Happy Friday!  Any deals on the various internet sites that are worth talking about?  Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something along the way.  Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either...  And welcome aboard!

Hi NJD & TR, from yesterday ... had to take off after posting.  Thursday night Cigar Club ... $1 domestic bottles ... the only time I drink Rolling Rock and Bud ... normally I prefer the microbrews (of which I had a RockBottom $2 Double IPA - 9.3 APV and a wonderful Milk Stout on Wednesday night).  Had my first Diesel Wicked and a La Perla Habana Grand Pearl tonight ... liked the first better.

Heck, I've got a bit more time to go and already have mine all picked out....no more planning needed.

I really like that Habersham plan, Habersham Plantation is a really nice development in Beaufort that we have looked at twice.  Just a small point, in the south porches without screen are almost useless in warm weather, strongly suggest screen!  Mine is near exactly the same heated square footage (+/- 50')  as the Patrick Square but only 2 bedrooms, but I luv sitting outside and have almost 900 sq feet of screen porch.

The crane – which was swinging a wrecking ball — toppled over on Worth Street between West Broadway and Church Street at 8:24 a.m., crushing several cars parked on the street, according to witnesses and fire officials.

Multiple ambulances and emergency responders were on the Tribeca scene.

It is unclear how the crane collapsed.
No where near me but hearing fire trucks and ambulances. Pretty fucked up.

No, he's even further northwest of me.
Good, maybe it took out the ex...

Yep, elevation and proper wind load structure are the most important thing though according to my Insurance experts.  Can be insured at normal rates with correct BFE (base floor elevation) as determined by FEMA and wind load structural design.  It will be designed for 150mph and not on the ocean front.

The key element is using "strong ties" and proper nails or screws, personally I prefer screws.

Have you tried any yet?

I have been meaning to get to the b&m to get a couple, but haven't had a chance to get down to the place where I know they'll have a decent enough selection to find these. The 5er was $28. The smaller fileroid vitola, but a good price for what I've been watching them go for. I have been very curious to try them. 101's are usually solid.

Also had a bid on some of the Curivari Cafe Noir's you recommended, but lost to a final $3 bid... was that you? lol

I've had the Ranflactic (5 1/2 x 30/50/19)  Beautiful looking cigar, rich subtle notes throughout.  One of those cigars to save for when you can really pay attention to the smoke.  Would not consider boxworthy however at the current price.

I've been eyeballing that Liga Undercrown Shade Grand Toro 5 pack over on the Monster for $26.98.  I really like the Undercrown, so I've been very curious about that one.
Been curious about that one too, for the same reason.

Good morning gents...

Hey, Dad... What's for lunch?
Hamburgers on a bun with grilled onions.  I haven't decided on a side dish yet.
Well if you're not going to make french fries, then do tater tots.
I'm out of potatoes at the moment, so it would have to be some thing out of a box such as Rice A Roni, or Knorr noodles.  I'll think of something.

Morning, muchachos.

Hey, Mr. Toe. How's it go... ing?
The toe complains. Otherwise, things is alright.

Gigs this weekend?
No, but three next weekend. This weekend In have to meet with the Fair people about playing there in June.

The Carny Union can be a tough sell... make sure "they" are proving the chicken wire for the stage.  ;)
I'm not selling. They're begging us to headline the show. The headliners were a debacle last year and we saved the evening. ;-)
Well, as long as you're humble about it.
We're professional, and we don't drive the audience away.

Ha! Let 'em have this, Dave... It's not that glamorous. There's actually a good chance a broken beer bottle will be brandished. It is fun playing in front of a decent crowd though.

I had a Hair of the Dog (Robusto) yesterday.  I wasn't that crazy about them, but this one had been in my humidor for 8 months and was rather good.  I guess time served must have shaved some of that hair off of it.

Think I might have replied to you before.  The Shade has little to nothing to do with Undercrown as far as taste.  A smooth tasty Connecticut, but pricy due to the Undercrown name.  Worth trying, but only if part of a good deal.

Not a bargain, but free shipping!

Memo from Cigar Federation:

Hey there David!

Happy Friday! I just found out we will be getting our shipment of the La Imperiosa Minutos early next week and wanted to give you first dibs.

The Minutos is a limited edition designed to enjoy during the winter months when it is colder than XXXX outside. It is the same blend as the La Imperiosa but comes in Short Corona format 4 3/8 x 42.

Since you are have ordered Crowned Heads products from us in the past I will sweeten the pot. Until Midnight tonight any quantity purchased (five pack, ten pack, and 50 count boxes) will come with free shipping.

Enjoy!

Thanks,

Logan

Not sure about your thoughts on the La Imperiosa, NJDave, but I'd think the larger RG would be better for that. The CG's are okay, but I think the Dukes was the better of the sampler... .02

Enjoy!

Thanks,

Logan
And add +/- 8.5% tax if you are in Texas

Page has La Triv. boxes about $15 less than I've seen elsewhere.
But $1.50 more than they had them on special for previously. ;)
With FS?
Yeah. I've never NOT seen FS at the Page, honestly.
Page has had free shipping on all cigars and most other things since they opened.

A 2-1 ruling Thursday by the federal 4th Circuit Court of Appeals struck a blow to a Maryland law that placed a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. It was former Gov. Martin O'Malley who in 2013 hastily enacted the ban shortly after the Newtown school massacre.

The judges concluded that these types of weapons "are in common use by law-abiding citizens" and cannot be considered "unusual" like hand grenades or fully-automatic machine guns. As such, semi-automatic weapons don't fall under any Second Amendment exceptions.

The National Rifle Association is pleased with the ruling, calling it "an important victory for the Second Amendment" and praised the judges for applying "the highest level of judicial scrutiny… when governments try to restrict our 2A freedoms."

Maryland's Attorney General Brian E. Frosh doesn't feel the same and says the decision "conflicts sharply with rulings of other federal appellate courts." His plan is to appeal all the way up to the Supreme Court.

For now, the ban remains in place pending a decision by the District Court, reports The Baltimore Sun.

I have 2 bundles of the Torano Dominico robustos, 2 bundles of EPC 2nd robustos, Motherlode 18 sampler, box of Partagas Black robusto, box of Montesino robusto, and 2-5 packs of Padron #3000 coming Tuesday or Wednesday. I spend too much on cigars!
You have been busy shopping!   I knownow you like to smoke-um not watch-um but those  Partagas blacks are excellent but best if given a little time to rest.

Don't we all spend too much on cigars but what the hell.
Cigars, booze, guns, ammo...yeah, I spend too much. But it wouldn't be too much if the kids weren't so damned costly.
I have a pistol, and my conceal carry application, and next week I do the hand gun safety class. other than that, just cigars and bills.
So what pistole did you get?
Taurus semi auto .380
9 mm Kurz.
CB a Nazi?  Nazi name for 9 X 17, 9mm short and .380 auto or .380 ACP
9 mm Luger - silly 2 mm longer.
I believe Kurz is a 9 X 17 (thus the 9mm short) or .380 and I know a Luger is 9x 19 parabellum.

9x18 is about the largest practical caliber for a straight blowback pistol, but the manual of operations is hard on the hands because of the heavy slide and spring. Hence the popularity of the Kurz/.380.

Russian commie though not Nazi and I believe the Makarov pistol and machine guns were the only things ever made to shoot it.  I see batches of old ones for sale sometimes.

The Nazis rejected the 9x18 because they thought it had poor accuracy. Makarov had a better design, but it came late to the game in 1946. The most popular handgun calibers now, save for the .40 S&W, are all holdovers from World War I.

Your favored .357 Sig is also an exception, but despite superb performance is a niche player.

How many minutes left?

I'll take 12 of them off your hands if that helps with the decision making. Give you cash on the 17th. ;)
