Have a question for TexasDave or TexasBean....Tin roofs that are popular in Texas and the South.....with the impressive hailstorms you get.....wouldn't the house under that roof sound like the end of the world....and wouldn't those roofs (or even asphalt shingle types) be all beat to shit after a couple of storms (like my rental car was after one...?
Metal bldg roofs (ie standing seam) are much heavier gauge metal vs your car, and made of steel.  There is an underpayment of insulation board which provides both thermal and sound insulation, so a hail storm is of no consequence.  In fact, metal roofs stand up much better to the elements in these part vs asphalt.  The down side is $$.
Don't confuse corrugated metal roofs with standing seam roofs, sheesh...no wonder the crown's not done yet
Where do see any mention by anyone of corrugated metal roofs?  Sheesh.

Even Scott would approve of that one.
He would not be allowed to purchase them.

You mistakenly categorized metal building roofs as standing seem, I'm merely providing a correction to a gross generalization

Pretty sure Dave was asking about bldgs suitable for human occupancy.  Corrugated roofs are put on horse barns and storage sheds, though perhaps in NJ there is little distinction between the two.
