Ten years ago: Suicide terrorist bombings in three Underground stations and a double-decker bus killed 52 victims and four bombers in the worst attack on London since World War II. Al-Qaida's wing in Iraq claimed to have killed Egypt's top envoy, Ihab al-Sherif, who'd been abducted by gunmen.

Five years ago: President Barack Obama bypassed the Senate and appointed Dr. Donald Berwick to run Medicare and Medicaid. In Philadelphia, a disabled sightseeing "duck boat" adrift in the Delaware River was struck by a barge and capsized; two Hungarian tourists died. Los Angeles police charged Lonnie Franklin Jr. in the city's "Grim Sleeper" serial killings.

One year ago: Washington state issued its first retail marijuana licenses. Pope Francis begged forgiveness in his first meeting with Catholics sexually abused by members of the clergy and vowed to hold bishops responsible for their handling of pedophile priests. Eduard Shevardnadze, 86, the Soviet Union's foreign minister who helped end the Cold War but then as Georgia's president was forced into retirement by parliament, died in Tbilisi. Actor Dick Jones, 87, the voice of Pinocchio in the classic 1940 Walt Disney cartoon, died in Los Angeles.

Chinese Business Trip
-------------------------

A man went on a business trip to China and wanted to buy some gifts
for his kids.  He went to a shop and found a nice looking CD player.
Wary of buying inferior goods, he asked the shopkeeper, 'What would
happened if this does not work?'

The shopkeeper quietly points to the only sign in English that reads,
'GUARANTEE NO SPOILT'.

Feeling assured, he paid for the CD player and returns to his hotel.
He tried to use the CD player after returning to the hotel but it
would not even switch on.

He quickly return to the shop and asked for a refund or an exchange
for another unit.  When the shopkeeper refused to give either, the man points to the sign
assuring him of a guarantee.

The shopkeeper then said, 'Brother, you are in China. We read from the
right to the left.'

TALLAHASSEE Florida State dismissed freshman quarterback DeAndre Johnson from the team Monday, the same day prosecutors released surveillance video showing him punching a woman at a bar.

In a statement Monday, coach Jimbo Fisher announced Johnsons immediate dismissal. The quarterback had been suspended after the June 24 incident.

Police said the woman, an FSU student, suffered bruising near her left eye, swelling of the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose.

Johnson has been charged with misdemeanor battery after the incident at a Tallahassee nightclub about 11:30 p.m. June 24.

My wife keeps bringing up the fact that she is going to be on vacation in a few weeks.  Yesterday I asked, "do you have any plans for your vacation..?"  She responds, "how should I know..?"

Expecting a yes or no answer to my question, or even some thoughts of what she wanted to do on her vacation, I was caught off guard with her response.

I (sort of snapped back) replied, "fine, I really don't care what you do on your vacation."

She feels like I was trying to start an argument, but I though she was the one trying to start some thing with her odd answer.

Now the friction has started.  Don't you love marriage... :)

Just bang her and you'll be fine
Since she has taking the stance that, "how should I know," is a legitimate answer. I've taken it upon myself to also use it.  I now respond to all of her questions with, "how should I know."  So far, it doesn't seem to work for me in the same manner for her...?

June 24.
Soon to be picked up by Auburn, LSU or Mississippi State.

I guess it's easy, just suspend these guys until a video surfaces then dismiss them...unbelievable
Besides, we don't know the whole story.  Maybe she wasn't listening.
But they never listen...

Nice email deal from the sis for a change.
Dear Wendell,

My coworker wouldn't shut up about this Nicaraguan puro and after finally trying one a few weeks ago, it is now one of my new favorites. Highly recommended!

Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Corojo - 10 toros (6"x54) for $49.99 plus free shipping!

From my colleague's very wordy "tobacco journal":

quot;I take special notice when established tobacco growers develop and release their own cigar brand. Who better to decide what tobaccos to use in a blend then the families that personally plant the seeds, tend the fields, and ferment the leaves? These leaves are the true magic behind any exceptional cigar, and this week's selection features some of the finest I've had the pleasure of enjoying.

Obsessed with Aganorsa tobacco since I smoked a now retired cigar called Particulares, I'll remember that night forever. In Nicaragua on a buying trip more than 7 years ago, we had dinner with Eduardo Fernandez - the owner and man in charge of the Aganorsa tobacco organization. The steak was delicious and set the all important base, for the Flor de Cana flowed freely through the four course feast and continued after the table was cleared. The copious amount of rum encouraged the evening's conversation which, of course, was about tobacco. Discussing the industry at large initially, we eventually focused on the subject of a very specific leaf (Aganorsa's proprietary Corojo) blended to make a very special cigar.

Once I lit this puro on the open air restaraunt patio, observing the smoke slowly rise above me towards the stars of a clear Nicaraguan night sky shining bright, I stopped talking. I stopped listening. I stopped thinking. Certainly, you're familiar with the experience. The calm... the peace... the silent reflection seemingly only a cigar, especially an exceptional cigar, can so assuredly provide. A cigar so good, all worry and anxiety dissipates not unlike that smoke slowly rising into the Nicaraguan night sky."

Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf, with it's completely Nicaraguan recipe, received a 92-rating with tasting notes: "Box-pressed and gleaming with oil... has a bit of an uneven, blistery burn. A meaty, cedary flavor core is framed by walnut flavors and tannic notes that lead to a savory finish."

Get these, experience some of the finest tobacco grown on the planet, and have a few nights you'll remember for a lifetime, too.

Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Corojo

It was not clear what the investigation was about. However, two police with dogs were seen entering the home.
In April, Russell Taylor was arrested for three counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of child exploitation and three counts of voyeurism.

The context is our ongoing criticism of the celebrity culture that pervades American society.  Jared Fogle is a minor example of someone who became famous under dubious circumstances and is making a fortune on his own self-exploitation.  Except he wasn't paying attention to business and one of his mouthpieces - the Russell Taylor mentioned in the quote - got caught with contraband material.  Now it appears the authorities are suspicious of Fogle too.  There's your context, Tony.  We're just doing our bit to point out that celebrities are full of shit, whether they are in the entertainment, corporate, or political domain.  We used to joke about politicians that it's easy to tell when they're lying - their lips move.  But the truth is far simpler and far broader: celebrity itself is a lie, and the celebrated are simply confidence artists of low quality.

I am home and it is time for a cigar.  2 brown boxes arrived today with 25 more to find room for.
I have room for plenty.
I managed to work them all in except the bonus turd Famous included, you are welcome to it but does not include FS.

Room 101 HN for me today.  Thanks again, Dave.
Enjoy!  Good cigar for under the radar.
Consider it a celebration cigar.  As of this afternoon, I am a grandfather.
Wow! Congratulations, GrandpaDave.  What's your celebration cigar?
Got an Ashton VSG pulled.
No yard gar for sure, guess you got to smoke two.
May shift to a Fuente Xtra Viejo for #2

I assume the name is Dave?
Nope, Hannah at 3 lbs, Daniel at 3 lbs 6 oz  (not bad, just shy of 31 weeks.)
So you're a grandfather twice.  Lucky you.
Much nicer being a grandfather of two than a father!

There's a reason babies are born to the young.  Billy Joel will find that out soon enough.

Tiny twins.  You're going to have to smoke two primo cigars.  I know that will be tough for you.  ;)
They going to spend some time in the hospital getting stronger?
Yes, all looks good considering size.  Follow a protocol and a number of milestones will have to be met before release.  Rule of thumb is about the original due date, so end of August, early September.

Hopefully this has context Tony can follow.

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (AP) Here are the latest developments in Tuesday's raid at the home of Subway restaurant chain spokesman Jared Fogle (all times are local):

5:15 p.m Central Time
Subway sandwich chain says it's suspending its relationship with Jared Fogle due to an investigation involving the chain's spokesman.

The statement from the company says Fogle continues to cooperate with authorities and that he expects "no actions to be forthcoming." It said both sides agreed suspending the relationship was "the appropriate step to take."

Yep, and the Dems stick together but since 2/3 of the republicans are really Dems we are basically screwed.

Price isn't too bad on them either.  Let me know if you want me to pick them up for you.

Speaking of babies, I just walked past Chelsea Clinton pushing a stroller.
Hope you flipped her off for me.
Not at all.  I've got no beef with her.  Besides, she was one of the few not giving me the stink-eye.
Can't fault her for her parentage.
I can sure fault her for living out of her mother's kickback foundation money now.
Her momma is ugly!
Butt Ugly!!!
Da woman got cankles!
Fine way to talk about your next president...lol
Sheesh!
Shame on you speaking that chit!!!
Republicans are going to fukk it up as they did the last two.

Used to be the Republicans had it together and the Dems would tear themselves apart with all their special interests.

Indeed.  They all pretty much spew bullshit, so you vote for which ever one seems to spew the least.

Sounds delicious, Tony.  You cook and the wife and kids clean up?
Something like that.  :(

Price isn't too bad on them either.  Let me know if you want me to pick them up for you.
That is a solid line, but I'm partial to the SA.  Wish a deal for other than the 60 RG would appear.

It was already deboned dover sole from Trader Joe's.  Kids loved it.  Overall a very successful meal.

Wonder if they were supposed to let the cat out of the bag already.

I know I've had them too but I don't recall the particulars at this moment.  Pretty sure I have at least one in the humi and will have to look for it.

Yea, a number make announcements leading up to the show and many make their first introduction there.
