Anything of 'new' interest on the liquor store run, Scott?
No, very disappointed. If you don't like pumpkin beer, which I don't there's very little new stuff of interest. Joe Canal's lately is stagnant

Well, Shit. Had a couple Breckenridge Vanilla Porters last night. Not the best vanilla porter I've ever had, but still pretty tasty none-the-less.
I don't mind Vanilla Porter but I consider it a good basic one that won't disappoint but won't floor you either.
Just picked up a 4-pack of New Holland Dragon's Milk bourbon barrel stout, sounded good @11 ABV. Boasts vanilla flavors, got it warm so will have to wait until tomorrow night. Have a ST Mokah lined up for tonight

I think you will like the Dragon's Milk. It has great flavors, but it will, indeed, knock you on your ass.
I second that...good stuff!!!

Damn - http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/10/todd_gurley_suspended_indefini.html
Boy that is a mega hit for GA.

For sure. A.J.Geen had a similar issue. Johnny football was the last, but didn't have the evidence.

Most vanilla's to me taste like an artificial flavoring additive rather than something integrated with the mash and fermentation.  Not a big fan.

Coffee and chocolate as well, but as I said there is a different effect on the taste if the actual ingredients are included from the beginning of the fermentation instead of as  additives afterwords...like a syrup shot in a Starbucks coffee.

:)  Agreed - I get your drift.  I will be having some of Hump's Winter Porter tonight, homebrew, I will report back findings.  He is a pretty stellar beer maker, it should be fantastic.

I hate those tasting like obvious flavor added crap, taste more like Acid Cigars than Starbucks though to me.  Like Kuba Kuba Vanilla.

You could just say you just don't like vanilla and leave it at that.  :P

Personally, I may agree, but vanilla itself doesn't have that large a flavor spectrum like chocolate and coffee. So, there's not going to be a whole lot of differences in vanilla beers as the main focal point. It's more used as an enhancer/accompaniment to the other stronger flavors. Not the feature characteristic.
