Finally cut the front yard yesterday. It had gotten quite lush, which was the plan. Looks great now, hoping the added growth helped the root system so it might still look ok in the summer months.

It is morning. Has been for a while now. I wish more than anything that I could go back to sleep. Been up for over three hours and I'd like a redo.

I could use a second cut. It's been raining so much, I haven't really had the opportunity. Maybe Saturday.

That helped, too. All the rain after I'd put down some fertilizer. I had to empty the bag like 7 times. In fact, after the first couple of passes in the backyard, I raised the mower up one level, otherwise, I might still be out there.

I'd say it can only get better from here, but we both know better than that. Doesn't mean I won't hope it gets better for you, though.

Speaking of better, just put some pork in the slow cooker for dinner. Can't wait for that smell to start wafting down here.

That's a fine idea. Not sure I have it in me right now to cook something, but I definitely should so that I'm not scrambling at 8:pm trying to figure out what to eat.

Wife's MD gift has made it to IN. So, if you're keeping tracking at home, it started in IL, then made its way to Dallas, now it's back in IN. Based on the zip codes, the trip from IL to IN would've taken 3 hours and 17 minutes by car.

Yes indeed.
I have had a plug-in electric, a 4-stroke gas powered, and now a battery powered electric (cordless). The gas was definitely the best and the corded was the worst. The battery one needs to be emptied frequently because it will die quickly if the grass is too tall or weighted (wet). But for the little amount of grass that I have, the gas was just way too much maintenance, for the mower itself.

Actually, the very best was when I paid a landscaper to come by every week, but that just got too expensive.

I might go electric if I had a small yard. But in relation to our neighbors, ours is pretty big because we're on the corner. So I've got more backyard, a side yard next to the house by the cross street and 3 times the tree lawn. Gas is definitely the way to go. I've seen people use corded and I don't see how they can. Seems like a giant irritant.

I bought my corded electric from my neighbor for $10 when I first bought this house 20+ years ago. My previous house was in an urban area with zero grass to speak of. Growing up, my parents always rented, so I had no prior experience with mowers.

Well, you can't argue with the price at least.

The mower I have now is the first one I've actually bought myself. The previous two I'd had since we moved in here were from my parents when they were getting new ones. It's also the first one I've had with the push assist. That's one of those things you don't realize how great it is until you have it yourself, then you can't imagine ever not having it again.

Since we're in a bit of a lull, I'll share some family news - I lost a cousin in the last week (actually second cousin, once removed, according a friend of mine who's really into genealogy). I don't remember any particular interaction with her, but the wife remembers playing with her as a baby at a family do some years ago. She had Ewing Sarcoma, and was only 26. She battled it for a while, and was in the clear as recently as a few months ago. But they recently discovered it had come back, and with a terrible vengeance. That time, they told her it was terminal and gave her only a few weeks to live, which ended up being spot on. She leaves behind parents, grandparents, two sisters and a fiance, among many others.

Thanks. Terrible for parents and grandparents have to bury their child/grandchild. It's just not right.

I like that. More often than not, I attend open casket wakes and I just don't get it. A celebration of life with photos and videos scattered around the venue, is a much better way to commemorate the loved ones. In my humble opinion, of course.
