Max was originally supposed to come with us to Providence yesterday and backed out at the last minute. So he wound up going to his soccer game after all (changed his RSVP to yes). They lost 1-2. Apparently our team scored an own goal to start the game. No bueno.

The sandwiches are all made and the first one has been dropped off at the school bus stop. I can't remember the last time he made the bus and I didn't have to drive him all the way to school.

I'm sure it will be. Never the less, the second one is dragging his feet. There's no way he's making the bus today.

Even with me driving him all the way to school, he was almost late. I'm thinking of giving him a buzz cut because fussing with his hair is really the most time consuming part of his morning.

If I've mentioned this one before, I apologize. I have a unique plumbing issue and I'm not sure how to proceed.

The sink in the half bath downstairs is clogged. Or is it? A few weeks back, I noticed the water wasn't going down and I assumed it had something to do with the aforementioned fussing of the hair. However, I've since taken the elbow out and am able to see everything is completely clear. I ran a snake about 25 feet and it was also clear. The minute I put everything back together and run the water, the basin fills up. I let it sit for a couple of hours and the basin was still completely full. I took everything apart and snaked once again, but the exact same thing happened.

So here's what I think is going on: the vent pipe is clogged and the forces that should allow the drain water to flow through aren't strong enough to let the water get past the elbow. I believe the upstairs sink is connected to the same vent but because it's on the second floor, it seems to be working properly. I do notice that the drain upstairs smells, however.

Any thoughts? I'm not even sure who to call for this kind of thing.

What I'm thinking is that the vent clog sits somewhere in between. Therefore, the vent going out to the roof is clear from the 2nd floor and up. I don't know my ass from my elbow when it comes to plumbing, so I'm making this shit up.

I never heard of anyone having this kind of issue. Does a regular plumber handle stuff like this? Roto-rooter? I have a steep and high roof. Not looking forward to seeing what this will cost.

I thought the gravity/vacuum portion of the bathroom plumbing system only applied to the toilets.
