good morning guys:
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service and is in effect for all Finger Lakes counties from 8:00 am Sunday through 7:00 am Tuesday.
A mix of light snow and freezing rain will overspread the Finger Lakes region on Sunday morning and continue through Sunday afternoon. At times on Sunday afternoon, the wintry mix may change to all rain in low lying areas.
As colder air moves in on Sunday night, the wintry mix will change to all snow and continue through Monday evening.
Accumulations of 2-3 inches are expected during the day on Sunday with 4-6 more inches falling Sunday evening and overnight. An additional 4-7 inches of snow is expected on Monday before the storm moves east of our region.
The snow is going to be wet and heavy- NOT fluffy like the last few events. This make clearing the snow extremely difficult, as most of us now have very high snow banks. PLEASE be careful shoveling this snow and take frequent breaks.
Furthermore, the heavy snow will only add to the weight roofs and decks are bearing from all of the recent snow. If you are able to do so safely, removing snow from decks and roofs is recommended before this storm arrives later Sunday morning.
This storm will taper off from west to east during the late afternoon on Monday, but some areas of the eastern Finger Lakes and east of I-81 may continue to see snow into early Tuesday morning.
