Today is Thursday, June 15, the 166th day of 2017. There are 199 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On June 15, 1775, the Second Continental Congress voted unanimously to appoint George Washington head of the Continental Army.

On this date:

In 1215, England's King John put his seal to Magna Carta ("the Great Charter") at Runnymede.

In 1520, Pope Leo X issued a papal bull in which he threatened to excommunicate Martin Luther if he did not recant his religious beliefs, a threat that was carried out the following January.

In 1836, Arkansas became the 25th state.

In 1849, James Polk, the 11th president of the United States, died in Nashville, Tennessee.

In 1904, more than 1,000 people died when fire erupted aboard the steamboat General Slocum in New York's East River.

In 1934, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an act making the National Guard part of the U.S. Army in the event of war or national emergency.

In 1944, American forces began their successful invasion of Saipan (sy-PAN') during World War II. B-29 Superfortresses carried out their first raids on Japan.

In 1955, the United States and Britain signed a cooperation agreement concerning atomic information for "mutual defence purposes."

In 1967, the war film "The Dirty Dozen" was released by MGM.

In 1977, Spain held its first free elections in four decades; the Union of the Democratic Center won the highest number of seats in the Congress of Deputies.

In 1985, the Shiite Muslim hijackers of a TWA Boeing 727 beat and shot one of their hostages, U.S. Navy diver Robert Stethem (STEE'-them), 23, throwing him out of the plane to die on the tarmac at Beirut airport.

In 1992, during a visit to an elementary school in Trenton, New Jersey, Vice President Dan Quayle, relying on a faulty flash card, erroneously instructed sixth-grader William Figueroa to write "potato" as "potatoe" on a blackboard during a spelling quiz.

Ten years ago: During his ethics trial, a tearful Mike Nifong announced he would resign as district attorney of Durham County, North Carolina, after admitting that he'd made improper statements about three Duke University lacrosse players who were once charged with raping a stripper. (The players were later declared innocent by state prosecutors.) Retired "Price Is Right" host Bob Barker won his 19th Daytime Emmy. In Tulsa, Oklahoma, a crane lifted out a water-damaged 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that had been buried in an underground concrete vault half a century earlier to celebrate 50 years of statehood.

Five years ago: President Barack Obama eased enforcement of immigration laws as he announced a new policy, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. Republican Mitt Romney launched the next phase of his presidential campaign, kicking off a six-state, small-town bus tour and telling middle-class Americans that President Obama hadn't given them "a fair shot." An armored car heist at the University of Alberta in Canada left three armed guards dead; fellow guard Travis Baumgartner later pleaded guilty to murder charges and was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 40 years. Daredevil Nik Wallenda became the first person to walk a tightrope across Niagara Falls. (The feat was broadcast live by ABC-TV, which required Wallenda to wear a safety tether.)

One year ago: The interim police chief in Oakland, California, Ben Fairow, was abruptly removed after six days on the job by Mayor Libby Schaaf, who said she had lost confidence in Fairow's ability to lead the department amid a widening sex scandal in which a number of officers allegedly had sex with a teenage prostitute. A public funeral was held in Detroit for hockey legend Gordie Howe, who had died five days earlier at age 88.

For the black label:
The blend is an all Nicaraguan powerhouse that uses a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and fillers, the cigar is medium-full to full in body that delivers rich tobacco flavors.

For the connie:
The blend uses tobacco from three countries, the wrapper is a Connecticut shade, fillers are all Dominican held together with Mexican binder. This blend is a lighter version of the original Pay Back powerhouse.

Why would you go back home after staying there? One of those decks needs to be reserved for smoking only.

Looks fairly incredible.
Road trip?  Flash Herf maybe?
It'll be a wonderful surprise for him and the family.
Indeed, they would be very excited to have additional visitors I'm sure. Especially when we show up with cigars but no additional food or booze.

If memory serves, that looks very similar to the last one.

Certainly some similarities but also some differences. Pool is much closer to the house, bottom floor is finished and you have the bar area by the pool. Extra BR/Baths

On the Crowned Heads spectrum, that's correct.  Solid smoke, but not near the flavors, spice  or complexity of many of the others.

Yeah, this was kind of a first because #1 Son sat in most of the evening. Didn't have a cigar, but had a little of the whiskey. So that was nice.

Nope, decided wasn't going to do that.  Cigar smoking is more enjoyable in a relaxed mode vs working anyway, so just occasionally out here works.

It does, and the nic hit helps in the afternoon, but unless I'm working on something easy and low stress I start to ignore the cigar and just smoke it, which doesn't seem right, either.

Not necessarily.  I tend to have my cigars separated on just that criteria.  Those that I will only smoke when I can give them full attention and those that that are decent but dont necessarily need full attention (ie yard gars).

Agree to an extent.  I would never light up a premium nuanced cigar while working or even reading the newspaper, but don't smoke too many yard gars, so I think my approach is better, so GFY.  (Thursday is the new Tuesday).

TMI
no it's not. wet saggy bottom granny panties and and old lady breasts to their knees is TMI.
I'm sure you don't want a rack report from here.
Uh, that's a definite NO!
saggy bottom granny panties have a way of coming off by themselves.

.....and then there's the 'landscaping' situation to deal with.
.....and Backwoods Off is the popular perfume.

Afternoon men.  In the shop in front of the OH door with fans going smoking an NR.  Hot out, but this is tolerable.
Afternoon Bean, you can't smoke in the new office?
Nope, decided wasn't going to do that.  Cigar smoking is more enjoyable in a relaxed mode vs working anyway, so just occasionally out here works.
But doesn't cigar smoking help initiate a relaxed mood?
It does, and the nic hit helps in the afternoon, but unless I'm working on something easy and low stress I start to ignore the cigar and just smoke it, which doesn't seem right, either.
Not necessarily.  I tend to have my cigars separated on just that criteria.  Those that I will only smoke when I can give them full attention and those that that are decent but dont necessarily need full attention (ie yard gars).

See what missing an afternoon stogie does to you....you didn't used to be this cranky in the afternoon.

My, that new smoking routine might not be working so well.  You hit Travellin Dave pretty quick with that GFY

Maybe he is revising the house plans, that always makes him a bit touchy regardless of the time of day.

Maybe Bean should try this an relieve some steam pressure.

Teen accused of shooting cyclist with shotgun was ‘blowing off steam’

A man who only knew the suspect four months told police he was ‘blowing off steam’ after assaulting his girlfriend
