It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Speaking of Nica Rusticas, they're behind cigar.com's door #3.

Just the Vs today. Too much uncertainty. And I gotta try to keep the spending somewhat in check. Still on the lookout for the Oliva Connecticut Reserve petite corona deal to come up, and Tim at c.com suggested a few things to me. About that; any thoughts on these?:

La Aurora 1495 corona
San Cristobol Elegancia robusto
Room 101 HN pc
Cusano Magnum corona (cheap cheap and suggested for a decent knock-around/throw-half-away-er)

(Also, checkout confirmed $77.17 on the Nica Rustics. $92.98*(17% off=100-17-83%)=$77.17/25=$3.086 ea....not that it matters now)

I don't smoke often enough to waste money on knock-around sticks. Life is too short. Of the cigars you mentioned, the Elegancia is very good. Next, the HN. Otherwise I'm not interested.

Good to know. Contemplating the HN pc as most likely. Not sure, though. I like the size time-wise. The LMII are just OK to me, though...

I've had the 1495 in a robusto and liked it a lot. The Nub Cameroon is one of the best Cammies out there, along with the Oliva G special figurado, and an H. Upmann cedar wrapped Cameroon. Night guys.

Today is Tuesday, Jan. 24, the 24th day of 2017. There are 341 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Jan. 24, 1942, the Roberts Commission placed much of the blame for America's lack of preparedness for Imperial Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor on Rear Adm. Husband E. Kimmel and Lt. Gen. Walter C. Short, the Navy and Army commanders.

On this date:

In 1742, Charles VII was elected Holy Roman Emperor during the War of the Austrian Succession.

In 1848, James W. Marshall discovered a gold nugget at Sutter's Mill in northern California, a discovery that led to the gold rush of '49.

In 1908, the Boy Scouts movement began in England under the aegis of Robert Baden-Powell.

In 1924, the Russian city of Petrograd (formerly St. Petersburg) was renamed Leningrad in honor of the late revolutionary leader. (However, it has since been renamed St. Petersburg.)

In 1939, at least 28,000 people were killed by an earthquake that devastated the city of Chillan in Chile.

In 1945, Associated Press war correspondent Joseph Morton was among a group of captives executed by the Germans at the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp in Austria.

In 1961, a U.S. Air Force B-52 crashed near Goldsboro, North Carolina, dropping its payload of two nuclear bombs, neither of which went off; three crew members were killed.

In 1963, a U.S. Air Force B-52 on a training mission crashed into Elephant Mountain in Maine; seven of the nine crew members were killed.

In 1965, British statesman Winston Churchill died in London at age 90.

In 1975, the extremist group FALN bombed Fraunces Tavern in New York City, killing four people.

In 1989, confessed serial killer Theodore Bundy was executed in Florida's electric chair.

In 1992, a judge in El Salvador sentenced an army colonel and a lieutenant to 30 years in prison for their part in the 1989 massacre of six Jesuit priests, their housekeeper and her daughter. (However, Col. Guillermo Alfredo Benavides and Lt. Yusshy Mendoza were freed in April 1993 under an amnesty law.)

Ten years ago: The Democratic-controlled Senate Foreign Relations Committee passed a nonbinding measure, 12-9, dismissing President George W. Bush's plans for a troop buildup in Iraq as "not in the national interest" of the United States. Colorado's Joe Sakic (SAK'-ihk) had four assists to lead the Western Conference to a 12-9 victory in the NHL All-Star game.

Five years ago: Declaring the American dream under siege, President Barack Obama used his State of the Union address to deliver a populist challenge to shrink the gap between rich and poor, promising to tax the wealthy more and help jobless Americans get work and hang onto their homes. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney released his 2010 tax returns, showing that his annual income topped $20 million and that he had paid about $3 million in federal income taxes.

One year ago: A magnitude-7.1 quake knocked items off shelves and walls in Alaska, jolting the nerves of residents in the earthquake-prone region. The Denver Broncos defeated the New England Patriots, 20-18, to win the AFC Championship; the Carolina Panthers claimed the NFC Championship with a 49-15 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Adam Rippon won his first U.S. figure skating title at the championship in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Edit: I thought I heard that cigarettes are no longer used for barter because they're so unpopular. Now they trade clean urine.

You should be underqualified for a new position.  If you know how to do it all already, you're going to be bored walking in to it.

So you're saying LTG lacks incompetence.
"The Peter Principle is an observation that the tendency in most organizational hierarchies, such as that of a corporation, is for every employee to rise in the hierarchy through promotion until they reach the levels of their respective incompetence. The Peter Principle is based on the logical idea that competent employees will continue to be promoted, but at some point will be promoted into positions for which they are incompetent, and they will then remain in those positions because of the fact that they do not demonstrate any further competence that would get them recognized for additional promotion. According to the Peter Principle, every position in a given hierarchy will eventually be filled by employees who are incompetent to fulfill the job duties of their respective positions."

I wouldn't mind being underqualified for it, because it's a totally different department, so it's not like I'll be bored going in, cause it's a completely different job. Plus, it gets me away from the damn performance-based scheduling nightmare. That alone is worth the switch.

Cool looking new Tat ashtray. I mean, it's not made of wood or anything, but still.

Looks like Melamine.
Hate to think that Shaun is missing out.

Shaun probably got one of the 1st 100 ever made via the S&S club benefits with a numbered certificate of authenticity from Pete himself.  8)
Hand delivered by Pete's smokin' hot wife.
One of the real benefits of attending Cfest.....and MoW girls usually not to shabby either.

I thought you liked them a "little" shabby... haha

good morning guys. got to dig the waste line up from house to septic tank for the lady to check for crushed/separated pipe. toilet is plugged. plumber snaked it Friday but plugged again. plumber coming back this afternoon. figure if I expose the pipe it'll save some money.
Morning, DiggingForShitDean.
LALTS.  Dean and the schitt he gets himself into.
hopefully no shit, just want to expose the pipe. septic and leach field are good according to DEC inspection prior to construction. complained to the HUD manager about a few issues. house isn't a year old. not his problem. talking to the mayor and town board Thursday. they have started a new HUD grant for the year and I want everyone to know what to expect.
Well, you are using a shovel in the vicinity of a septic field.  I recommend you go back to gazebos and driveways.
Should have just rented a backhoe?
nope. not the pipe. no water flow between the toilet and cleanout.

Youngins' around? Stuffed toy go for a voyage to China... a dirty sock... feminine hygiene product... condoms...  ;)
no kids. 2 women and a guy. single ply tp. who knows what's been flushed. got it unplugged for now. going to pull the toilet and have a new one ready in case.

Time to get some lunch.

I have a ham and swiss sangwich... speaking of which, I hope Tony didn't hurt himself with that bit of "running" he was doing.
Actually had a pretty productive day (note: NOT reproductive). Even smoked a new to me cigar. The CLE Chele y Prensado. Liked it a lot. Stronger than typical connie. It was a pepper bomb for the first inch, which I enjoyed. Then there were a lot of bready flavors, which was also very good since I've been cutting the carbs.

Tacos are supposed to be made with beef tongue, you just so rarely find any taquerias norte de la linea that serve it...Because gringos  are stupid. They'll pay a premium to eat muscle tissue carved from the ribcage of a cow behind the shoulder, but tongue creeps them out. Sausage? No problem. Hot dogs? Bring 'em. Tongue? Ick. No sabe lo que es bueno.
