It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars. Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Today is Tuesday, May 17, the 138th day of 2016. There are 228 days left in the year.
Today's Highlight in History:
On May 17, 1954, a unanimous U.S. Supreme Court handed down its Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka decision which held that racially segregated public schools were inherently unequal, and therefore unconstitutional.
On this date:
In 1792, the New York Stock Exchange had its origins as a group of brokers met under a tree on Wall Street.
In 1875, the first Kentucky Derby was run; the winner was Aristides, ridden by Oliver Lewis.
In 1912, the Socialist Party of America nominated Eugene V. Debs for president at its convention in Indianapolis.
In 1939, Britain's King George VI and his wife, Queen Elizabeth, arrived in Quebec on the first visit to Canada by a reigning British monarch.
In 1940, the Nazis occupied Brussels, Belgium, during World War II.
In 1946, President Harry S. Truman seized control of the nation's railroads, delaying - but not preventing - a threatened strike by engineers and trainmen.
In 1961, Cuban leader Fidel Castro offered to release prisoners captured in the Bay of Pigs invasion in exchange for 500 bulldozers. (The prisoners were eventually freed in exchange for medical supplies.)
In 1973, a special committee convened by the U.S. Senate began its televised hearings into the Watergate scandal.
In 1980, rioting that claimed 18 lives erupted in Miami's Liberty City after an all-white jury in Tampa acquitted four former Miami police officers of fatally beating black insurance executive Arthur McDuffie.
In 1987, 37 American sailors were killed when an Iraqi warplane attacked the U.S. Navy frigate Stark in the Persian Gulf. (Iraq apologized for the attack, calling it a mistake, and paid more than $27 million in compensation.)
In 1996, President Bill Clinton signed a measure requiring neighborhood notification when sex offenders move in. ("Megan's Law," as it's known, was named for Megan Kanka, a seven-year-old New Jersey girl who was raped and murdered in 1994.)
In 2004, Massachusetts became the first state to allow legal same-sex marriages.
Ten years ago: The FBI began digging at a Michigan horse farm in search of the remains of former Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa; the two-week search yielded no evidence. It was announced that Paul McCartney and his second wife, Heather Mills McCartney, had agreed to separate. Broadway producer Cy Feuer died in New York at age 95.
Five years ago: Queen Elizabeth II began the first visit by a British monarch to the Republic of Ireland, a four-day trip to highlight strong Anglo-Irish relations and the success of Northern Ireland peacemaking. Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger issued a statement confirming a Los Angeles Times report that he had fathered a child with a woman on his household staff more than a decade earlier. (Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, had announced their separation on May 9, 2011.) Baseball Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew, 74, died in Scottsdale, Arizona.
One year ago: A shootout erupted between bikers and police outside a Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, Texas, leaving nine of the bikers dead and 20 people injured. The contested city of Ramadi, capital of Iraq's largest province, fell to the Islamic State group in a major loss despite intensified U.S.-led airstrikes. Pope Francis canonized Sisters Mariam Bawardy and Marie Alphonsine Ghattas, two nuns from what was 19th-century Palestine, in hopes of encouraging Christians across the Middle East who were facing a wave of persecution from Islamic extremists.

Trex is a bit on the high priced side to build a new deck for the Landlords trailer.

Morning Dave, how about all of the gloom and doom in the cigar industry? Does this mean we need to start buying two-turd-Tuesday offerings?

Morning Dave, how about all of the gloom and doom in the cigar industry? Does this mean we need to start buying two-turd-Tuesday offerings?
IMHO Means you should have bought like a maniac as I did when all those super deals were around in November, December and January.
I said then and I say now unless something changes it will double to triple the cost of cigars within the next year and has already driven prices up around 20% it looks to me like. I also think there will be damn few small producers left next year.

I've had several and I feel the same about Series V's, good enough cigar but I don't get the hype. Pretty "linear" smokes to me that I wouldn't turn down but I won't really reach for them either

If you are deal shopping Holt's has the MB3 deal of the century back up with an assortment of 20 for $60, no free shipping this time but still a hell of a deal.

That immediate price bump is pure industry greed (or a last money grab before lean times) because nothing has actually happened yet.

Seems to have been a good move but will not send up the fireworks until we see the final results. Either way though most deals are a good bit more costly now than when I bought most of mine.

True, the one Room 101 I wouldn't buy. For folks that like Davidoff, it would probably be a great buy. Strong earthy/mushroom profile.
I love mushrooms, just not in my cigars.

Not a bad windfall:
Colorado has the country’s most mature legal cannabis marketplace. Analysts say the state could see $1 billion in sales this year, and last year, growers and buyers paid more than $135 million in cannabis taxes and fees. About $35 million is dedicated to school construction and upgrades, although cities and counties are also using the money to prop up social safety nets, provide drug-addiction counseling and increased enforcement to combat underage consumption.

And your Texas news for the day:
BRAZORIA COUNTY, TEXAS - Authorities say a headless body was found in a pickup truck parked at a boat ramp in Brazoria County earlier this month.
On May 3, the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office received a call that there appeared to be a dead person in a blue Chevrolet pickup truck. Investigators said a fisherman came back from a day on the water and noticed the truck hadn’t moved since early that morning.
Deputies found the headless body in the truck, and confirmed the man's identity through fingerprint analysis.
The victim was Jubal Dee Alexander from Port Arthur, Texas.
Alexander worked as a pipe cutter for a plant in the area. Authorities say he worked the overnight shift, and was homeless, so he would sleep in his truck during the day.
Authorities say the victim was last heard from on April 27. According to authorities, Alexander's head has not been located.

More Texas (Austin) news, Gay pastor admits "Hoax" (that's what you call attempted extortion gone wrong)
AUSTIN — The man who said a Whole Foods Market Inc. employee wrote an anti-gay slur on a cake has withdrawn his lawsuit and now says the company “did nothing wrong.”
Jordan Brown made the initial allegations more than three weeks ago. The openly gay pastor said at the time that he ordered a cake with the phrase “Love Wins” written in icing on it and instead got a cake with that phrase plus a gay slur on it.

Morning Mr. Mayor.
How goes it, Dave?
Well it's not Monday!
Plugging along.
I hear ya. My phone however, thinks it's still Monday. It's been acting up the last two days. Each post takes me 15 minutes to compose and send.
Sure it is the phone and not the phone operator? ;D
They both suck.

...helped me a bunch. Phone is responsive again.
Maybe you can try it on the wife?
Only divorce or death will resolve that matter.
There is always this option:
First 50 lashes: Saudi activist wife endures husband's brutal sentence... or in Tony's case she gets it for her cousin.

I asked if they could check their lumber pile for 2 - 2x6x8' and a 2x4x8' so I can finish. nothing. told them I'd run to Home Depot before golf tomorrow and finish up. azzhats!

HGTV 'Fixer Upper' Season 4: Shiplap is out, 'skinnylap' is in
If you've ever caught half an episode of HGTV's "Fixer Upper" and then found yourself in an HGTV-addicted, binge-watching rabbit hole for the next six hours, you're probably aware that the show's stars, Waco home designers Chip and Joanna Gaines, are big fans of shiplap.
Well, forget everything you know, "Fixer" fans.
For Season 4, shiplap is out, and "skinnylap" is in.
"I will forever love clean lines, neutral colors and shiplap," Joanna Gaines wrote in a teaser Friday for Season 4 on her Magnolia Market blog . " ... Lately I've loved incorporating 'skinnylap' (same idea as shiplap, but with thinner planks), wallpaper and bolder paint colors."
