NJ wins the Commie Award with this one even if it does exclude donuts!

Drinking coffee while driving could land you in hot water if a new piece of legislation passes.

A bill in New Jersey targeting distracted drivers would levy hefty fines and a possible license suspension against those who eat, drink, groom, read, or use electronic devices while behind the wheel. In other words, drive and only drive, or else!

Although the bill’s sponsors — Assemblyman John Wisniewski and Nicholas Chiaravalloti, both Democrats — claim the legislation is intended to educate, not punish, drivers, its penalties speak volumes.

“Violators could face a $200 to $400 fine for the first offense and a $400 to $600 fine for a second offense. A third or subsequent offense could mean a fine of $600 to $800 and up to a 90 day license suspension, as well as motor vehicle points,” according to nj.com.

If that isn’t punishment, one has to wonder what is.

Today is Monday, Aug. 8, the 221st day of 2016. There are 145 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Aug. 8, 1974, President Richard Nixon announced his resignation, effective the next day, following damaging new revelations in the Watergate scandal.

On this date:

In 1815, Napoleon Bonaparte set sail for St. Helena to spend the remainder of his days in exile.

In 1911, President William Howard Taft signed a measure raising the number of U.S. representatives from 391 to 433, effective with the next Congress, with a proviso to add two more when New Mexico and Arizona became states.

In 1937, during the Second Sino-Japanese War, Japan completed its occupation of Beijing.

In 1942, during World War II, six Nazi saboteurs who were captured after landing in the U.S. were executed in Washington, D.C.; two others who'd cooperated with authorities were spared.

In 1945, President Harry S. Truman signed the U.S. instrument of ratification for the United Nations Charter. The Soviet Union declared war against Japan during World War II.

In 1953, the United States and South Korea initialed a mutual security pact.

In 1963, Britain's "Great Train Robbery" took place as thieves made off with 2.6 million pounds in banknotes.

In 1968, the Republican national convention in Miami Beach nominated Richard Nixon for president on the first ballot.

In 1973, Vice President Spiro T. Agnew branded as "damned lies" reports he had taken kickbacks from government contracts in Maryland, and vowed not to resign - which he ended up doing.

In 1994, Israel and Jordan opened the first road link between the two once-warring countries.

In 2007, space shuttle Endeavour roared into orbit with teacher-astronaut Barbara Morgan on board.

In 2009, Sonia Sotomayor was sworn in as the U.S. Supreme Court's first Hispanic and third female justice.

Ten years ago: Sen. Joe Lieberman lost the Connecticut Democratic primary to political newcomer Ned Lamont (however, Lieberman ended up winning re-election to the Senate by running as an independent). The Federal Reserve left a benchmark interest rate unchanged after 17 consecutive rate hikes over more than two years. Roger Goodell was chosen as the NFL's next commissioner.

Five years ago: Eager to calm a nervous nation, President Barack Obama dismissed an unprecedented downgrade by Standard & Poor's of the U.S. credit rating from AAA to AA-plus, declaring: "No matter what some agency may say, we've always been and always will be a triple-A country."

One year ago: Several rivals of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump criticized his treatment of a debate moderator; the real estate mogul and reality television star remained unbowed, refusing to apologize for saying on CNN that Megyn Kelly, who had aggressively questioned him during the primary debate on Fox News, had "blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever" when she asked him about his incendiary comments toward women. A family of six children and two parents were handcuffed and fatally shot in the head at a Houston home; David Conley, who authorities said had previously been in a relationship with the mother and had a dispute with her, was charged with capital murder.

Pokémon Hit

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A 20-year-old man was shot to death while playing "Pokemon Go" at a tourist attraction along San Francisco's waterfront, authorities and a family friend said on Sunday.

Calvin Riley was shot Saturday night by an unknown assailant at Aquatic Park near Ghiradelli Square, the U.S. Park Police said.

A family friend told KGO-TV Riley and a friend were playing the hit mobile game when he was shot.

"From what we know there was no confrontation. There was nothing said back and forth. It was just senseless, just came up and shot in the back and ran away for nothing," John Kirby said.

Kirby said Riley and his friend had noticed someone watching them from the top of a hill that overlooks the park, but it was dark and they were mostly looking at their cellphones.

National Park Service spokesman Lynn Cullivan said investigators believe there are witnesses to the attack because it happened in the bustling Fisherman's Wharf area. They are seeking tips.

Because I made some substantial changes to the plan when I was there, of course I wanted it bigger as in TWSS.  Once I sign off and make a deposit (as soon as he works up a final conceptual design) the price is fixed UNLESS I change something.

That should occur in the next 7-10 days.

Talkin' to myself and feelin' old
Sometimes I'd like to quit
Nothin' ever seems to fit
Hangin' around
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

What I've got they used to call the blues
Nothin' is really wrong
Feelin' like I don't belong
Walkin' around
Some kind of lonely clown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny, but it seems I always wind up here with you
Nice to know somebody loves me
Funny, but it seems that it's the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me (the one who loves me)

What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out (talk it out)
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny, but it seems that it's the only thing to do (only thing to do)
Run and find the one who loves me

What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown

Morning Dean, I believe I would give the soft tire a higher priority rating unless perhaps Viagra fill fix that particular tire".
I should but I have a small compressor in the truck. think I have a nail in the tread I can't locate, hopefully they can do a plug.

Just applies to the driver, Chris Christie, can still eat donuts, in the back of the limo,
while state troopers drive him around.   I can't tell you how many women I see putting on eye makeup in the vanity mirror while driving.  texting is another big thing while driving here.

Texting and talking on phones are a huge safety issue everywhere and needs to be addressed  but drinking your coffee, water or cola  is pure commie bullshit.  And this is the lie of all lie's right here:  "the legislation is intended to educate, not punish, drivers"   It Is Intended To Generate Revenue and Nothing Else!

Coffe poleece as if keeping the peace is enough of a job already.

I couldn't have said it better myself... even 7 hours later.
