I don't know if it's just me, but the days DO NOT seem to be getting longer since December 21st. I recognize that it's a slow process, but this year seems much slower than normal.

First day of the final semester for the oldest, who will get her Associate's in May. Then it's off to dad's almamater for her Bachelor's in video game design in the fall.

I was actually impressed the other day when I realized it was 5:30 and there was still some light out. So it's coming slowly, but it IS coming. Thank friggin' god.

I guess I haven't noticed during the later part of the day. It just seems so dark in the mornings.

Now here's a stat from last night's LA/NE game - from 1:11 left in the 2nd quarter until 5:39 left in the 4th, the Chargers didn't record any passing yards.

CI One day deal:

Alec Bradley Puck & White Gold

Boxes as low as $34.99 - Starting at $1.75 per cigar!
Hell has frozen over. Pigs are flying. Grapes ripen before your eyes. 20-count boxes of Alec Bradley Cigars start at just $34.99! Oh yes, one of my finest deals returns for a limited time and I’m serving up chunky savings on boxes of Alec Bradley's uber-popular White Gold and its trusty side kick, Puck. Grab as many as you can for as little as $1.75 per cigar, and get outta dodge quick, before normal retails return.

White Gold has been around for years, pleasing fans far and wide with its mellow, easy-going profile and stellar price points. A Connecticut wrapper draped over a Cuban sandwich blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos issues nuances of toast, cream, and gentle spices with each puff.

Puck entered the scene a short while after as a follow up to White Gold, but catering to fans of darker tobaccos. Clocking in as medium-bodied and crafted into beautifully box-pressed shapes, it wears a Habano Oscuro wrapper over Cuban sandwich style fillers to offer rich notes of espresso, pepper, and cocoa.

If you’re looking for a top-shelf choice for a celebratory occasion, you can skip this one. But if you know, you know – that value on these puppies is unreal, and these are the perfect choice for an everyday cigar at stellar prices. Get ‘em for up to 68% off for the next few hours, and watch them slip into your regular rotation effortlessly.

Today is Monday, Jan. 12, the 12th day of 2026
with 353 to follow.

The moon is waning. Morning stars are Jupiter, Mercury and Uranus. Evening stars are Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune, Saturn and Uranus.

On this date in history:

In 1912, industrialist Andrew Carnegie lined up with the anti-trust view of former President Theodore Roosevelt as against the trust dissolution plans of President Taft today in testimony before the Stanley Committee.

In 1919, UP correspondent John Graudenz arrested by German troops while en route to the scene of an attack in Berlin, he was later released.

In 1919, U.S. President Woodrow WIlson, British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, French Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau and Italian Prime Minister Vittorio Orlando met in Paris for what would be the first of more than 100 meetings of the so-called Big Four nations. These allies gathered to hash out the peace terms ending World War I and established the League of Nations.

In 1932, Hattie Caraway, D-Ark., became the first woman elected to serve a full term as a United States senator.

In 1943, the U.S. wartime Office of Price Administration said standard frankfurters would be replaced during World War II by "Victory Sausages" consisting of a mixture of meat and soy meal.

In 1986, U.S. Rep. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., traveled into space aboard the shuttle Columbia. Also aboard the flight was Franklin Chang-Diaz, the first Hispanic American in space.

In 1994, U.S. President Bill Clinton asked Attorney General Janet Reno to appoint an independent counsel to investigate the Whitewater land deal affair that involved him and the first lady. Reno named New York lawyer Robert Fiske.

In 2006, about 350 people were crushed to death by a stampeding crowd at the entrance to Jamarat Bridge in Mina, Saudi Arabia, during a pilgrimage to Mecca.

In 2010, a magnitude-7 earthquake dealt Haiti and its capital Port-au-Prince a catastrophic blow, killing at least 100,000 people. The massive quake crippled the already-strained infrastructure of the island nation and sparked a cholera outbreak that killed thousands over the next several years.

In 2024, the United States and its allies conducted a full, large-scale retaliation against recent Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.
