In 1997, Woolworth Corp. announced it was closing its 400 remaining five-and-dime stores across the country, ending 117 years in business.

First, Woolworth's and then Toys R Us? Damn that Amazon!
Shhhhh, it'll hear you!
I was ranting to my kids in the car last evening why Amazon is awesome. We went to a brick & mortar toy store at 6:50 and found their doors closed. [ Edit: sign on the door said they closed at 7:00 ] Their website listed 8:00 as the closing time. I called the store and the clerk said that I should have Googled it because the website is out of date. What?!? How do these small shops expect to stay in business with that kind of customer service?

The clerk called me back after 5 minutes and told me she'd open the door for me if I came back. She just saved herself a bad Yelp review.
Which is weird, because usually the small, independent stores boast about their personal customer service as the main reason to go to them instead of shopping online. Glad she got her head out of her ass long enough to realize that.
You want customer service fail? Try the US Postal Service. It'd be freaking hilarious if it wasn't pissing me off. Here, check this tracking number:

Yes, I have opened a case. No, they did NOT get back to me in one business day like they promised, and the wait time to speak to a representative is 1.7 hours. Go figger.

The place should be burned down.
But they'll get a letter across the country for you for 50¢. A lot better than every other country's system. Just sayin'.
Not if the letter never reaches its destination.
It's still debatable.

Good morning, Sam. How's the old throat today? Ready to start smoking again?

Well, I mean...it IS a bonus that they charge less to fail to deliver than in other countries.

But then they still cry and wring their hands over how email is ruining them, and how unfair it is they have to compete with UPS and FedEx.

Whateverrrrr.

Morning, muchachos.
Hey there, Bretster. What say you?
I say the government is a freak show and I'm happy to watch it all burn. ;-)

If I'm not already on an NSA watch list, that'll do it right there.
I know I'm on Homeland Security watch.

I will give them some leeway on their economic woes as there have been many initiatives to become more competitive, unfortunately, they are at the mercy of politicians who must approve any of these actions.

The fire tv stick is a great deal at $20, but I don't have any use for one.
