Seems to be legit. Though, not sure it will be much of a drinking game, if the video is any indication, it'll turn red for anyone with any amount of alcohol on their breath. Someone should try it with mouthwash or something.

Today is Wednesday, Jan. 25, the 25th day of 2017. There are 340 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Jan. 25, 1947, gangster Al Capone died in Miami Beach, Florida, at age 48.

On this date:

In 1533, England's King Henry VIII secretly married his second wife, Anne Boleyn, who later gave birth to Elizabeth I.

In 1890, reporter Nellie Bly (Elizabeth Cochrane) of the New York World completed a round-the-world journey in 72 days, 6 hours and 11 minutes. The United Mine Workers of America was founded in Columbus, Ohio.

In 1915, America's first official transcontinental telephone call took place as Alexander Graham Bell, who was in New York, spoke to his former assistant, Thomas Watson, who was in San Francisco, over a line set up by American Telephone & Telegraph.

In 1924, the first Winter Olympic Games opened in Chamonix (SHAH'-moh-nee), France.

In 1936, former Gov. Al Smith, D-N.Y., delivered a radio address titled "Betrayal of the Democratic Party" in which he fiercely criticized the New Deal policies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

In 1945, the World War II Battle of the Bulge ended as German forces were pushed back to their original positions. Grand Rapids, Michigan, became the first community to add fluoride to its public water supply.

In 1955, the Soviet Union formally ended its state of war with Germany.

In 1961, President John F. Kennedy held the first presidential news conference to be carried live on radio and television.

In 1971, Charles Manson and three women followers were convicted in Los Angeles of murder and conspiracy in the 1969 slayings of seven people, including actress Sharon Tate. Idi Amin seized power in Uganda by ousting President Milton Obote (oh-BOH'-tay) in a military coup.

In 1981, the 52 Americans held hostage by Iran for 444 days arrived in the United States.

In 1990, an Avianca Boeing 707 ran out of fuel and crashed in Cove Neck, Long Island, New York; 73 of the 158 people aboard were killed. Actress Ava Gardner died in London at age 67.

In 1997, astrologer Jeane Dixon died in Washington, D.C.

Ten years ago: Ford Motor Co. said it had lost a staggering $12.7 billion in 2006, at that time the worst loss in the company's 103-year history. (Ford later reported a loss of $14.6 billion for 2008.)

Five years ago: U.S. military forces flew into Somalia in a nighttime helicopter raid, freeing an American and a Danish hostage and killing nine pirates. U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona returned to Congress to officially tender her resignation a year after she was shot and severely wounded in her home district. First lady Michelle Obama and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, along with celebrity chef Rachael Ray, announced new guidelines for more healthful school meals during a visit with elementary students in Alexandria, Virginia.

One year ago: President Barack Obama said he would ban the use of solitary confinement for juvenile and low-level offenders in federal prisons, citing the potential for "devastating, lasting psychological consequences" from the use of the isolation as punishment. A Houston grand jury investigating undercover footage of Planned Parenthood found no wrongdoing by the abortion provider, and instead indicted anti-abortion activists for using fake driver's licenses when making the videos that targeted the handling of fetal tissue in clinics. (The charges were later dropped.) The Russian Olympic Committee banned four track and field athletes for doping.

Another thing wrong with Millennials....only 1 in 5 has tried a Big Mac.

Big givaeway tomorrow as well as additional sizes to the Big Mac:

McDonald’s is marking the rollout of its revamped Big Mac sandwiches by giving away 10,000 bottles of Big Mac Special Sauce.

Yup, you can take that special sauce home.

The bottles of Big Mac Special Sauce will be available on Jan. 26 at participating locations around the country.

The fast-food chain is offering the Big Mac in two additional sizes for a limited time. For those who want a Big Mac, but aren't interested in overloading on calories, the Mac Jr. offers a single-patty burger, while those who want to over-indulge can order the Grand Mac, which has a larger patty and an extra slice of cheese.

Apparently, they have taste!

No, they just use a 3D printer to make lunch. The special sauce could help though.
Help make the decision to throw it away easier, you mean. ;)

I haven't eaten at McDonald's in years, but isn't the secret basically thousand island dressing?
I believe so. That was my first job, and I remember the smell of it made me want to vomit. No thanks.
My first job was at Carvel Ice Cream.  Got into food service working at Great Adventure the first two years it was open in NJ.

I think everyone should be required to work in food service for at least a year.  Very educational, and I believe would help many with attitude adjustment.  Throw in a mandatory year in the service while we're assigning.

I sure did. With a $2 cutter and the $10 off code on the tubos they wind up being $0.02 more ea. I already ordered 2 boxes of the tubos. In hindsight I could have just bought the bigger box, but the extra couple pennies is worth it for the tubes and an extra wooden box. :) I might give the second box to a buddy that's getting married (in addition to a real wedding present). He's not much of a smoker, though, so I also might keep em both for myself.

I see the V double Robustos are back at the Monster.

Pretty good deals @ $3.38 a stick w/codes... need to add a Boveda or something to the tubos. Shank used a cheapy cutter.

I vote you get him a gravy boat and keep the smokes.

Lol! I think that will be the winning vote. I did order the Cusano Magnum coronas just now (decided to give 'em a try). I'll probably take a handful of those. :) He'll be just as happy.
Exactly.  If they enjoy the economy stuff for infrequent smokes, no use in wasting the special stuff.

Oh, the irony.

long tome ago(back in the 70's), I was working in a Burger King, and it was Black Friday, so we had long lines.
The Ice machine was out, the soda came out cold, but wouldn't stay that way for long.  The woman comes up and orders a whopper and a large Tab. told her about the ice, but she wanted it anyway. she gets her order, and walks away to go eat in the dining room.  about a half hour later, she comes back in line, with a half empty large tab, with a look on her face, that says nothing I can do is going to be able to make it better.  When it's her turn, she slams the cup on the counter and shouts, "This Tab, tastes like dirty dishwater!".  All the customers stare at me and her now.  Knowing that it is now my turn, I just calmly turn to her and say, "Mam, you are going to have to stop drinking dirty dishwater, and coming in here,
to do these comparison taste tests", and I turn and take the next order.  the customers are smirking and she is shocked silent. As I finish, the order she says, "Excuse me sir, this Tab", and I cut her off, "tastes like warm Tab, i did mention the ice machine was broken, can I get you another?" she smiles and says yes, and I had nice customers for the next 20 minutes.   this long winded story was my way of saying Ragz, why are you eating paste?

grew up with a babbling brook in the backyard and over the bridge were, rabbits, chickens and ducks. from time to time there were geese, a goat, a horse, and a 400lb pig that got into the garage and was eating about 50lbs of cracked corn.  Technically I was growing up in New York City, just a rather bucolic portion of Staten Island.  I have used liquid adhesives, just never put any on my lunch.

I think Dave (of the Golfin variety) is using a wineador... but don't go too small. (twss)
With a Dave or the wineador?

Absolutely

This is the one I have, though, I'm sure you could do better on the price with some searching. I can also direct you to a place to get custom shelving for it, and then you're all set.

For those who want a Big Mac, but aren't interested in overloading on calories, the Mac Jr. offers a single-patty burger, while those who want to over-indulge can order the Grand Mac, which has a larger patty and an extra slice of cheese.
...And it still tastes like paste.
long tome ago(back in the 70's), I was working in a Burger King, and it was Black Friday, so we had long lines.
Hello boys.
You must be a city boy. If you don't know the taste of a variety of adhesives, you've never worked in the construction trades.
grew up with a babbling brook in the backyard and over the bridge were, rabbits, chickens and ducks. from time to time there were geese, a goat, a horse, and a 400lb pig that got into the garage and was eating about 50lbs of cracked corn.  Technically I was growing up in New York City, just a rather bucolic portion of Staten Island.  I have used liquid adhesives, just never put any on my lunch.

C'mon Flip, we've heard some of your menu items...

I like the uncut.  the original has a bit of spice to it and is on the upwards scale between medium and full.  the connie seems to have the same blend of fillers with the connie wrapper which tends to smooth out the spice a bit.  personally i like the connie.

Not like I have any money to spend right now. The fun budget is completely wiped. Two firearms and a bunch of cigars killed it. Next funds come on the tenth of February. About $100. Sheesh.

Since MorbidNewsTex is semi-retired, I'll have to post the following:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Drummer Butch Trucks, one of the founding members of the Southern rock legend The Allman Brothers, has died. He was 69.

Thoughts on the Diesel Uncut? Never tried one, and as I recall, Diesel gets mixed reviews here.
A decidedly meh diesel.  And while not a huge fan of the line, I do generally enjoy them otherwise, particularly the coronas.
they look to be $55 at CI, but no free ship.******

I prefer the Man o' War line. The little devils, the Puro's or even the Ruination.
I like the Man o War original and the Puro & Little devil.  not a big fan of the Ruination, but the Special Fig., which seems to be a cross bastardization of the original and Ruination, is pretty good.
Puro be good.  Duke, Ateupwithit, was a big fan of the Unlimited.

No. Never smoked the connie and from what folks here are saying, it sounds like they're decent. But buying 20 sticks blindly is never a good idea.
For most people, that would be true. But as I suggested earlier, in my social set cigars function as a form of currency. If I don't like a cigar, I tip the rest of what I've got to friends who help me work on my cars, motorcycles, travel trailer, house, or firearms, or load ammo for me. Since most of those guys think I'm a connoisseur of cigars and booze (In the land of the blind, a one-eyed man is king), a surfeit of Diesels for which I don't care would buy me a lot of goodwill. ;-)

I have somewhat of six degrees of separation on this one... I have seen the Allman Brothers a couple times, but never personally met anyone in the band. I have, however, met and spoken with Derek Trucks on numerous occasions. He was his nephew. The connection was based on a high school garage band buddy that ended up being his bass player in his self titled band. Todd Smallie was his name.

I wouldn't go for a 20 to start out with.  While I and others have said we liked them, clearly not unanimous.  I would say plan to pick up a tenner from a jam or the devil for 25-30 and see if you like them.

Sounds tempting.
He meant that he'd transport you between the airport and his house. He's not flying you to Austin. ;-)
I got that.

It's not like you don't have the time.  Think of all the studying you'll get done.
Valid point.
…and think of all the interesting people you'll meet.  And smell.
Quite a bit less appealing.
What do you mean, didn't you notice the photo on the homepage of the girl who surely would be sitting next to you the entire trip?

Don't knock it till you've tried it? Plus they have free wi-fi so that I could still banter with y'all during the trip.

Just polished off a Nica Rustica toro, burned down to a short little nub. Lots of espresso and cocoa imo.  Very tasty.  8)

And on top of all that, it puts out a ton of smoke.  Safe to say it is a favorite around here.

Try the Belli.  Much bigger vitola.  Smoother than the Brujito and a touch mellower but not to be confused with mellow.

If you're looking for some Connecticuts....On the CI warehouse clearance, you can get 50 Room 101 Connecticut robustos '305' for $99.99.  $2 a cigar for those is outstanding!

That's a better box split. 50 robustos take up a lot of space.

I'm interested, but I can't do it right now. Hopefully you'll get a taker. If not, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
