Any cigar deals on the various internet sites that are worth talking about? Join in this hump day discussion and perhaps learn something along the way.  Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour a drink and welcome aboard!

Drive-Thru Confessional
-------------------------

The elderly priest, speaking to the younger priest, said, "It was a good idea to replace the first four pews with plush bucket theater seats. It worked like a charm. The front of the church always fills first now."

The young priest nodded, and the old priest continued, "And you told me adding a little more beat to the music would bring young people back to church, so I supported you when you brought in that rock'n'roll gospel choir. Now our services are consistently packed to the
balcony."

"Thank you, Father," answered the young priest. "I am pleased that you are open to the new ideas of youth."

"All of these ideas have been well and good," said the elderly priest, "but I'm afraid you've gone too far with the drive-thru confessional."

"But, Father," protested the young priest, "my confessions and the donations have nearly doubled since I began that!"

"Yes," replied the elderly priest, "and I appreciate that.

But the flashing neon sign, 'Toot 'n Tell or Go to Hell' cannot stay on the church roof.

I tried reading through some of that...  Some is very interesting.  Other stuff is very blurry.  :)  For example, WTF does 1995 -36.8øF (-38.2øC) in Chosedachar, Komi-district, on 67øN mean?

Things have really changed the last 15 years, companies wanted the lifetime employees and we're proud about having people retire and it motivated everyone, now everyone goes to meetings wondering if it's their last time.  When I was at Krispy Kreme, you never wanted to go eat lunch with the owner because that was his way of getting rid of people, you went to lunch and no one ever saw you again.

I gotta join the club here. Meetings all day and most I have no deal why? Gotta be more cutbacks. Meetings are never good anymore. If I walk in and don't see coffee and cookies it's going to be a long day.

HOLD THE PHONE!  You worked for Krispy Kreme?!?!
6 years as GM for them down here until they decided to close 3 shops and downsize.
NO WAY!  God I love that place!  We had one here for 3 or 4 years, then they closed down - man I miss the fresh donuts!
Love seeing that sign lit up. Morning Shaun.
Damnit I miss that!!!  Mornin Dave!

Howdy, KC. Tried to greet you earlier but the data network hiccupped.

Morning Jake!  I've said this before, but I don't know how I got anything done when I had to go to work.  But I had a lot of time to Banter back then.  Between meetings, of course.

Good morning, CADave.  Finally got to the office.  Hellish commute.
Think the train will be available for the ride home?
Yeah, I started receiving messages that it's running again with huge delays.  By the time I have to go home it will be situation normal - all fucked up!
Is it still Tuesday for you, T? Jayzus.
Good morning, Bret.  Just finished an extra large coffee and have been busy with work so I'm not feeling it yet.  I'm sure that'll change soon.  Beautiful day here though so I'm hoping to sneak in a cigar on the way home.

Yes that's me, I'm a fan of the corona black label. I'd say $59 is worth it depending on shipping but I paid $49 on the devil, so $55 shipped. Good cigar IMO though

On another, but related subject, the .bid has anti-sniping programming on the auctions. If you place a bid with, I believe, under 2 minutes remaining, the auction will actually add time (5 min) to give the other bidder a chance to up the ante... not a fan.

On another, but related subject, the .bid has anti-sniping programming on the auctions. If you place a bid with, I believe, under 2 minutes remaining, the auction will actually add time (5 min) to give the other bidder a chance to up the ante... not a fan.
Fuck that, love sharking bids at the last second!!!

Who's the big fan of the Tres Reynas here, is it Scott or NJCADave? Either way, is $59 for a box of coronas a pretty decent deal?
Yes that's me, I'm a fan of the corona black label. I'd say $59 is worth it depending on shipping but I paid $49 on the devil, so $55 shipped. Good cigar IMO though
$59 is with shipping. They're on clearance at CI, so you can use the free ship code.

Good morning everyone!  Been finishing up the truck, still lots to go, and enclosures to clean.  At least I don't have to go to meetings.
Morning, KC. Sounds almost like you're gonna do more work today than I will.

Morning Jake!  I've said this before, but I don't know how I got anything done when I had to go to work.  But I had a lot of time to Banter back then.  Between meetings, of course.
Morning KC...who's Jake?

Jake, from State Farm.  (You know, the commercial?)  That's what I call LTG since he works for an insurance company.

She sounds hideous... Morning, everyone

Alpine barely distributes in San Diego, but from what I've gathered, retailers often 'trade' under the table to sell things they'd otherwise be unable to find.  I would grab any of the IPAs if you see them - Duet, Pure Hoppiness, and my favorite, Nelson.  Great stuff.  Super cheap out here if you go direct to the brewery, only $5-$6 for the 22oz bottles.

Morning, all. Daughter was sick yesterday, stayed home with her in the morning, busy when I got to work in the afternoon.
Well that sucks, morning Joe

Not sick enough to be TRULY miserable, which is good.  Morning, Scott.  Made a trip out to Alpine Beer Company over the weekend and picked up a few of their IPAs.  Hopefully the rest of the country will start seeing their stuff soon now that Green Flash owns them.
I feel like I've seen Alpine here, I like Green Flash IPA though. Just found some more VaS 6-packs on Monday less than 10 minutes from work so I'm pumped about that

So you're calling me a liar then?  :D  The name just seems familiar

LOL, yes, I'm basically calling you a liar.  But it's not Tuesday and I don't know THAT much about beer/distribution so I suppose there's a chance.

Agreed on that one.  I don't understand how people like those absurdly sweet beers.  To each their own but damn, those are hard to power through.

Hope she's better now.  Hate it when the kids are sick.  Hi Joe.

Thanks. She's like me and gets over things fairly quickly.  The boy and wife, not so much.  She's back on her feet, she'd actually stayed home Monday and Tuesday.  Had the time off to take so why not?  Morning, Tony.
Guess she didn't have to worry about any snow days to make up.

Ha, yeah, they don't build those in the school schedule out here.  Morning, Dave.

I haven't tried any of the Beer Camp releases.  Only 'new' beer I've added to my favorites list lately is Eviltwin Brewing, Molotov Cocktail single simcoe hop edition.  $7, really high ABV, and has that dank/citrusy mix that I like.

buy it again - present company excluded!

Right?  Or the fact that their parent company, InBev, purchased Goose Island, who puts out the highly acclaimed Bourbon County Stouts?  So they're advertising against their own stuff.

OK with the St Patrick's day festivities about to start on Friday, and run through the 21'st, what is your Irish beer of choice?  Guinness stout, Harp Lager, Smithwicks Irish Ale, Killians Red ale? yes I know Coor's brews Killians..

Draft Guinness. Sometimes a black & Tan. The cans with the nitrogen ball do okay, but the keg is always the preference for me when talking about Guinness.

I'm tired, found a few cockroaches last night and set off 6 bombs before bed, got up this morning and sprayed bug killer EVERYWHERE and started cleaning up, headed out for golf and ........ dead Jeep.
got a lady coming over around 3pm, throwing a couple of steaks on the grill, mushrooms, green beans, and a salad.
did I say I was tired?
ha
I'm tired just reading all of that.
welcome to my world.

...but didn't the garage say the Jeep was fine. Great diagnosis there. Maybe it's not taking to the warmer climate as well as you.

So you're calling me a liar then?  :D  The name just seems familiar

LOL, yes, I'm basically calling you a liar.  But it's not Tuesday and I don't know THAT much about beer/distribution so I suppose there's a chance.
Much like your wife and son, it's going to take me awhile to get over this

The truth hurts.  If you see Alpine, try it.  I'm a fan of their IPAs.  Their other stuff is OK, but I rarely bother with them.
Have you tried the latest Beer Camp 2015?
I have to laugh at the anti-fru fru beer commercials that Budweiser has been running lately.   What about AB's Shock Top??
Wheat beer, that the bartender adds the orange to.  think, poor mans blue moon
Blue Moon is Miller.

OK with the St Patrick's day festivities about to start on Friday, and run through the 21'st, what is your Irish beer of choice?  Guinness stout, Harp Lager, Smithwicks Irish Ale, Killians Red ale? yes I know Coor's brews Killians..

Can't say I'm really a fan of any of those.  If I have to drink something Irish I'll go with whiskey.
Irish whiskey is my least favorite of the main whiskey families.

I watch a little after Gotham ends. You like it?
I've watched Gotham a few times....interesting prequil kind of thing, but there are just too many total fukin' total nuts and not a whole lot of normal people in that city.  Feels too much like work!
As for the Following, sorry, but the whole cult thing gives me the chills.  SIL was in Scientology, and dealing with all the fruits out here in CALI.....don't need any of that in "entertainment"

I'm coming back around to scotch, been trying a lot of it lately.  Just bought a bottle of 2014 Kilchoman Machir Bay last night.  Peated and finished in sherry casks, right up my alley as far as scotch is concerned.

Canadian Club is just whiskey for the sake of whiskey.  Simple, unobtrusive, mild, and cheap.  Other than that, I don't buy Canadian whiskey.  If someone gives me Crown, I'll drink it, but I won't pay for it.  If I'm going to kick my coffee, I put Bourbon in it.  Usually that's Wild Turkey 101, which thanks to JWacky is now a staple at my place.

Agreed, I can't think of any that I particularly care for.  I'll go scotch and call it close enough.  Or bourbon and give a middle finger to the rest of the world!  USA!! USA!! USA!!
Jameson Black isn't bad but I prefer scotch

I'm coming back around to scotch, been trying a lot of it lately.  Just bought a bottle of 2014 Kilchoman Machir Bay last night.  Peated and finished in sherry casks, right up my alley as far as scotch is concerned.
There are so many different scotches and regions to explore with single malts, I've been into the Balvenie 12yr lately. It's just an expensive habit

Yeah, there's that.  Great scotch seems so much more readily available (for now) than bourbon.  With bourbons, you gotta act quick in the fall if you want the limited stuff.  And I've gone through this before, LOL.  Really, I'm just becoming more open to variety in the liquor cabinet.  Still love my bourbons and Japanese stuff.  Scotch is creeping in on some of the shelf space.

afternoon guys, not a good one, golf got cancelled for me, dead Jeep again, it's at the garage now.
I'm tired, found a few cockroaches last night and set off 6 bombs before bed, got up this morning and sprayed bug killer EVERYWHERE and started cleaning up, headed out for golf and ........ dead Jeep.
got a lady coming over around 3pm, throwing a couple of steaks on the grill, mushrooms, green beans, and a salad.
did I say I was tired?
ha

You didn't know that the cockroach is the State Bird of Florida?  There's even a tall, skinny, bald one in the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee.  Afternoon, Deano.
I've never had roaches before in my life, good news is this park has an exterminator service under contract included in the rent. I am now on the list. Hello KC.

...they prefer to call them Palmetto bugs. Cockroach is too negative and biased.  ;D

[EDIT] Ooops. Looks like Dave slipped one in there... twss
Yup, in and out before you realized what was happening.   ::)
Too easy.

Not 'that' easy... he promised a walk on the beach.
No, you're thinking of Dave and Joe.

There is a lot of good whisky under $100/bottle.  My point of diminishing returns is probably $80-$90.

Yeah, but see, there isn't a lot of overlap.  Scotch and cigars is okay, shooting and cigars is okay, Scotch and playing music is okay, Scotch and the blonde is good to a limited extent.  Scotch doesn't go with Harley's or shooting.  So, there are tradeoffs.

Sam Bradford traded to Philly... guess they needed someone for the IR list. Not that Foles is a perennial All-star.
Gotta be more planned on this trade. No way Chip Kelly wants a QB who has blown his ACL twice to run his offense. He's gotta be moving elsewhere in another trade.

Can't discount anything at this point. Philly has put more moves out there than Dean this winter.  ;)  I figure the target is Mariota. A lot has to happen to get them into a position to draft him though.
Well maybe he's had a conversation with the Jets and they want Bradford? Very convoluted any way you slice it
I'm just glad the Jets took Skrine off our hands. It'll be nice not to yell at him through the tv anymore after his 5th stupid penalty of the game.

I prefer Port cask finishing myself.  I really love Scotch, but not as an incidental drink.  I put Scotch in that class of things I enjoy that require a significant portion of my attention when I enjoy them - along with smoking cigars, riding my Harley, shooting, playing music, and the cute blonde I married.
That sounds like a full attention agenda!
You definitely want to avoid overlap, it causes irritation
In so many ways.

Funny how that activity is not exclusive to any one franchise... just happens more often.

I'm procrastinating because I need to call this developer who is the Indian version (dot, not feather) of Doug Whiner.  He doesn't look anything like him and I suppose he's not actually whining but the inflections in his voice, plus his accent have kind of a whiny drone sound.  The Irony of my incessant whining too isn't lost on me but I just can't help but get frustrated when I meet with this guy.  I think I'll meet with him tomorrow instead when I'm better rested.

Well, again, I said "to western ears." Along the same lines, German sounds guttural, various Asian dialects sound nasal *to western ears*, Argentine Spanish sounds slurred, and we won't go into the clicks and pops of, say, Swaziland.  So no offense was intended, and there was no racism or derision behind the question.

Perhaps I'll ask Kirpal to describe how American English sounds to a native Hindi speaker.

raz-----Just a little humor, we all know that no offense was intended.  But on that topic, being a native Honduran, Bianca only needs to hear a few words from a Spanish speaking person, and she can tell you EXACTLY what country they are from.  If the person is from Central America, she can tell you what region of the country they are from also.

(Reuters) - NASCAR lifted its suspension of Kurt Busch on Wednesday, six days after Delaware authorities declined to bring criminal charges against him in a domestic abuse case involving the star driver's former girlfriend.

Busch, 36, was kept on "indefinite probation" but was granted a waiver to compete in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, NASCAR's playoff format, should he qualify. Busch missed the first three races of the season during his suspension.

Indeed.  My Spanish coach made me listen to a lot of different dialects of the language so I could learn to recognize them.  To me, Spanish speakers from the South American countries sound like they've been drinking.  I'm pretty good at mimicking accents, but I've never been able to get those accents down.

Evening all.  Long day in a crowded room but I survived.  Did not even get lunch!
Hopefully the deodorant held up.
