And there's the first Vishing scam call of the season. They were clever. Masqueraded as the company that holds my mortgage, so the Android phone spam filter didn't snag it. They called to have me verify two fraudulent transactions. The tipoff was that they didn't understand a minor oddity in my credit report. There is a creditor with which I have a mortgage and a HELOC, and my wife has a credit card from the same provider which appears in my report because I'm an authorized user, but I don't actually have the card. So they told me the fraudulent charges were on that card, and did I recognize them? Nice try, thanks for playing, *click*.
They were smooth, though. Very convincing. I surveyed all the credit reports, just in case. I monitor all my credit cards daily. I had the missus check her two.
Gotta be careful out there.
