@ Travellin Dave - They closed all the Pigly Wigley's in the Low Country and I am not sure about other parts of the state. As for Bi-Lo, they are horrible stores. Best grocery in the area is Lowes (owned by the Lowes family of home improvement fame) but they are expensive. Publix is nice but horribly expensive. But together they don't have anywhere near the selection of HEB which was the top ranked grocery in the U.S. last year.

MICHAEL PHELPS RACES SHARK And the Winner Is ..............
THE SHARK WINS!!!
Phelps kicked off Shark Week 2017 on Discovery Channel with a primetime special, "Phelps vs. Shark: Great Gold vs. Great White" after weeks of anticipation for the man-against-beast event. The 100-meter open water "race" took place in Cape Town, South Africa ... but many fans are unhappy about what actually qualified as a race.
Most people thought Phelps didn't stand a chance considering his top swim speed is about 6 mph and great whites can reach speeds up to 25 mph ... but his team helped him even the playing field with a shark skin-like wetsuit and a monofin to emulate a shark's tail.
Turns out ... it didn't matter. Phelps lost the SIMULATED race to a great white shark by 2 seconds.

Today is Monday, July 24, the 205th day of 2017. There are 160 days left in the year.
Today's Highlight in History:
On July 24, 1567, Mary, Queen of Scots was forced to abdicate by Scottish nobles in favor of her infant son James, who became King of Scotland at the age of one.
On this date:
In 1783, Latin American revolutionary Simon Bolivar (see-MOHN' boh-LEE'-vahr) was born in Caracas, Venezuela.
In 1862, Martin Van Buren, the eighth president of the United States, and the first to have been born a U.S. citizen, died at age 79 in Kinderhook, New York, the town where he was born in 1782.
In 1866, Tennessee became the first state to be readmitted to the Union after the Civil War.
In 1915, the SS Eastland, a passenger ship carrying more than 2,500 people, rolled onto its side while docked at the Clark Street Bridge on the Chicago River; an estimated 844 people died in the disaster.
In 1937, the state of Alabama dropped charges against four of the nine young black men accused of raping two white women in the "Scottsboro Case."
In 1952, President Harry S. Truman announced a settlement in a 53-day steel strike. The Gary Cooper western "High Noon" had its U.S. premiere in New York.
In 1959, during a visit to Moscow, Vice President Richard Nixon engaged in his famous "Kitchen Debate" with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.
In 1967, French President Charles de Gaulle stirred controversy during a visit to Montreal, Canada, when he declared, "Vive le Quebec libre!" (Long live free Quebec!)
In 1974, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that President Richard Nixon had to turn over subpoenaed White House tape recordings to the Watergate special prosecutor.
In 1987, Hulda Crooks, a 91-year-old mountaineer from California, became the oldest woman to conquer Mount Fuji, Japan's highest peak.
In 1998, a gunman burst into the U.S. Capitol, killing two police officers before being shot and captured. (The shooter, Russell Eugene Weston Jr., is being held in a federal mental facility.)
In 2002, nine coal miners became trapped in a flooded tunnel of the Quecreek (KYOO'-kreek) Mine in western Pennsylvania; the story ended happily 77 hours later with the rescue of all nine.

Ten years ago: President George W. Bush, speaking at Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina, sought to justify the Iraq war by citing intelligence reports he said showed a link between al-Qaida's operation in Iraq and the terror group that attacked the United States on September 11, 2001. A grand jury in New Orleans refused to indict Dr. Anna Pou (poh), who was accused of murdering four seriously ill hospital patients with drug injections during the desperate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor, sentenced to life in prison in Libya for allegedly infecting children with HIV, were released after 8½ years behind bars. The U.S. minimum wage rose 70 cents to $5.85 an hour, the first increase in a decade.
Five years ago: In his first foreign policy speech since emerging as the likely Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney called for an independent investigation into claims the White House had leaked national security information for President Barack Obama's political gain; the White House replied that the president "has made abundantly clear that he has no tolerance for leaks." Actor Chad Everett died in Los Angeles at age 75. Actor Sherman Hemsley died in El Paso, Texas, at age 74.
One year ago: Thousands of demonstrators took to Philadelphia's sweltering streets, cheering, chanting and beating drums in the first major protests ahead of the Democratic National Convention. Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. British rider Chris Froome celebrated his third Tour de France title in four years. Hollywood "ghost singer" Marni Nixon, 86, died in New York.

Microchipping employees? What could go wrong...? Yea, easy access to the building and charge capabilities, but also 24-7 tracking, I don't think so.

Your answer is first line of second full paragraph. "Three Square Market, a company that provides technology for break-room or micro markets...". They are marketing their business. ""It's the next thing that's inevitably going to happen, and we want to be a part of it," Three Square Market Chief Executive Officer Todd Westby told the station." Translation: We want to sell a schittload of it.

What happens when your HR department wants to chip you Bean? All those cigar lounges and bars for company meetings, half hour bathroom breaks, if you ever try to sneak out to the warehouse for a smoke...worse yet, what happens if someone gives the warden access?

@ Travellin Dave - They closed all the Pigly Wigley's in the Low Country and I am not sure about other parts of the state. As for Bi-Lo, they are horrible stores. Best grocery in the area is Lowes (owned by the Lowes family of home improvement fame) but they are expensive. Publix is nice but horribly expensive. But together they don't have anywhere near the selection of HEB which was the top ranked grocery in the U.S. last year.
when we were in the Orlando area, we found Publix to be value priced. That is compared to the grocery stores closer to Disney and the time shares. I prefer ShopRite here in Bergen County, however people lined up outside of a Wegmans before it opened in the NJ shore area recently.

when we were in the Orlando area, we found Publix to be value priced. That is compared to the grocery stores closer to Disney and the time shares. I prefer ShopRite here in Bergen County, however people lined up outside of a Wegmans before it opened in the NJ shore area recently.
oops, it was Bergen County! http://www.nj.com/morris/index.ssf/2017/07/huge_crowds_as_wegmans_opens_new_store_in_hanover.html (http://www.nj.com/morris/index.ssf/2017/07/huge_crowds_as_wegmans_opens_new_store_in_hanover.html)
Sorta like when the first In-N-Out opened here. You'd think folks had never seen a hamburger. Probably all the fk'n Californians missing the motherland.
Yea, but those animal style burgers are mighty tasty.
Especially compared to the Vegetable or Mineral burgers(well it has to be one of the three!).
-
speaking of burgers, stuffed mushroom cedar burgers on the grill with mushroom gravy from last night, no bun.

I like my cigars with a cedar influence....I don't know about my burgers.... ;)

@ Travellin Dave - They closed all the Pigly Wigley's in the Low Country and I am not sure about other parts of the state. As for Bi-Lo, they are horrible stores. Chicken strips and fries from chicken express.
Man says they will get it all on this truck, hope he is correct!
-
I never heard of a cedar burger or anything else cedar other than cedar plank salmon which is good so Dean may be on to something there.

Nothing that a couple of bungee cords and a roof rack can't cover...

Not familiar with that one. Is that your version of a never frozen/hand pressed family style local chain?

Can't imagine a burger would cook the same way on a cedar plank.
I'm betting that he actually wanted to type cheddar but got his burger and cigar posting confused.

Maybe he's just trying to make sure his burger stays at the optimal humidity level? :)

Popular Local grease burger got several places around town. Not crazy about them myself but good value for free.

It is a very good but not great burger. And free is the way to go with burgers, shipping, and Bernie Sanders.

Time to start the trek home, BBL.
-
Finally went on the first long ride on the "new" motorcycle. Left Enumclaw last Thursday morning 7am. Stayed in Missoula, MT that night. Covered Lolo pass to Lewiston, ID and over the Rattlesnake Grade and along Joseph Canyon to Enterprise, OR Friday night. Then up to La Grande and Pendleton. Stopped at Bike Week in Pendleton to check out the freak show for a couple hours, then on to Yakima and home by 7:10 on Saturday night. 1170 miles or so, through three states. Bike performed flawlessly.

Truck is loaded to the hilt, got 3 small tables, 3 side chairs, a Nordic Trac and a few boxes left over to deal with.

Have Bean watch them until you can arrange transport.

Maybe he can take the Nordic Trac down to the shop so HR can claim they have a company gym.

That rain shower cooled things off nicely. Rolled my schitt out into the shop and enjoyed a MoW LD. Dang, I miss doing that. Going to have to discuss the cigars at work thing with that HR bastard.

Good luck with that. Probably a transplanted Cali Commie.

Dad got back from Havana on Saturday while I was out motorcycling. He brought me some very nice Partagas coronas, and was amazed that so many folks in Cuba smoked coronas. I said, "uh...Dad, that's the traditionally popular vitola in Cuba. It's just Americans that have this size thing. Why do you think I have so many smaller cigars in my humidor?"

All moved in to the Hom2Suites no free beer here :(

Warden uses it because it is easy on her knee. I use it some in the winter when the weather is nasty and I don't want to go out and walk.

Completely agree. Similarly, my wife joined a gym a couple of months ago... Ask me how many times she's been there, including picking up her ID card.

Boom! That was the problem with the universal gym I bought for the old shop, mostly ignored. One thing's for sure, exercise equipment makes for one well paved road to hell.

Nah, it's just a well-paved road to wasting money. No one ever went to hell for neglecting their physical fitness.

Ha, no kidding. Too recently retired to stay up past 8 pm. He'll probably keep that schedule, the fish don't sleep in, either.
