February 4 is the 35th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. There are 331 days remaining until the end of the year (331 in leap years).

This day marks the approximate midpoint of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and of summer in the Southern Hemisphere (starting the season at the December solstice).

I don't think you want to know.
1788  First cigar factory in Germany established in Hamburg by Hans Heinrich Schlottmann, who learned the craft in Spain. Hamburg became one of Europe’s cigar making centers.

1807  A German newspaper, Der Anzeiger, reports “When Spanish troops entered our city most of the soldiers were seen to be smoking tobacco rolled in paper.” Shortly thereafter, a Hamburg merchant began making cigarettes of black tobacco. They didn’t catch on..

When meeting with the home designer yesterday I told her we wanted 3' wide clearances in certain areas and a few other accessible items in case us old folks become wheel chair confined and such.   She said certainly, she always recommends that to those 50 and older building their likely last home.  She said she calls it "aging in place" design.

Not our last home I told her there is the nursing home and funeral home and at least one of them is going to come into play.

There is "no question" Ken Stabler had CTE, the doctor that examined the late NFL great's brain after his death last year told ESPN's "Outside the Lines."

CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, is a degenerative brain disease believed to be caused by repeated blows to the head. Researching the condition is difficult, however, because it can only be diagnosed upon the examination of the brain after death, the sports site noted.

CEO XXXX said the company was stepping up its cost-cutting program and reining in spending.

cigar #3: AF Flor Fina 8-5-8 maduro and still more coffee. rain and thunderstorms moving in.
got a good price on 25 at the ABC store with my 'discount points', paid $3.07 a piece for them.
What are you doing visiting the ABC store?
I try to hit it when the cigar reps show up, usually Wednesday mornings. I can usually get a buy 3 get 1 free.

Thanks for the perspective, Dave.

Happy Birthday

1902 Charles Augustus Lindbergh d. 1974 American aviator, "Lucky Lindy." He was the first person to fly non-stop across the Atlantic (1927).

1948 – Alice Cooper, American singer-songwriter and actor
Partied with "Alice", his band and Flo & Eddie (lead singers of the Turtles) who opened the concert back in the '70s after a concert
at our school.  They were hilarious ... Alice, always with a Bud bottle in his hand ... (heard he's sober and become a born again Christian) ...
fully stocked bar in the Hilton Hotel room/suite ... had to try the Chivas ... out of reach normally for a poor college student.  Some other funny
stuff happened that I can't really talk about since this is a somewhat public forum.
