Today is Saturday, Sept. 24, the 268th day of 2016. There are 98 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Sept. 24, 1996, the United States, represented by President Bill Clinton, and 70 other countries signed a treaty at the United Nations to end all testing and development of nuclear weapons. (To date, 183 countries have signed the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, but the agreement has yet to enter into force because of the refusal so far of eight nations - including the United States - to ratify it.)

On this date:

In 1789, President George Washington signed a Judiciary Act establishing America's federal court system and creating the post of attorney general.

In 1869, thousands of businessmen were ruined in a Wall Street panic known as "Black Friday" after financiers Jay Gould and James Fisk attempted to corner the gold market.

In 1890, the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wilford Woodruff, wrote a manifesto renouncing the practice of plural marriage, or polygamy.

In 1929, Lt. James H. Doolittle guided a Consolidated NY-2 Biplane over Mitchel Field in New York in the first all-instrument flight.

In 1934, Babe Ruth made his farewell appearance as a player with the New York Yankees in a game against the Boston Red Sox. (The Sox won, 5-0.)

In 1948, Mildred Gillars, accused of being Nazi wartime radio propagandist "Axis Sally," pleaded not guilty in Washington D.C. to charges of treason. (Gillars, later convicted, ended up serving 12 years in prison.)

In 1955, President Dwight D. Eisenhower suffered a heart attack while on vacation in Denver.

In 1957, the Los Angeles-bound Brooklyn Dodgers played their last game at Ebbets Field, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0.

In 1960, the USS Enterprise, the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, was launched at Newport News, Virginia. "The Howdy Doody Show" ended a nearly 13-year run with its final telecast on NBC.

In 1976, former hostage Patricia Hearst was sentenced to seven years in prison for her part in a 1974 bank robbery in San Francisco carried out by the Symbionese Liberation Army. (Hearst was released after 22 months after receiving clemency from President Jimmy Carter.)

In 1988, Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson won the men's 100-meter dash at the Seoul (sohl) Summer Olympics - but he was disqualified three days later for using anabolic steroids. Members of the eastern Massachusetts Episcopal diocese elected Barbara C. Harris the first female bishop in the church's history.

In 1991, kidnappers in Lebanon freed British hostage Jack Mann after holding him captive for more than two years. Children's author Theodor Seuss Geisel (GY'-zul), better known as "Dr. Seuss," died in La Jolla, California, at age 87.

Ten years ago: In a combative taped interview on "Fox News Sunday," former President Bill Clinton defended his handling of the threat posed by Osama bin Laden, and accused host Chris Wallace of a "conservative hit job." Democrats seized on an intelligence assessment that said the Iraq war had increased the terrorist threat, saying it was further evidence Americans should choose new leadership in upcoming elections. The Europeans turned the Ryder Cup into another rout, winning 18 1/2-9 1/2 to make history as the first European team to win three straight times.

Five years ago: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev proposed Vladimir Putin as a presidential candidate for 2012, paving the way for Putin's return to office four years after he was legally forced to step aside. NASA's dead six-ton Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite fell to Earth, 20 years after being deployed from the space shuttle Discovery.

One year ago: Pope Francis finished his whirlwind visit to the nation's capital, becoming the first pope to address a joint meeting of Congress and calling on the lawmakers to help immigrants "and embrace the stranger in our midst." The pope then traveled to New York for an evening prayer service in St. Patrick's Cathedral. Chinese President Xi Jinping (shee jihn-peeng) arrived in Washington, where he and President Barack Obama met for dinner at Blair House, the guest residence near the White House. A stampede and crush of Muslim pilgrims occurred at an intersection near a holy site in Saudi Arabia; The Associated Press estimates that at least 2,426 people were killed, while the official Saudi toll has stood at 769. A repurposed military "duck boat" carrying passengers swerved into an oncoming charter bus on Seattle's Aurora Bridge; five international college students were killed in the crash.

September 24 is......... International Rabbt Day 2016

Poachers and cosmetic manufacturers beware: International Rabbit Day is definitely not for you! Held on the fourth Saturday or Sunday of September, this annual celebration of the long-eared, short-tailed mammal is not just in the name of the millions of bunnies kept as pets across the Western world, but aims to promote a serious message about animal welfare. On International Rabbit Day we are encouraged to consider, not only the companionship offered by our favourite hutch-dwellers, but the various ways in which rabbits are harmed by medical and cosmetic testing, hunting, fur farming and, of course, casseroling. Yes, there is a serious side to International Rabbit Day but you may not be surprised to learn that events are somewhat sporadic – so let your bunny out of its hutch and give it an extra carrot or two (and be sure to plan chicken for the family roast).

Oyster Bars are where you drink beer, those nasty mounds that cut your feet and destroy boats and motors are generally called "Oyster Beds".

They also frequently hold redfish and trout .

Oh yeah, painters did not finish yesterday as planned.  They did finish the inside and start on the outside, weather permitting they should easily finish Monday.

They have been showing up and steady working but I am quite sure the guy seriously underestimated his time and cost.  That said, he has stuck in there all the way and quality has remained excellent.

Very True, but that was an unintended consequence of one of his many failures.

And remember the "Republican" designation Has No Meaning in modern politics.  Say hello to Susan Collins, John McCain and most of the rest of them.

Funny the chit the media and advocates come up with sometimes, read yesterday that "they" have determined that most guns are owned by "hoarders" which they self-defined as "those who own 17 or more guns".  Thus 17 made their common core math point work out.

What sucks is that I was so close and only had to tweak the script a little. At this point, I don't know where the script is or what it was called. Basically have to start over again. Sheesh.

Not  at all.  They had no work in the guest suite end of the house and we moved in here before they ever started.  Personally I prefer this part of the house and move here sometimes when the warden gets on my nerves.  They see very little of me unless they have a question or I am coming in/going out.

D'oh! I feel like I've got a supervisor. Nothing gets passed you.

Edit: I flipped fine last night. It was the night before I had a little trouble. Don't confuse me.
I didn't even notice a problem, I was more poking fun at your inability to muster the time to automate it. ;)
What sucks is that I was so close and only had to tweak the script a little. At this point, I don't know where the script is or what it was called. Basically have to start over again. Sheesh.
Having to be up to do it every night at midnight would be motivation for me, but then again, I like to go to bed at a decent hour. :)
Only because you get up at an indecent hour.

Starting Texas Offesive Tackle got a DUI here early Friday morning (off weekend for them) with no other charges or issues and no previous criminal issues you, would think he set out pressure cooker bombs around the campus.  Sheesh, guy has busted his ass  on the fiel with solid hopes for the pros for 3 years and will probably be out of the school soon and then what?  FUCT for life likely leading to real crimes.  The Mexican baseball coach gt a DUI downtown then plead guilty and he was suspended without pay for a couple of non-conference games.

If not for Golf it would not matter because nobody else reads it.
I'm thinking he means the computer script necessary to automate the flip.
You read that too????

It would be nice to just skip the next 45 days of rhetoric and get right to it. Anyone who's undecided at this point should not be allowed to vote. It's not like anyone is actually going to be talking about the issues from this point on.

That sounds like an ass-backwards Dean construction schedule

So all put back together and watching or do you need to leave it open to dry?

Open to dry at the moment but I masked it off and sprayed it so it will be ready shortly, cigar break time

@ Golf & Travellin Dave and other non-deplorable types:

Here's what you need to know when you move to Canada after TRUMP is elected.

Who said anything about moving to Canada?  That's not on the way to SC, is it?
I actually saw this in SC...

Pretty Funny and that is a Low Country phone number.

You might have seen one of my son's billboards, he has a load of them around.  Kind of startling to drive down the road somewhere and see your "kids" picture on a billboard but I got used to it.
Honestly didn't notice but would have looked for 'em, had I known.

I still have one more football game (cheerleading) to go. Making some pasta now. Can't have my daughter go do cartwheels on an empty stomach.

Way long ago when I was a corporate pilot I had an Italian grandma stuff a little girl full of pasta and red gravy then put her on the plane.  A little bumpy that day and holy-shit!!!!!!  Over $1000 to clean and deodorize the plane and damn near killed me before I could get the damn thing landed.
