It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Ten years ago: President George W. Bush, visiting Wall Street, delivered his "State of the Economy" speech in which he took aim at lavish salaries and bonuses for corporate executives, saying their pay should be tied to how much they helped their companies' shareholders. Delaware Sen. Joe Biden formally launched his second bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Some three dozen blinking electronic devices planted around Boston threw a scare into the city in what turned out to be a marketing campaign for the Cartoon Network TV show "Aqua Teen Hunger Force." Best-selling author and columnist Molly Ivins died in Austin, Texas, at age 62.

Five years ago: Republican Mitt Romney routed Newt Gingrich in the Florida primary, rebounding from an earlier defeat. The breast-cancer charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure set off a furor by deciding to halt its partnerships with Planned Parenthood affiliates (Komen reversed itself three days later). Retired Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua (beh-vih-LAH'-kwuh), who led the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia for more than 15 years, died at age 88.

One year ago: A triple bombing killed at least 45 people in a predominantly Shiite Muslim suburb south of the Syrian capital. Israel's Cabinet voted to allow non-Orthodox Jewish prayer at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, marking a historic show of support for liberal streams of Judaism. Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich) maintained his perfect streak in six Australian Open finals with a 6-1, 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory over Andy Murray. Team Irvin won a 49-27 victory over Team Rice in the NFL Pro Bowl. "Grease Live" aired on Fox television.

Morning Delusional Irresponsible Mayor, Fish, FlatTireGolf, #2Dave, and Bean

Running a bit late today, first time in at least 10 years I hit the alarm button and went back to sleep.  Warden sent me a go-to-hell text because Ii did not tell here bye but hell I don't even remember if I did nor not.  Oh well like that is a first but usually I do it on purpose I guess is the only difference.

  Must need to retire!

At least it's right in the meat of the tire, so they'll be able to patch it, instead of having to get a new one. Got the full size spare on, gonna head out in a bit to get it fixed. Waiting for a bit to give the road crews a chance to clear them off. Second snow day in a row for the kids.

On-time matters not to me but I have to get the warden awake and going on time, big deal at her place now since the giant corporation took it over.   And to put the takeover in perspective yesterday they had 8 hours of driver training and today every employee has to take an on-the-road driving test in order to travel for the company.  For her and 80% of the others that amounts to driving to Houston one or at most two times a year.......

Soon he'll be opening the White Whale Muslim Illegals Sanctuary Inn
Updated it for you.
Does that mean my federal funding will be cut off?  I rely on that to pay my illegal housekeepers and grounds crew.
Not as long as your housekeepers and grounds crew aren't blowing up or running over people.
But they're going to have to return to their side of the wall anyway.

Ha! Yep. Morning, Dave. I'm usually on before 7. Not enough, I suppose.

Oh well. It's probably just as well. The big humi is getting pretty stuffed (I know, I can tuperdor, but I'm using this as an excuse). Also, I'm still finding things I like. Had an El Triunfador last night for the first time, courtesy of TexRed. One of my faves in the medium range so far, I'd say.

Those were sold out when the Mash opened at 10:00 my time, you would have had to catch them when they passed by on the hourly deals whenever that might have been.

Seems that happens frequently on the monster. I do check it from time to time during the day, but it's pretty impossible to keep up with if you have things going on. I imagine when there are really good deals they probably don't allot much inventory anyways. I suspect they just throw a couple up there to keep the monster looking juicy.

There has proven to be no rhyme nor reason to what they do.  Those same G's may well show up tomorrow or the next day @ $10 more.

But I have noticed lately it seams like the higher quality cigars tend to be on the bottom 2 or maybe 3 rows of a Mash.

i managed to finally win some of the new Bueso cigars, but to do it I had to buy
the sampler with the older two vitolas:
The Ramon Bueso Intro Taster includes:
2 - Ramon Bueso Genesis The Project Robusto (5" x 50)
2 - Ramon Bueso Olancho Vintage Robusto (5" x 50)
2 - Ramon Bueso Genesis Habano Robusto (5" x 50)
think I might have an Oydessy in one of the humidors.

Good morning Dave, Dave and Rick. Effing Tuesday, AmIRight?
Right you are, sir.
Refresh my memory golf, when do we get the house reserved?
Yea, not good if we have no place to take the pork roll.  Even though Tony is talking Saturday now, Friday looks to be the day of choice for us.
I wish I could do Friday. Just think it would be irresponsible to do so.
And your point being?  OK wait, I have never gone, so I should
just shut up right!  8)
There is still time to preregister. If you want to ride with Charlie and me, you're more than welcome. Basically, you'll be out of the house by 10:am and return around midnight. Just offerin'.
"Out of the house by 10:00" - in other words you will be sitting on the curb in front of your house until after lunch waiting on them to pick you up.
But when I get there, I'll have a Taylor ham, egg & cheese samich and a coffee for ya. Plus smoking is permitted in my car.
Or you can wait until a little later and get some real Pork Roll Bro.  AND we don't need to register as we're just going to Dave's Herfin' Hotel...or is it the Cigar Chalet?
Either way. The point is I'm offering passage to the Poconos on Saturday.

good afternoon Tuesday BOTL. back from submitting my finances with the medical center. got my monthly income adjusted to under $800 a month to qualify for cheap medical bills. referral agency found a surgeon who'll see me but I have to agree on paying the bill in full at time of appointment or wait until April 1. calling a teaching hospital in Gainesville to see what they can do or suggest. had to call the billing department at the ER when I saw the bill for $800 with a doctor's name as provider of service. never saw a doctor. agreed to a 50% uninsured discount if paid by 2/15/17. just mailed the check with details of visit.
picked up a job for the other maintenance lady. replace two porch posts, stair stringers and hand rail, jack, level, and square her porch, repair/replace railing as needed, repair and caulk facia corners. all after the driveway job whenever concrete bag order comes in.

Partagas Red robusto and fruit punch Gatorade going.
68°, sunny and a light breeze.
Life is Good. golf day tomorrow. hoping to get laid tonight. with who is still to be determined.

she's trying to piss off the earlier renters here so they'll leave. Duke Energy is bringing a workforce of 600 for at least 2 years. they make huge money and are renting here at $425-$450 per week per person per unit. so they are getting $1,700 - $3,000 a month. being winter with all the snowbirds booking everything it's easy money, illegal as all hell, but what choice do they have?

thanks, but if i ever decide to go, I want to get there before sundown.
Oh in that case, GFY.
I can't help it, when i see all the "I thought Tony was coming to Cigarfest posts" well into the afternoon.
I think Tony is just a little sensitive today, that time of the month or something I guess.
I'm always sensitive.

good afternoon Tuesday BOTL. back from submitting my finances with the medical center. got my monthly income adjusted to under $800 a month to qualify for cheap medical bills. referral agency found a surgeon who'll see me but I have to agree on paying the bill in full at time of appointment or wait until April 1. calling a teaching hospital in Gainesville to see what they can do or suggest. had to call the billing department at the ER when I saw the bill for $800 with a doctor's name as provider of service. never saw a doctor. agreed to a 50% uninsured discount if paid by 2/15/17. just mailed the check with details of visit.
picked up a job for the other maintenance lady. replace two porch posts, stair stringers and hand rail, jack, level, and square her porch, repair/replace railing as needed, repair and caulk facia corners. all after the driveway job whenever concrete bag order comes in.

Partagas Red robusto and fruit punch Gatorade going.
68°, sunny and a light breeze.
Life is Good. golf day tomorrow. hoping to get laid tonight. with who is still to be determined.
Good afternoon Dean.  not sure I'm ready to retire after reading this.  looks like too much work for me.   :o

hi Sam. just puttering around in the park doing odd jobs. helps take care of medical expenses until April, and I get closer the the maintenance lady.
Ahh, ok, I can see how the fringe bennies can make it more attractive.

And that my friends is a 21 day story in one post!

Afternoon Dean.

afternoon Dave. busy and productive day. forgot to add a $50 a month rent increase starting in March. 😞
Damn, that's pretty steep. I thought Increases were generally no more than 3% per year.
she's trying to piss off the earlier renters here so they'll leave.
Are those units considered rent controlled in your township?
nope. monthly rentals only. no lease.
The women or the trailers?
both.

I sure as hell don't have a positive overall image of the fuk'n patriots!

America wants the New England Patriots to lose the Super Bowl, a new poll reveals.

Here are the highlights from a survey conducted by Public Policy Polling:

•53 percent of football fans polled want the Atlanta Falcons to win, compared to 27 percent who are rooting for the Patriots.
•55 percent have a very positive overall image of the Falcons, while 19 percent view them unfavorably.
•43 percent have a very positive overall image of the Patriots, while 42 percent view them unfavorably.
•21 percent of fans say the Patriots are their least favorite team, while the Dallas Cowboys came in second with 19 percent.
•52 percent of fans believe the Patriots will win on Sunday, compared to only 36 percent who say the Falcons will.
•45 percent of fans say Lady Gaga is a good choice for the halftime show, compared to 37 percent who say she is a bad one.

Speaking of cigars, last night MacGuyver and the Bidness Partner came over and we tried out the Laranja Reserva Toro and the Room 101 HN's. Both cigars had about a week of rest in the humidor since delivery. Both excellent cigars, but the surprise was I liked the HN better. I kinda assumed from the raves here that the Laranja would be the superior cigar. But on first impressions, I preferred the HN.

No argument with that.  I enjoy the HN a lot, solid and fairly uniform throughout.  The Laranja starts out OK,but comes into its own in the second half and to me has a more enjoyable flavor profile.  Bottom line, if you enjoyed either, it's  a win.   Especially with you having stocked up on the HN's.

I have. IIRC they were the Cohiba knockoffs. They were smokable. Didn't taste like Cohibas to me, but did their own thing reasonably. I think there are better options to be had if you're willing to work at it. But for $2/stick they're tolerable.

I was considering the Montes. Something mild-med. I think I saw them around 2 bucks in the last day or so.

Different flavor, but if we can scrounge things like Vs for 3.40 there must be  decent mild stuff to be had in the 2-3$ range, like you said, if I work at it. :)

Exactly. Perhaps my biggest cigar order was the Omar Ortez Originals crate (60) and the Nica Rusticas crate (50). With a free shipping special and a 10% off coupon and the sale prices on the cigars, it came out to an unweighted per stick price of $2.86, IIRC.  End of November there was a deal on the Daruma Gold Roxxos for like $60 a box. But I had gotten some coupon for $50, and there was a promo code that got a discount, and I ended up getting two boxes for the price of one.  Just have to be prepared to jump on things as soon as someone here - usually Tex, Fish, or Travelin Dave - mentions something. And you have to remember what coupon codes you have. And it sometimes means you end up spending $550 in a month because you have to buy when the deals are there.  Those are the tradeoffs.

Funny, I'm a huge Room 101 fan and have smoked 3 HN's and just don't care for them. The Laranjas for me start good and build, finish with a much higher ceiling than a lot of cigars. Not sure why the start is so-so
