I don't think I did miss one because the bar stayed yellow and then the deal was replaced. That's typical of the first deal after the flip.

Today is Thursday, Feb. 2, the 33rd day of 2017. There are 332 days left in the year. This is Groundhog Day.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Feb. 2, 1887, Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, held its first Groundhog Day festival.

On this date:

In 1653, New Amsterdam - now New York City - was incorporated.

In 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, ending the Mexican-American War, was signed.

In 1914, Charles Chaplin made his movie debut as the comedy short "Making a Living" was released by Keystone Film Co. The musical "Shameen Dhu," featuring the song "Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral," opened on Broadway.

In 1925, the legendary Alaska Serum Run ended as the last of a series of dog mushers brought a life-saving treatment to Nome, the scene of a diphtheria epidemic, six days after the drug left Nenana.

In 1932, Duke Ellington and His Orchestra recorded "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" for Brunswick Records.

In 1942, a Los Angeles Times column by W.H. Anderson urged security measures against Japanese-Americans, arguing that a Japanese-American "almost inevitably ... grows up to be a Japanese, not an American."

In 1959, public schools in Arlington and Norfolk, Virginia, were racially desegregated without incident.

In 1964, Ranger 6, a lunar probe launched by NASA, crashed onto the surface of the moon as planned, but failed to send back any TV images.

In 1971, Idi Amin, having seized power in Uganda, proclaimed himself president.

In 1980, NBC News reported the FBI had conducted a sting operation targeting members of Congress using phony Arab businessmen in what became known as "Abscam," a codename protested by Arab-Americans.

In 1990, in a dramatic concession to South Africa's black majority, President F.W. de Klerk lifted a ban on the African National Congress and promised to free Nelson Mandela.

In 1992, longtime "Miss America" emcee Bert Parks died in La Jolla (HOY'-uh), California, at age 77.

Ten years ago: Tornadoes killed 21 people in central Florida. A grim report from the world's leading climate scientists and government officials said that global warming was so severe, it would "continue for centuries" and that humans were to blame. Texas Gov. Rick Perry issued an order making Texas the first state to require that schoolgirls get vaccinated against HPV, a sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer.

Five years ago: Egyptian security forces clashed with stone-throwing protesters enraged by the failure of police to prevent a soccer riot the night before that killed 74 people. Donald Trump announced his endorsement of Republican Mitt Romney for president, saying the former Massachusetts governor was "not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country we all love."

One year ago: Health officials reported that a person in Texas had become infected with the Zika (ZEE'-kuh) virus through sex in the first case of the illness being transmitted within the United States. A suicide bomber detonated an explosive aboard a Somali Airbus, forcing it to make an emergency landing at Mogadishu's international airport; only the bomber was killed. Yahoo announced it was laying off about 1,700 employees. Bob Elliott, half of the enduring television and radio comedy team Bob and Ray, died in Cundy's Harbor, Maine, at age 92.

Poor Johnny Depp and his financial woes....
Scraping by on just 2 million a month and 30K a month for wine.

But he has made some good investments...

The managers have just counter-sued asserting that Depp frittered away his millions, despite their repeated warnings, on such goodies as a multi-million-dollar collection of 200 paintings (Warhol, Klimt, Basquiat, Modigliani); collections of jewelry, 70 guitars and 45 luxury vehicles; an $18 million yacht; private jets rides; and $75 million for 14 real-estate acquisitions, including multiple homes in Hollywood and penthouse lofts in downtown Los Angeles, a farm in Kentucky, a chain of Caribbean islands and a chateau in France.

But where are the cigars?

Lamont Darden, 30, entered a guilty plea to felony charges of theft in office and evidence tampering at a hearing before the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas in Cleveland.

Earlier this year Darden was caught collecting money from motorists looking to have their cars released from the police department's impound lot.

That's a great point. Let me see if I can find an old one and post that.

I feel like it's a decent cigar but not box worthy. Wait for a 10er to show up on the jam. That's my 2¢.

I've been very pleased with the HC's I've had.  Solid smoke, good construction, pleasant if generic flavors.

good morning guys. waiting for the lady to show up. having our taxes done today. separately, so don't go there. then I have the Intergroup Audit at 4:30 so last years expenses can be approved at our business meeting Sunday. gotta get some stone for the concrete pour. grade settled and I'm not mixing bagged concrete at 6" thick tomorrow. materials for the porch repair are being delivered today so I can start that job Monday. brown box sitting at PO. golf was frustrating. my slice came back and after three times I left my driver in the bag. chunked my approach shots and skulled my chips. hole locations on the greens were tough, 3 putt all day except 1 chip in from the fringe.
Short Story and coffee going befote I jump in the shower.

Think I would rather have a box of Uncle Lees and $10 in my pocket or a box of MC2's.   You must also realize this is not your Grandparents HC this is a new variety and it will be different than what you had before, and IMHO those were pretty good smokes at $2 back then.

Sounds like a plan.  There is less manual labor in that option it seems.  Like you don't have to build the firepit before using it.

I can't find anything to spend Raz's Money on today.
Patience, I'm sure something will come along by the weekend.  Maybe look for a nice pink sidearm for the little lady for VD coming up in just over a week.
The little lady doesn't care for pink. She does, however, love the hell out of this, which I took delivery of on Monday.

But does it fit conveniently inside her purse?
She has a conceal carry....we'll leave it at that....  :-X

She carries teeny-tiny purses. No useful weapon would fit. And she's a special-ed paraeducator at a school. Not the kind of students to have a weapon around even if it weren't highly illegal.

I'm more of an accumulator than a collector, whether we're talking amps, guitars, guns, knives, or motorcycles.

As for amps, I have a THD Flexi-50 with 2x12 and 4x12 THD cabs, a Marshall 18-Watt clone I built myself, a 70's Silverface Bassman head and cab, and my.most recent acquisition - a 1965 Blackface Fender Twin.

Number 1 is a Don Grosh Retro Classic Mary Kay, one of the first Mary Kays Don built. Number 2 is an Edwards clone of a '58 Les Paul. Number 3 is a Tom Anderson Cobra S.

My prized possession is the 1962 Gibson 12-string acoustic that my grandmother bought new for my dad. He took lessons from Paul Kantner and Skip Spence with that, played it on the main stage at Monterey Folk in '63, and once used it to back up Grace Slick. I also have a '96 Martin HD-35, a custom-built Roger Hamilton Small Jumbo, and a Hound Dog Dobro.

Then there's a large pile of pieces and parts.

Yeah, he'll probably outlive me. He's only eighteen years older than I, and his mom lived to be 102.

He gave me the guitar just after my mom died. She's talked him out of selling it several times back in the day when they needed money.  After I started playing it was understood the guitar would go to me someday. After she died, he was clearing stuff out of the house and decided to pass the guitar on.

No. That's a late 1920's Model 1905 Military and Police model in .38 Special. More Eliot Ness than Harry Callahan.

(Tex may chime in here to point out that Ness carried a Colt Detective Special, which is true, but he owned one of these as well.)

I've been very pleased with the HC's I've had.  Solid smoke, good construction, pleasant if generic flavors.
Afternoon BOTLs, Rick ... I've enjoyed the HCs, the Habanos in particular. Coming in the box rather than bundle seems better in my experience, but maybe it's the appearance.  Haven't had the squared versions.

I got a 12 pack sampler of Unusual shapes of Diesel Unlimited (from the sister, Andy, for $44.95) and am enjoying working my way through.  Comes in Maduro and Natural ... would have liked to have gotten one of each, but money's tight until I fully absorb the hit from a transmission repair job.
An area B&M is hosting a Crowned Heads event this evening.  A buddy had asked me to join him last Saturday to watch a ball game, smoke & drink my growler of Mad Fox Molotov Hoptail (9.3%). I knew it would probably be $10 minimum for my cigar, I jumped on the ticket deal ... buy it in advance and get one cigar right away and two at the event.  The freebie was a Le Careme small robusto.  It was very enjoyable and lasted until closing time.  I was just looking over the list of Crowned Heads brands and am now looking forward to this event I hope they offer a wide variety to pick from.  I have had the 4 Kicks, but not many of the others.  I've heard the La Imperiosa is really good.  If I have my choice which should be my top 2?
