about transgender bathrooms and birth control while the economy and infrastructure go to hell?
Exactly.  And 'tis always been this way.  The media developed a noble, shiny image during the twentieth century because big, noble events were happening, like world wars and cold wars and space shots.  But when faced with a dearth of noble causes, the media reverts to what it started as, back in the middle of the 18th century: a ridiculous political tool.

Special Tropical Weather Outlook issued to update discussion on
tropical wave in the Caribbean.

Tropical Weather Outlook

TS Gaston is turning North into the Atlantic with a projected path east of Bermuda and should not pose a threat to the U.S.  But a tropical wave in the southern Caribbean is of concern to the U.S.

Updated:  An Air Force Reconnaissance aircraft currently
investigating the broad low pressure area and tropical wave near
the northern Leeward Islands has found winds to tropical storm force
in a few squalls near the northernmost Leeward Islands.  Squalls to
tropical storm force can be expected over the extreme northern
Leeward Islands and portions of the northern U.S. and British Virgin
Islands this afternoon. The reconnaissance aircraft mission is
ongoing to determine whether or not a tropical cyclone has formed.

Although environmental conditions are currently only marginally
conducive for additional development, this system could become a
tropical depression or tropical storm at any time during the next
few days while it moves west-northwestward at about 15 mph across
the northern Leeward Islands, near or over Puerto Rico, Hispaniola,
and the Bahamas.  Strong winds, heavy rains, and possible flash
floods and mudslides are expected to occur over portions of the
Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and the southeastern and
central Bahamas.  Please consult products issued by your local
meteorological offices for further details. Interests in the
northwestern Bahamas and Florida should also monitor the progress
of this system.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent

Homer active or hurt these days, have not been paying much attention?
Homer was the starting pitcher in the 18-9 loss to the Dodgers on Monday marathon game.  32 pitches just to get out of the first inning.  Sheesh!  Second start since Tommy John surgery back in May 2015.

Kind of a sad tale for some of us seasoned citizens!   Had one in Shreveport near the airport, eating ice cream after drinking heavily one night in high school with a chickadee and backed my Mom's car into a utility pole in the HoJo parking lot.

Howard Johnson's Last Restaurant Puts HoJo's on Brink

The closing of one of the last two Howard Johnson restaurants means no more fried clam strips, ice cream and other menu staples that nourished American baby boomers and leaves the orange-roofed restaurant chain teetering on the brink of extinction.

The slice of roadside Americana will no longer be served up in Bangor, Maine after Sept. 6, reported The Associated Press.

I remember when they were everywhere. Yeah, there's a certain nostalgic sense of loss.  But HoJo's is a victim of itself.  Once upon a time, every travel stop, every roadside restaurant, every gas station was somewhat unique.  HoJo was among those corporations that rushed to provide the public with a comfortable sameness.  People do find the familiar comfortable and safe, but when you build a ubiquitous product, eventually people get bored with it.  Somebody opens up a new and shiny place, your sales drop, then you have to cut costs, the employees become second-rate, the food quality goes down because you have to start using cheaper source materials....yadda, yadda, yadda.

HoJo's came to symbolize a particular time, place, and experience in America.  The turmoil of the 60's and the stagnation of the 70's poisoned that experience.  The downfall was inevitable.

We’re from the government and we’re here to help. Louisiana residents have been doing an awesome job of helping themselves, including thousands of boat owners, dubbed the “Cajun Navy,” who took to their own craft to rescue neighbors. Now a state legislator wants to require training, certificates, and state permits for boat owners who want to rescue people during a natural disaster.

As to liability that is why pretty much every state including LA has "Good Samaritan Laws" to protect those rendering aid.

Lets see, we establish a place called American University, and put it in Afghanistan, Bagdad, Istanbul, Beirut or whatever and are surprised if it is attacked or bombed?
Right? I mean, sometimes, you can kinda see why all these other groups hate us. We have a lot of nerve on some things. And then the political commercials start!
Too much educating  and not enough bombing their asses back a couple of more centuries.

Pieces of head lettuce with a few thin slices of a white cheese tossed in.  The original thought might have been a caesar salad, but the kitchen said fk it, just serve this.

Just unfuknbelievable stupidity

CajunNavy

We’re from the government and we’re here to help. Louisiana residents have been doing an awesome job of helping themselves, including thousands of boat owners, dubbed the “Cajun Navy,” who took to their own craft to rescue neighbors. Now a state legislator wants to require training, certificates, and state permits for boat owners who want to rescue people during a natural disaster.
...and this is a Republican "small government" proponent.
Well, in fairness, what he's advocating is that those who are permitted would be allowed to function in concert with other rescue personnel.  In other words, police would utilize them in an emergency rather than running them off as interference.

But yeah, it's a solution in search of a problem.  Nothing stops the police from utilizing boat owners in this capacity now, except the potential for liability, but this doesn't address that.  So it just becomes a potential revenue stream, which no politician of any stripe can ever turn down.

There is no such thing as "small government politicians " anymore regardless of the meaninglessness brand.
There are those who want big government, and then there are those who THINK they want small government...until their neighborhood is underwater.  The rest of us are considered right-wing whacko survivalists.

It's less about size and more about limiting the role of government.  Responding to an underwater neighborhood is a government role.  Relieving parents of the responsibility for raising their children is not.

Had a couple of soft launches, just now being released in all vitolas.  Gift from DPG.  I haven't had it yet, but review from Halfwheel gives the impression of a solid Four Kicks offering.  Sister cigar, La Careme made for Four Kicks by EPC should be arriving soon as well.
