After 4 months in the humidor, I decided to try a La Gloria Gilded Age Toro.  After removing the cellophane it's smell brought back memories my grandfather.  When ever he would open a new package of twisted chewing tobacco, he would smell it like the pre-light of a cigar and also allow me to smell it too.  Strange how I never thought about him doing that for over 50 years.  I would say it had a draw just a little tighter than medium.  First, I personally (not the cigar), can not pick out allot of subtle flavors. To me the first third had a mild to medium core tobacco flavor with a hint of sweetness.  Razor sharp burn, and the ash stayed on at a little over 2 inchs as I let it go out.  I didn't realize it, but this is a long smoking cigar.  It took me around 1 hour and 10 minutes and I didn't quite make it to the end of the first third.  I feel guilty that I didn't finish it, but 1 hour and 10 to 15 minutes and I'm about smoked out.  I wish I could have smoked more of it to see if there were any changes.  On a scale of 1(bad) - 5(buy a box), I'd give this a 3 1/2 (if some one gave me this cigar, I would not turn it down).  I may try and smoke the rest of it later today, but who knows how that will turn out..?  What I got out of this is, "I would like to try a different La Gloria and see how that goes.

Morning Gilded Age Dad.

FYI, I like a lot of LGC cigars but that one is not at the top of my list.  R Serie and the N along with the Wavell are good smokes.

A little trivia from the good ol' days, the first true premium cigar I ever smoked was a Miami Rolled LGC that I bought at the old Miami (Little Havana)  Shop when they actually produced cigars there.  I believe it was a Maduro CHARLEMAGNE double corona.  Also Had my first Cuban Sandwich right around the corner after visiting a few cigar shops.  CHARLEMAGNE Is still a good smoke.

Before then it was grocery store cigars.

My 1st grade granddaughter was sent to the principal's office.  On St. Patrick's Day, the class was asked to wright a short essay on, "If I got the leprechaun's pot of gold, what would you do with it..?" She said, "She would give part of it to hungry people, part of it to poor people, and the rest to charity."  The principal took her to his office and made copies of her essay, and they went to all the other classes and gave one to the teachers. My granddaughter said, "I don't understand, I was the only one in the whole school that did say, I would keep the money for myself or buy things for myself...?"

Now that I've figured out how to consolidate my shipping at Famous Smoke Auction, I can grab singles to try rather then buying a whole 5 pack as I did in the past.  I believe the Gilded Age was the only La Gloria offered during my time limit. And I think I may have been influenced by the Gilded Age and from watching American Horror which is now set in a 1920's style hotel.  What can I say, "silly stuff like that influences me..."
