Afternoon, TR.  BTW, DC has some of the toughest, most restrictive guns laws in the nation.
Best place for a criminal to operate!

Hola, Sly. A belated happy Easter to you.
Hey Tony, thank you.  I did see your first post, understanding that you were referring to one of the last posts of yesterday/Easter Sunday.
I hope you tell your friend, that this is an extremely unusual event ... other than the parts of the city that are crime-ridden like every other big city has,
one just takes the normal precautions that one would take in visiting any tourist areas of any place in the world or U.S.
There is a press conference by Capitol Police at 4:30pm.  Local news channels say there was supposed to be a drill up there this morning, so there's
still confusion over whether this was part of the drill or totally unconnected.

And Good Easter Monday to you also Flip!  Sorry!!!!
that's OK Sam, my diet is working, this morning I weighed 165 lbs.  down about
30 lbs in a month.  Wife is upset, she hates it when I start looking good.  According to her
I look "deflated".
Well then, it's no wonder I didn't see you at first.
I heard a deflating ballon sound…
Balloons as well.
Magnificent balloons, TD. 8)

The cherry blossoms peaked over the weekend, early this year, so, if they haven't been blown away by
today and tomorrow's forecasted heavy winds, it should be a treat to come down for a visit & tours.
I went down midday on Thursday, and got within sight of the Tidal Basin where the largest concentration of cherry trees are,
I was on 17th St. with the Washington Monument (and grounds) on my left and the WWII Memorial on my right ... it was kind
of exciting with all the crowds there, and the blossoms in full bloom, but the traffic going around the Tidal Basin was so heavy
I decided that I had seen enough, and drank in the atmosphere fully, that I could go right (on the way back to Virginia) instead
of left into the heavy traffic inching its way around.  The best time to go is at night or early in the morning, to find a parking spot close enough to walk under the blossoming trees around the Tidal Basin, unless someone can
drop the group off, or they go by Metro train to the area.  It's certainly something to be enjoyed when possible.

Sheesh!

The logic of fear.

It was fine to go there yesterday, today there's a shooting, so there might be another one on Thursday.

A bad guy shoots at someone, so we'll pile on some more laws, because that has worked so well on everything else we've tried to legislate out of existence.

Stay calm, seems to be an isolated incident.
