I absolutely HATE getting an Income Tax Refund, because it means that I gave the federal government an interest-free loan. I'd rather have to pay come April, and I've always managed to get to that side of the line while ensuring the payment wasn't onerous.  The pandemic, and all the overtime I earned through it, screwed up the calculations.  Fine.  But I was expecting to be back to normal this year.  I very carefully calculated, or at least I thought I had.  Nope.  I'm looking at a $3K refund.  I HATE this.

I could have returned 10% or more on that money in 2024.  I could have dropped that money into cryptocurrencies and better-than-doubled it.

I shall avenge myself.  I'm thinking I'll drop that money into a crypto-based Roth IRA in hopes cypto blows up some, and then I'll give the gubmint a big, hairy middle finger about the capital gains.

The American taxation system is SUCH a sham.
And soon to be shammier.

Making chicken stroganoff in the slow cooker for dinner. Right now, it's only chicken, Italian seasoning and margarine, but it's still starting to smell amazing.
The missus is loading up the crock pot with a really great beef stew recipe we discovered, so it's going to be sheer torture by smell here most of the day.
Tom Petty was right, waiting really IS the hardest part.
It doesn't help that this stew recipe has a cup-and-a-half of red wine in it.  Man.
Well, now that the bottle is open....

Finally starting to see some grass in the yard today, it's been a while. Next few days might see most, if not all, of it gone. At least for a little bit.

My friend was in Hilton Head/Bluffton yesterday and said there was still snow on the ground in shaded areas and piles of snow in parking lots.

Middle kid starts her second college class tonight, after she took one last year. So I've got to drive her over there and then kill 90 minutes or so while I wait for her. Wish there was a B&M in the area.
